Ghorban reached France alone in 2010 when he was 12 years old. He had travelled over 12,000 km from Afghanistan, experiencing the terror and dangers of clandestine migration. He was taken into the care of the child welfare services, and his social workers addressed him to a psychologist. He had to tame nightmares caused by abandon and poverty as well as deal with his teenager’s questionings. The filmmakers have followed his quest for a new life over 8 years, until he enters adulthood.

00:01:19.280 --> 00:01:22.840
- Can I open the window?
- Sorry? Yes, sure.
00:01:26.440 --> 00:01:28.280
It smells so bad, outside.
00:01:39.600 --> 00:01:41.960
Herat is cleaner
than Kabul city, isn't it?
00:01:42.760 --> 00:01:47.000
Yes, but Kabul isn't that bad.
It's a bit like Herat city.
00:01:49.640 --> 00:01:53.800
It's been around 10 years...
11 years actually,
00:01:54.800 --> 00:01:56.840
that I left the country from Herat.
00:01:57.280 --> 00:01:59.640
It seemed better than Kabul
at the time.
00:02:00.360 --> 00:02:04.000
Release me
00:02:05.800 --> 00:02:08.720
From the pain and the weakness
00:02:09.800 --> 00:02:12.760
From the eternal sorrow
00:02:13.840 --> 00:02:16.760
From the winter storm
00:02:17.880 --> 00:02:20.840
And the purple tears
00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:23.880
You, the exile
00:02:24.080 --> 00:02:26.000
The miserable
00:02:27.040 --> 00:02:30.120
HEART OF STONE
00:02:30.320 --> 00:02:34.000
By Claire Billet and Olivier Jobard
00:02:38.200 --> 00:02:41.720
Hello, my name is Ghorban Jafari.
00:02:42.280 --> 00:02:43.800
I'm from Afghanistan.
00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:45.560
I'm 13.
00:02:49.320 --> 00:02:52.400
We met Ghorban
two days after he reached Paris.
00:02:52.600 --> 00:02:55.920
He had travelled illegally
over 8000 km on his own.
00:02:56.520 --> 00:03:00.760
We have filmed him
over the following 8 years.
00:03:01.600 --> 00:03:03.480
I spent 5 or 6 months on the road.
00:03:03.680 --> 00:03:06.640
I'm very happy to be in France.
00:03:08.920 --> 00:03:11.920
I'd like to go to school,
00:03:12.120 --> 00:03:13.920
and to study here.
00:03:14.480 --> 00:03:17.320
I will see what happens
00:03:17.520 --> 00:03:19.000
until I grow old.
00:03:19.200 --> 00:03:21.640
Anyway, I'm here to study.
00:03:26.240 --> 00:03:27.440
That's all.
00:04:11.480 --> 00:04:13.760
I'm asking for school, school...
00:04:13.960 --> 00:04:17.240
I'm not here to be on vacation.
00:04:17.440 --> 00:04:19.240
But one day my hotel is changed,
00:04:19.560 --> 00:04:21.640
and another day, my foster home is.
00:04:23.760 --> 00:04:25.520
I don't know what to do anymore.
00:04:25.720 --> 00:04:28.480
I hope I will find my life's path.
00:04:30.720 --> 00:04:33.960
Now, I'm exhausted
00:04:34.160 --> 00:04:36.160
to think about it all.
00:04:44.600 --> 00:04:49.120
{\an3}Counseling and care center
Doctors Without Borders
00:04:55.520 --> 00:04:59.560
Life is tough.
Living is difficult.
00:05:00.920 --> 00:05:05.880
I'm fed up. No school, nothing.
I can't stand it anymore.
00:05:06.320 --> 00:05:10.000
It gets to my head.
00:05:10.560 --> 00:05:13.800
If it continues,
I won't be able to bear it.
00:05:14.400 --> 00:05:17.720
I've waited too long.
00:05:17.920 --> 00:05:19.800
I don't know what to do.
00:05:21.400 --> 00:05:24.240
I've run out of patience.
00:05:24.600 --> 00:05:26.600
I took the school test,
00:05:26.920 --> 00:05:29.440
but I may not get an answer
00:05:29.640 --> 00:05:32.200
before the next 6 months.
00:05:33.120 --> 00:05:38.560
I did the test 2 months ago,
and still no answer.
00:05:39.360 --> 00:05:41.480
In Afghanistan...
00:05:42.120 --> 00:05:45.080
I was 6 or 7 years old
when I was asking for school.
00:05:45.280 --> 00:05:48.400
I was insisting.
I wanted to go to school.
00:05:48.600 --> 00:05:50.520
At first, I was told "why not".
00:05:50.720 --> 00:05:53.960
Two years later, they said:
00:05:54.160 --> 00:05:58.400
"If we send you to school,
who will feed you?
00:05:58.600 --> 00:06:02.440
"Who will pay for the notebooks?
00:06:02.760 --> 00:06:06.000
"Who will work for us?
Who will look after the cattle?"
00:06:16.880 --> 00:06:18.000
Ok.
00:06:18.880 --> 00:06:21.600
So we meet again
next Wednesday, Ghorban?
00:06:36.640 --> 00:06:39.720
Can you pick up the plates?
00:06:41.360 --> 00:06:44.760
We'll do the dishes first,
00:06:44.960 --> 00:06:49.000
and then we'll go get drinks
for a small party.
00:06:49.200 --> 00:06:50.000
Thank you.
00:06:51.640 --> 00:06:53.320
Nationality...
00:06:58.200 --> 00:06:59.160
Afghan.
00:06:59.600 --> 00:07:02.640
Since his birthdate is precise,
00:07:03.760 --> 00:07:05.440
we'll just add...
00:07:05.640 --> 00:07:07.520
Here in France, what's my age?
00:07:07.720 --> 00:07:09.480
Wait a bit.
00:07:13.240 --> 00:07:16.920
I think we should add 621 years.
00:07:23.040 --> 00:07:24.040
It's roughly it.
00:07:24.240 --> 00:07:28.120
I may have forgotten details,
but it would only change the day,
00:07:28.320 --> 00:07:31.040
not really the month, or the year.
00:07:31.600 --> 00:07:34.360
So today, he's what?
00:07:36.280 --> 00:07:38.080
- 13 years old?
- 13, yes.
00:07:38.280 --> 00:07:40.640
- It's what they said.
- Yes.
00:07:42.040 --> 00:07:45.520
Do you have any questions
about what's going to happen today?
00:07:45.720 --> 00:07:47.360
- I don't know.
- You don't know?
00:07:47.560 --> 00:07:50.920
Well, you do know
why we're going there?
00:07:52.920 --> 00:07:54.960
Do you know why we're going there?
00:07:55.160 --> 00:07:57.640
Yes, I do. I'm going there
00:07:58.080 --> 00:08:01.800
to speak about my case, and all.
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:04.560
Other than that, I don't know.
00:08:04.880 --> 00:08:08.520
They may ask you questions
we haven't prepared.
00:08:08.720 --> 00:08:11.680
New questions.
00:08:11.880 --> 00:08:13.120
It's not a problem.
00:08:13.320 --> 00:08:16.400
You just have to tell the truth.
00:08:16.600 --> 00:08:18.920
It's the truth.
00:08:19.120 --> 00:08:21.040
Whatever they ask me.
00:08:21.240 --> 00:08:23.400
I will tell everything
00:08:23.920 --> 00:08:26.200
that happened to me.
00:08:26.400 --> 00:08:28.960
And if they ask me
what I want to do in France,
00:08:29.160 --> 00:08:30.560
I will tell everything.
00:08:37.520 --> 00:08:38.760
Thank you.
00:08:55.840 --> 00:08:58.000
- What's that?
- Portugal.
00:08:59.000 --> 00:09:01.360
- It's rubbish.
- He's Dutch.
00:09:06.240 --> 00:09:08.840
I don't have my Nike.
00:09:09.680 --> 00:09:10.920
I'll go get changed.
00:09:13.560 --> 00:09:15.040
It's a true World Cup match.
00:09:15.240 --> 00:09:17.560
Great players,
challenge, and pressure.
00:09:17.760 --> 00:09:20.320
And the first corner ball
is for Ivory Coast.
00:09:25.120 --> 00:09:28.000
But here, he doesn't
get the ball that much.
00:09:31.080 --> 00:09:33.040
I don't know what's going on.
00:09:33.240 --> 00:09:35.240
I'm lost with the procedure.
00:09:35.560 --> 00:09:38.000
There is neither a beginning
nor an end.
00:09:38.560 --> 00:09:40.600
My administrative process is stuck.
00:09:41.960 --> 00:09:44.760
There is neither a beginning
00:09:45.080 --> 00:09:46.320
nor an end.
00:09:46.520 --> 00:09:48.680
And my birth certificate...
00:09:49.720 --> 00:09:52.720
They want to translate it again.
One more time.
00:09:52.920 --> 00:09:55.000
The day wasn't the right one.
00:09:56.360 --> 00:09:59.720
November 31st.
00:10:00.080 --> 00:10:04.680
That day...
It should be written the 30th.
00:10:04.880 --> 00:10:08.000
The 31st doesn't exist.
00:10:09.120 --> 00:10:15.120
So they will have
to translate again.
00:10:15.320 --> 00:10:18.680
The whole administrative process
will start over.
00:10:19.000 --> 00:10:21.880
They picked a date
that doesn't exist for your birth.
00:10:26.160 --> 00:10:29.040
I have the feeling that
what's happening
00:10:29.600 --> 00:10:31.120
with your birthdate...
00:10:31.320 --> 00:10:35.120
Giving you a starting date
that doesn't exist...
00:10:35.320 --> 00:10:38.960
Well, it indeed shows pretty clearly
00:10:39.160 --> 00:10:42.720
that when there's no starting date,
you can't have guidance,
00:10:42.920 --> 00:10:46.520
and you can't build anything.
00:11:21.160 --> 00:11:23.280
Ghorban. What's wrong?
00:11:23.480 --> 00:11:24.560
Are you ok?
00:11:39.520 --> 00:11:40.880
Let's go.
00:11:41.440 --> 00:11:42.720
Yes.
00:11:43.560 --> 00:11:46.240
- How are you, Ghorban?
- I'm ok.
00:11:48.360 --> 00:11:50.920
I'm not fine. Not really.
00:11:52.880 --> 00:11:56.760
As I went out of the foster home,
I had stomach ache.
00:11:57.080 --> 00:11:59.440
I had a headache
because I didn't sleep.
00:11:59.640 --> 00:12:01.840
I tried to fall asleep,
but I couldn't.
00:12:02.160 --> 00:12:04.600
What made you stop
00:12:05.080 --> 00:12:08.320
taking your sleeping pills
yesterday?
00:12:09.760 --> 00:12:12.240
Nothing.
I don't want the pills anymore.
00:12:12.440 --> 00:12:14.240
I'm fed up with everything.
00:12:14.440 --> 00:12:16.200
With the pills.
00:12:16.920 --> 00:12:18.200
With everything.
00:12:18.400 --> 00:12:23.320
Sometimes,
I think I should quit everything.
00:12:23.520 --> 00:12:28.000
Sleeping pills, life, everything.
00:12:28.200 --> 00:12:30.440
Nothing makes me happy anymore.
00:12:30.760 --> 00:12:33.800
I'm thinking about school,
school, school.
00:12:34.560 --> 00:12:36.160
As long as I won't be there,
00:12:36.480 --> 00:12:38.000
there will be nothing else.
00:12:38.200 --> 00:12:40.160
School is life.
00:12:40.360 --> 00:12:43.200
I want to study, to learn life.
00:12:43.400 --> 00:12:45.760
I'm not there yet.
00:12:45.960 --> 00:12:47.320
I want nothing.
00:12:48.800 --> 00:12:52.040
When I tell my educators
00:12:52.240 --> 00:12:54.800
that it's been a year I'm in France,
00:12:55.000 --> 00:12:56.960
they say it's nothing.
00:12:57.160 --> 00:12:59.720
For them, a year is nothing.
00:12:59.920 --> 00:13:02.920
But for us, immigrants, it counts.
00:13:03.120 --> 00:13:05.160
Each day counts.
00:13:05.920 --> 00:13:08.440
The time spent is lost.
00:13:09.760 --> 00:13:11.680
When I think
00:13:12.000 --> 00:13:16.480
of all the dangers I had to face...
God!
00:13:16.680 --> 00:13:19.360
When I was in Turkey,
00:13:19.560 --> 00:13:21.560
an hour drive away from Van city,
00:13:21.760 --> 00:13:24.280
I was put inside a truck
00:13:24.480 --> 00:13:25.640
until Istanbul.
00:13:25.960 --> 00:13:29.000
We were in the back end
of the truck.
00:13:29.200 --> 00:13:33.640
They had built a metal hideout
behind the driver's seat.
00:13:33.840 --> 00:13:35.520
It was a double decker
00:13:35.840 --> 00:13:37.920
hiding 40 people up
00:13:38.120 --> 00:13:39.760
and 40 down.
00:13:39.960 --> 00:13:43.120
We were crammed.
00:13:43.320 --> 00:13:45.520
Until Istanbul,
00:13:45.720 --> 00:13:47.480
we almost died.
00:13:47.680 --> 00:13:49.120
There was no water, no food.
00:13:49.320 --> 00:13:50.840
And it was so hot.
00:14:45.560 --> 00:14:47.320
14 YEARS OLD
00:14:47.520 --> 00:14:49.560
You finally prefer
00:14:51.800 --> 00:14:54.520
to speak without interpreter.
00:14:55.800 --> 00:14:59.080
I like to speak French.
00:14:59.760 --> 00:15:03.880
Because I don't like
to speak in Farsi that much.
00:15:04.200 --> 00:15:05.920
Ok. And how are you doing?
00:15:06.120 --> 00:15:07.560
I'm doing very well.
00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:13.320
I'm going to school,
with people, with teachers.
00:15:13.520 --> 00:15:15.040
They are all kind.
00:15:15.720 --> 00:15:19.400
Since I started school, I'm quiet.
00:15:20.160 --> 00:15:22.560
I think about my homework,
about school.
00:15:24.160 --> 00:15:26.800
Next year, I will enter grade 10,
like everyone.
00:15:28.200 --> 00:15:29.680
With French pupils.
00:15:31.440 --> 00:15:34.000
And joining
the general school system,
00:15:34.320 --> 00:15:36.280
and grade 10...
00:15:36.480 --> 00:15:38.680
- Do you want this?
- Yes.
00:15:38.880 --> 00:15:40.040
Are you not scared?
00:15:40.960 --> 00:15:43.160
No, I'm not scared.
00:15:44.280 --> 00:15:46.600
So you will be with people...
00:15:49.880 --> 00:15:54.560
... who were always at school,
who have always spoken French,
00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:58.800
who will surely wonder who you are.
00:16:01.440 --> 00:16:03.480
Yes, I know it's difficult,
00:16:04.920 --> 00:16:06.600
but I have to.
00:16:14.080 --> 00:16:17.320
On your side, in the burning desert
00:16:17.520 --> 00:16:20.840
In the middle of the night,
thirsty in the desert
00:16:21.040 --> 00:16:24.240
On your side in the burning desert
00:16:24.440 --> 00:16:27.600
Day and night thirsty in the desert
00:16:27.800 --> 00:16:31.040
I endure the heat of the sun
00:16:31.240 --> 00:16:34.440
I feel the street
with flowers and hyacinths
00:16:34.640 --> 00:16:38.200
I endure the heat of the sun
00:16:43.600 --> 00:16:44.800
It doesn't count.
00:16:45.120 --> 00:16:48.520
Bro, look what I did with the ball!
00:16:50.320 --> 00:16:52.040
Look at the ball!
I made the pass!
00:16:52.240 --> 00:16:55.080
I did a shoulder poke
and intercepted it!
00:16:55.280 --> 00:16:57.360
Which shoulder poke?
00:17:29.040 --> 00:17:32.360
15 YEARS OLD
00:17:36.560 --> 00:17:37.760
How are you?
00:17:37.960 --> 00:17:39.120
Fine.
00:17:39.960 --> 00:17:41.280
Well, I'm ok.
00:17:50.400 --> 00:17:54.040
But as usual...
00:17:54.240 --> 00:17:56.600
Things are complicated,
00:17:57.400 --> 00:17:59.040
with my mother...
00:18:00.520 --> 00:18:02.640
And so, what about your mother?
00:18:02.840 --> 00:18:04.520
My mother...
00:18:06.440 --> 00:18:08.840
I am not in touch with her.
00:18:09.160 --> 00:18:11.520
It seems I forgot my mother.
00:18:11.720 --> 00:18:15.080
I haven't forgotten her
but I don't think of her that much.
00:18:15.280 --> 00:18:16.760
I do, sometimes...
00:18:16.960 --> 00:18:20.080
When I'm in trouble
in the foster home,
00:18:20.280 --> 00:18:21.280
or at school,
00:18:21.760 --> 00:18:24.720
I think about my family.
00:18:24.920 --> 00:18:26.520
Regarding my school grades.
00:18:27.480 --> 00:18:31.320
If I were living with my parents,
00:18:31.520 --> 00:18:33.960
they wouldn't force me to go
00:18:34.160 --> 00:18:36.440
to a professional school,
00:18:36.640 --> 00:18:39.640
or forbid me from repeating
a school year.
00:18:40.120 --> 00:18:43.800
But the foster home is forcing me.
00:18:44.680 --> 00:18:45.800
You have the feeling
00:18:46.000 --> 00:18:48.640
that you are forbidden
from repeating a school year?
00:18:49.280 --> 00:18:52.800
On one hand, they're right.
00:18:53.400 --> 00:18:55.840
It's the law actually.
00:18:57.040 --> 00:18:58.560
It's the crisis.
00:18:58.760 --> 00:19:00.600
They can't bare the costs.
00:19:00.800 --> 00:19:02.160
Which law?
00:19:02.360 --> 00:19:04.000
{\an3}The Child protection law.
00:19:04.200 --> 00:19:05.920
{\an3}It's their way of working?
00:19:06.120 --> 00:19:08.160
{\an3}Yes, because of the crisis,
00:19:08.360 --> 00:19:10.880
they can't support us any longer
00:19:11.080 --> 00:19:13.800
after we turn 18 or 19 years old.
00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:15.600
It was lowered from 21 years old.
00:19:16.200 --> 00:19:17.960
And you're forced
00:19:18.280 --> 00:19:21.520
to undertake a professional course.
00:19:22.080 --> 00:19:23.160
So,
00:19:24.560 --> 00:19:28.800
I was wondering...
How is it going with your friends?
00:19:29.800 --> 00:19:33.960
What do they know of your life,
and your past?
00:19:35.840 --> 00:19:40.760
Most of my buddies have no idea
I'm living in a foster home,
00:19:40.960 --> 00:19:43.480
without my parents.
00:19:44.360 --> 00:19:47.440
Because they do have their parents.
00:19:48.920 --> 00:19:52.720
I don't dare say
I'm in a foster home,
00:19:52.920 --> 00:19:55.160
saying I have no papers...
00:19:56.840 --> 00:20:01.160
It's a bit difficult to tell this
to my buddies,
00:20:01.360 --> 00:20:03.000
but that's the way it is.
00:20:13.840 --> 00:20:15.480
The same. Other side.
00:20:45.360 --> 00:20:48.560
In fact guys, I don't get it.
00:20:48.760 --> 00:20:52.760
You're doing exactly
the opposite of what I told you.
00:20:53.400 --> 00:20:56.240
You've been insulting each other
for an hour,
00:20:56.440 --> 00:20:59.320
loosing heart, not communicating.
00:20:59.520 --> 00:21:01.640
No one is boosting the other.
00:21:02.120 --> 00:21:05.720
Team cohesion should be there
and it's not. That's one thing.
00:21:05.920 --> 00:21:10.360
Second, I gave you guidelines
and you aren't respecting them.
00:21:11.160 --> 00:21:13.080
The defenders are too far away.
00:21:13.280 --> 00:21:15.720
You're doing the opposite
of what I told you.
00:21:15.920 --> 00:21:16.880
What's going on?
00:21:17.200 --> 00:21:19.680
Mohamed, tell me what's going on?
00:21:20.440 --> 00:21:21.440
We have a problem!
00:21:21.640 --> 00:21:25.040
- I'm alone midfield.
- No way, you're not alone midfield!
00:21:25.360 --> 00:21:28.480
And do not speak out!
I'm the only one to speak here.
00:21:28.680 --> 00:21:30.000
Cut the crap.
00:21:30.200 --> 00:21:33.600
You're not making any effort!
I'm expecting a lot more from you.
00:21:33.920 --> 00:21:36.600
We're done loosing.
We're done losing guys!
00:21:36.800 --> 00:21:39.320
I have enough! Enough!
00:21:39.520 --> 00:21:40.920
Wake up!
00:21:41.480 --> 00:21:44.120
We have the ability,
we have the skills!
00:21:45.040 --> 00:21:46.560
You're not showing any...
00:21:48.680 --> 00:21:50.560
Come on, let's go!
00:22:13.440 --> 00:22:16.640
- How are you?
- I'm fine. Yes, I'm fine.
00:22:18.080 --> 00:22:19.480
As usual.
00:22:20.760 --> 00:22:22.560
Your foster home
is restricted to boys?
00:22:22.760 --> 00:22:25.360
Yes, only boys. We're all boys.
00:22:26.120 --> 00:22:29.080
Yes, it's a small foster home.
00:22:29.280 --> 00:22:31.120
For 18 people.
00:22:33.360 --> 00:22:34.760
You're 16 children now.
00:22:34.960 --> 00:22:36.400
Yes, we are.
00:22:38.240 --> 00:22:41.680
And do you have female friends
at school?
00:22:41.880 --> 00:22:44.000
Yes, I have girlfriends.
00:22:45.640 --> 00:22:48.000
And do you like
to discuss with girls?
00:22:48.920 --> 00:22:50.760
Yes, but...
00:22:54.520 --> 00:22:56.520
- But?
- It's difficult.
00:22:57.000 --> 00:22:59.360
Girls are always complicated.
00:23:00.440 --> 00:23:05.400
It's easier to speak with boys.
00:23:07.880 --> 00:23:11.080
It's more difficult
to understand girls,
00:23:11.280 --> 00:23:13.040
to talk with them, because...
00:23:18.920 --> 00:23:22.960
Do you have the feeling
that it's more difficult for you?
00:23:23.160 --> 00:23:24.360
I think it's for everyone.
00:23:24.680 --> 00:23:26.480
Yes, indeed for everyone.
00:23:26.680 --> 00:23:28.240
Even for my buddies.
00:23:29.160 --> 00:23:31.640
Do you speak about it
with your friends?
00:23:32.360 --> 00:23:35.760
Yes, we speak about gals.
About girls but...
00:23:38.280 --> 00:23:41.400
Myself, I'm shy. I can't,
00:23:42.680 --> 00:23:44.680
it's difficult.
00:23:47.680 --> 00:23:51.560
I speak more easily with a guy
00:23:51.760 --> 00:23:53.360
than a girl in my class.
00:24:01.360 --> 00:24:03.000
Hi, what's up?
00:24:04.280 --> 00:24:05.520
I'm done.
00:24:06.120 --> 00:24:07.520
How many runs?
00:24:08.880 --> 00:24:10.160
Three runs.
00:24:15.360 --> 00:24:16.360
Let's go?
00:24:22.720 --> 00:24:25.240
5, 6, 4...
00:24:25.440 --> 00:24:26.600
Come on, shut up.
00:24:26.920 --> 00:24:29.840
6, 5, 2,
00:24:30.440 --> 00:24:33.360
2, 3, 6...
00:24:40.280 --> 00:24:42.160
You became like Bruce Lee.
00:24:43.400 --> 00:24:46.640
I try to shape my body like his.
00:24:52.240 --> 00:24:54.960
I'm exercising daily
but it doesn't work.
00:25:03.400 --> 00:25:07.720
Do you miss your former foster home?
00:25:07.920 --> 00:25:09.800
Your former friends?
00:25:12.120 --> 00:25:14.280
The previous one was much better.
00:25:16.280 --> 00:25:17.280
I feel lonely.
00:25:17.480 --> 00:25:19.080
I'm the newcomer.
00:25:19.280 --> 00:25:21.640
I don't know anybody.
00:25:23.000 --> 00:25:25.560
All my former educators
were friends.
00:25:27.960 --> 00:25:29.880
How long have you been here?
00:25:30.200 --> 00:25:31.880
About 3 or 4 years.
00:25:32.080 --> 00:25:33.440
Three years and a half.
00:25:33.640 --> 00:25:34.640
Yes.
00:25:35.640 --> 00:25:36.640
I have no damn luck.
00:25:36.840 --> 00:25:39.080
I should have been operated
this year.
00:25:39.280 --> 00:25:40.560
For what?
00:25:42.880 --> 00:25:44.280
For your pin?
00:25:44.480 --> 00:25:48.320
Yes, they should take the pin
out of my leg.
00:25:48.880 --> 00:25:52.240
But because I don't have papers...
00:25:52.960 --> 00:25:56.960
and I have no guardianship...
00:25:57.160 --> 00:25:59.920
no one wants to sign...
00:26:00.520 --> 00:26:02.000
the discharge.
00:26:02.880 --> 00:26:04.760
How do we call it?
00:26:05.320 --> 00:26:07.200
The responsibility discharge.
00:26:30.560 --> 00:26:33.240
16 YEARS OLD
00:26:35.960 --> 00:26:38.600
My educators are fucking around now.
00:26:39.120 --> 00:26:42.840
They are doing things so bad that
I will stay without French documents
00:26:43.160 --> 00:26:45.000
until I'm 18 years old.
00:26:45.200 --> 00:26:46.560
It's so bad.
00:26:46.760 --> 00:26:50.080
That's it.
It pisses me off.
00:26:59.360 --> 00:27:02.680
I know what I will do
with the foster home.
00:27:02.880 --> 00:27:05.120
I will piss them off.
00:27:05.800 --> 00:27:08.200
I don't give a shit.
00:27:08.400 --> 00:27:13.360
I'm just waiting for the day
I will start the process.
00:27:13.560 --> 00:27:17.840
When I have my French documents,
I will piss them off so much!
00:27:18.040 --> 00:27:20.760
They have been so mean to me
in the foster home.
00:27:20.960 --> 00:27:23.240
I will piss them off so badly!
00:27:25.480 --> 00:27:28.720
In your head, you're not doing fine.
It's not moving forward.
00:27:28.920 --> 00:27:30.120
Nothing is moving forward.
00:27:30.320 --> 00:27:33.480
- Some things are moving forward...
- Nothing is.
00:27:33.680 --> 00:27:35.280
It's been 4 years I'm in France.
00:27:35.480 --> 00:27:37.880
What has moved forward?
Nothing.
00:27:38.080 --> 00:27:39.560
Well, when I look at you,
00:27:39.760 --> 00:27:43.080
I clearly see that
it is moving forward.
00:27:43.400 --> 00:27:44.800
No, nothing has.
00:27:45.000 --> 00:27:46.760
Yourself, you're moving forward.
00:27:46.960 --> 00:27:50.600
Where am I?
I'm nowhere forward.
00:27:50.800 --> 00:27:53.080
Just when I hear you speak...
00:27:54.600 --> 00:27:57.240
Speaking, it's normal...
00:27:57.760 --> 00:28:02.920
It's normal because
your daily life is in French,
00:28:03.120 --> 00:28:07.560
and it's something naturally
going forward.
00:28:07.760 --> 00:28:11.160
But it's something big.
00:28:11.960 --> 00:28:15.360
So you go to this appointment.
The educator forgets the documents.
00:28:15.920 --> 00:28:18.960
What happened?
Will you go back there?
00:28:19.160 --> 00:28:21.040
Not at all, no way.
00:28:21.240 --> 00:28:23.440
There is no other appointment
scheduled?
00:28:23.640 --> 00:28:25.800
No, I'm fed up.
00:28:26.760 --> 00:28:27.760
I'm done begging.
00:28:27.960 --> 00:28:30.720
You arrive there,
he says he forgot the documents,
00:28:30.920 --> 00:28:32.960
you say it's fine and you go home.
00:28:33.160 --> 00:28:36.080
What did you tell the educator?
Will you go back there?
00:28:36.280 --> 00:28:38.280
I kept my mouth shut.
I said nothing.
00:28:39.640 --> 00:28:43.600
I was so upset I didn't say a word.
I haven't, since then.
00:28:47.920 --> 00:28:49.600
Did he understand what it meant?
00:28:49.800 --> 00:28:53.800
I don't give a shit.
I don't care. I don't know.
00:28:54.520 --> 00:28:57.440
It's about you in the end.
00:28:57.640 --> 00:29:01.800
So that's why I'm telling you...
You're opening up here
00:29:02.000 --> 00:29:06.720
but retreating within yourself
00:29:07.560 --> 00:29:12.480
is clearly something
only a child would do!
00:29:14.320 --> 00:29:15.440
You see what I mean?
00:29:15.640 --> 00:29:18.640
You're waiting for the adults
to guess what's wrong.
00:29:18.960 --> 00:29:21.120
Then, you end up disappointed
00:29:21.320 --> 00:29:26.600
because you want your educators
to behave like good parents!
00:29:26.800 --> 00:29:29.120
They do have a responsibility
about things,
00:29:29.320 --> 00:29:32.360
and you should tell them.
00:29:33.720 --> 00:29:39.280
At one point, you will have to live
with your frustration.
00:29:39.480 --> 00:29:42.560
And this is about
your French documents.
00:29:42.760 --> 00:29:45.160
We're talking about your own future.
00:30:06.560 --> 00:30:08.960
Thanks Ghorban,
for sharing your Net.
00:30:23.960 --> 00:30:25.760
So you are here to count.
00:30:25.960 --> 00:30:30.200
You will check
that you visually find
00:30:30.400 --> 00:30:34.560
as many bacillus as you counted.
00:30:34.880 --> 00:30:35.920
Ok?
00:30:36.520 --> 00:30:40.600
It has to be the same as
what you observe on the microscope.
00:30:41.880 --> 00:30:44.080
Am I being clear?
00:30:44.280 --> 00:30:45.120
Go.
00:30:45.560 --> 00:30:47.200
I will give you a grade.
00:30:58.760 --> 00:30:59.920
Damn!
00:31:04.080 --> 00:31:06.360
Fuck, what is that microscope?
00:31:09.560 --> 00:31:14.240
So it's good for you Cristiano,
Fleurette, Bastien...
00:31:16.480 --> 00:31:17.960
and Ghorban to wait?
00:31:18.320 --> 00:31:19.680
Fine.
00:31:30.920 --> 00:31:32.560
It's quarter to three.
00:31:47.680 --> 00:31:49.240
No problem so far.
00:31:49.840 --> 00:31:52.800
Mister Ghorban?
Can I change the microscope?
00:31:53.000 --> 00:31:54.480
I can't make it.
00:31:56.680 --> 00:31:58.600
You will use
someone else's microscope?
00:31:58.920 --> 00:32:00.200
I turn it off.
00:32:02.000 --> 00:32:03.480
You're tenacious!
00:32:10.560 --> 00:32:11.680
Mrs?
00:32:16.640 --> 00:32:18.720
Mister Ghorban,
your Serene highness.
00:32:20.960 --> 00:32:25.200
There you go.
Tenacious, tenacious, tenacious.
00:32:28.560 --> 00:32:29.800
Not bad.
00:32:52.600 --> 00:32:54.040
Well, gentlemen.
00:32:54.240 --> 00:32:58.040
It's a quiet afternoon.
00:33:00.160 --> 00:33:02.440
- So Mister Ghorban...
- Yes?
00:33:02.640 --> 00:33:04.160
Your internship report?
00:33:06.280 --> 00:33:08.840
- It should be sent at 5 pm?
- It's done.
00:33:09.040 --> 00:33:11.000
You have 2 minutes left.
00:33:12.320 --> 00:33:13.720
Starting now!
00:33:16.840 --> 00:33:17.880
It's good?
00:33:18.240 --> 00:33:19.480
- Yes.
- Yes?
00:33:30.360 --> 00:33:31.560
It's fine?
00:33:31.760 --> 00:33:33.600
It's very fine visually.
00:33:34.680 --> 00:33:35.680
Very fine.
00:33:36.800 --> 00:33:38.040
I put this.
00:33:39.200 --> 00:33:40.680
- Is it ok?
- It's good.
00:33:40.880 --> 00:33:42.480
It's a picture of a bacteria.
00:33:43.560 --> 00:33:44.840
Clearly appropriate.
00:33:45.160 --> 00:33:48.000
- Can we have it printed out?
- Yes, we can go now.
00:33:48.200 --> 00:33:49.840
I save it.
00:33:51.160 --> 00:33:53.560
- Let's meet up downstairs?
- Yes.
00:34:02.480 --> 00:34:04.640
17 YEARS OLD
00:34:05.040 --> 00:34:06.640
Hello. How are you doing?
00:34:06.840 --> 00:34:08.680
- Good and you?
- I'm ok.
00:34:09.320 --> 00:34:12.480
I like Afghanistan.
I was born there.
00:34:14.120 --> 00:34:16.120
My mother is living there.
00:34:20.560 --> 00:34:24.720
But in fact, I'm more used
to living in France now
00:34:24.920 --> 00:34:26.800
rather than Afghanistan.
00:34:29.040 --> 00:34:30.560
And about your mother?
00:34:30.880 --> 00:34:32.840
Do you still think about her?
00:34:34.480 --> 00:34:37.280
My mother is my mother.
00:34:38.240 --> 00:34:40.360
How do you feel about it?
00:34:41.360 --> 00:34:45.120
I recently found someone
on Facebook.
00:34:46.200 --> 00:34:50.160
We were friends for a while
but we hadn't spoken.
00:34:50.360 --> 00:34:52.960
I spoke to him
00:34:53.280 --> 00:34:56.240
because I saw a picture.
I introduced myself
00:34:56.440 --> 00:35:00.160
and told him I knew
the picture he had posted.
00:35:00.360 --> 00:35:02.320
A picture of your village?
00:35:02.520 --> 00:35:04.400
Yes, of my village.
00:35:04.600 --> 00:35:08.200
- Of my mother's village actually.
- All right.
00:35:08.400 --> 00:35:09.240
I asked him:
00:35:09.560 --> 00:35:12.160
"If you see my mother,
00:35:14.280 --> 00:35:16.680
"say hello to her."
00:35:18.160 --> 00:35:19.480
He said yes.
00:35:19.880 --> 00:35:21.960
- Hello?
- Yes, hello.
00:35:25.800 --> 00:35:30.560
Then he told me
he took her phone number.
00:35:32.400 --> 00:35:34.320
He gave it to me,
00:35:36.720 --> 00:35:38.600
and I managed to call her.
00:35:38.800 --> 00:35:41.240
I called once and talked to her.
00:35:41.440 --> 00:35:43.120
I was happy honestly.
00:35:44.560 --> 00:35:45.920
It's been a while.
00:35:46.800 --> 00:35:48.240
You're amazing me.
00:35:49.000 --> 00:35:50.880
- Because it's been what?
- I counted.
00:35:51.400 --> 00:35:53.840
I left Afghanistan 8 years ago.
00:35:56.640 --> 00:35:58.840
So how was the conversation?
00:35:59.160 --> 00:36:02.440
She said: "I still think about you
and your brother.
00:36:04.680 --> 00:36:06.800
"I'm getting old."
00:36:07.520 --> 00:36:08.880
I said: "Yes?"
00:36:10.800 --> 00:36:12.560
She's my mother after all.
00:36:16.520 --> 00:36:17.640
She's fine.
00:36:17.840 --> 00:36:20.080
And she has had other kids.
00:36:20.280 --> 00:36:21.560
How many children?
00:36:21.760 --> 00:36:25.280
I knew she had had children
when I was in Afghanistan.
00:36:25.480 --> 00:36:26.600
There was a girl.
00:36:26.920 --> 00:36:29.880
How old is she?
00:36:30.080 --> 00:36:32.240
Her daughter is fourteen.
00:36:32.440 --> 00:36:36.680
She now has two daughters
and two young boys.
00:36:40.600 --> 00:36:41.760
Fine.
00:36:44.240 --> 00:36:47.040
So you could tell her
about your current life?
00:36:47.360 --> 00:36:50.160
- I could tell her I am in France.
- Indeed, yes.
00:36:50.760 --> 00:36:52.320
Then...
00:36:53.400 --> 00:36:56.000
- I told her I was going to school.
- Yes?
00:36:56.640 --> 00:37:00.160
She asked me: "Are you eating well?
Are you living well?"
00:37:00.360 --> 00:37:02.120
I answered: "Don't worry.
00:37:04.000 --> 00:37:05.960
"Don't worry. I eat well.
00:37:07.960 --> 00:37:09.080
"I'm fine."
00:37:09.920 --> 00:37:13.520
Indeed she can be reassured now.
And she can be proud of you.
00:37:53.680 --> 00:37:55.160
- Yes.
- It's Ghorban.
00:37:55.360 --> 00:37:56.440
Thanks.
00:37:57.520 --> 00:37:58.840
How are you?
00:37:59.040 --> 00:38:00.840
I'm fine because...
00:38:02.720 --> 00:38:07.240
I'm talking to my mother,
00:38:07.680 --> 00:38:09.520
now and then,
00:38:09.720 --> 00:38:11.240
and my aunt.
00:38:12.200 --> 00:38:15.720
But I'm not fine
because nothing is moving forward
00:38:16.040 --> 00:38:18.440
with my French documents.
00:38:18.840 --> 00:38:22.120
The judge blocked the whole process.
00:38:23.960 --> 00:38:27.600
And I have only ten months left
before I'm eighteen.
00:38:27.800 --> 00:38:29.480
Time flies.
00:38:29.800 --> 00:38:34.200
Then you can't sleep?
You're too upset?
00:38:34.400 --> 00:38:38.640
No, I'm not upset
because it's useless.
00:38:39.760 --> 00:38:41.920
I just think too much about it.
00:38:42.120 --> 00:38:43.520
From time to time,
00:38:43.720 --> 00:38:47.600
I start dreaming at night.
00:38:49.000 --> 00:38:50.640
Then...
00:38:53.840 --> 00:38:55.760
I wake up.
00:38:55.960 --> 00:38:58.520
I'm there, in my bed, sleepless.
00:38:59.000 --> 00:39:00.640
I try to force myself to sleep.
00:39:11.960 --> 00:39:13.800
Well, in order to sleep...
00:39:15.920 --> 00:39:18.400
- Should I take pills again?
- No.
00:39:19.840 --> 00:39:22.280
It's not about taking pills.
00:39:22.480 --> 00:39:25.400
But you say that
you try to force yourself to sleep.
00:39:25.720 --> 00:39:29.560
But sleeping is
the opposite of forcing.
00:39:29.760 --> 00:39:32.320
It's the exact opposite
00:39:32.520 --> 00:39:35.560
in the sense that it means relaxing.
00:40:20.520 --> 00:40:24.000
I'm going in circle,
I found nothing fun
00:40:24.320 --> 00:40:27.280
We fuck each other for nothing,
we forgot our parents
00:40:27.480 --> 00:40:31.080
I'm going round in circles,
I'm going round in circles
00:40:37.160 --> 00:40:38.480
Thank you.
00:40:53.720 --> 00:40:57.880
Happy birthday to you
00:41:03.240 --> 00:41:08.440
Happy birthday to you Ghorban
00:41:12.960 --> 00:41:14.200
I'm moved.
00:41:16.760 --> 00:41:18.280
I'm moved.
00:41:26.040 --> 00:41:28.920
So Ghorban,
what does it feel to turn eighteen?
00:41:29.320 --> 00:41:30.760
Nothing.
00:41:59.000 --> 00:42:01.080
Bye Mrs.
Hello and goodbye.
00:42:01.280 --> 00:42:05.560
- Hello and goodbye?
- I'm leaving the foster home.
00:42:05.760 --> 00:42:08.800
- Really? When?
- Now.
00:42:09.000 --> 00:42:10.440
All right.
00:42:12.880 --> 00:42:14.200
Come say hello
when you want.
00:42:16.240 --> 00:42:19.640
I wish you all the best.
Good luck and visit us any time.
00:42:19.840 --> 00:42:21.920
- All the best for you.
- Thanks.
00:42:37.600 --> 00:42:42.120
{\an3}HOME FOR WORKING YOUTH
00:42:45.360 --> 00:42:47.080
It's luxury, Sir.
00:42:48.400 --> 00:42:49.720
What a luck.
00:42:51.080 --> 00:42:54.400
You have everything you need
for cooking? All the equipment?
00:42:54.600 --> 00:42:58.440
Pans, and all?
But what else should you do tonight?
00:42:59.560 --> 00:43:02.560
- Go shopping!
- Yes, you need to buy food.
00:43:02.880 --> 00:43:04.200
Salt,
00:43:08.800 --> 00:43:10.600
pepper, sugar.
00:43:10.800 --> 00:43:13.280
- What else?
- Yes, sugar.
00:43:13.880 --> 00:43:16.680
- If you want to drink milk...
- Tea.
00:43:17.400 --> 00:43:18.680
Buy eggs, it's good.
00:43:18.880 --> 00:43:21.680
You can store them.
Check the consumption dates.
00:44:33.120 --> 00:44:37.320
As if the real problem of employment
was the workforce.
00:44:37.520 --> 00:44:38.960
Well they believe it.
00:44:39.680 --> 00:44:41.920
Those people believe
in the liberal doctrine.
00:44:42.560 --> 00:44:45.320
They think that
if they can fire people at will,
00:44:45.520 --> 00:44:47.800
they can hire
when things get better.
00:44:48.000 --> 00:44:50.320
And that if they lower
the cost of labor,
00:44:50.520 --> 00:44:52.880
many people will be hired.
00:44:53.520 --> 00:44:57.000
But not a single serious businessman
will agree.
00:44:59.040 --> 00:45:01.600
Resistance! Resistance!
00:45:10.000 --> 00:45:12.920
Resistance! Resistance!
00:45:18.760 --> 00:45:20.200
Thank you everyone.
00:45:22.240 --> 00:45:25.040
Some people can't revise
for their exams
00:45:25.240 --> 00:45:27.360
because of the Tennis Cup
or the World Cup.
00:45:27.560 --> 00:45:30.240
For you, it's about
the presidential election?
00:45:30.640 --> 00:45:35.440
It's true
you've always been interested
00:45:35.640 --> 00:45:40.320
in French politics.
00:45:40.920 --> 00:45:45.320
But you have your homework to do,
00:45:46.200 --> 00:45:49.520
your exams to prepare,
and now, you are paralyzed.
00:45:51.840 --> 00:45:53.960
Something is blocking you.
00:45:54.160 --> 00:45:57.400
I don't know what.
You have to find out what it is,
00:45:57.600 --> 00:46:00.840
because it's very important
to understand
00:46:01.160 --> 00:46:04.560
what is causing so much stress,
00:46:04.760 --> 00:46:07.600
insomnia, and maybe anxiety.
00:46:08.160 --> 00:46:11.800
Maybe, if you reconnect
with your forgotten land,
00:46:12.000 --> 00:46:14.360
your lost childhood,
00:46:16.880 --> 00:46:20.400
and you go through this again,
maybe you will bear to be alone.
00:46:20.600 --> 00:46:23.040
Maybe it's very tough
to be alone right now
00:46:23.240 --> 00:46:27.440
because you haven't yet worked
on reconnecting
00:46:27.920 --> 00:46:30.120
with where you're coming from.
00:46:30.440 --> 00:46:32.440
Honestly, the more I think about it,
00:46:32.640 --> 00:46:34.920
the more memories are coming back...
00:46:35.520 --> 00:46:39.000
I remember very difficult moments
00:46:39.200 --> 00:46:42.840
with my mother.
00:46:43.360 --> 00:46:46.920
I wasn't allowed to see her
more than once or twice a year.
00:46:47.120 --> 00:46:51.160
When I was there, I was tied to her.
00:46:52.120 --> 00:46:56.120
So her husband was fighting.
00:46:57.880 --> 00:47:02.600
They fought several times
about that.
00:47:02.800 --> 00:47:04.160
With your mother?
00:47:05.480 --> 00:47:08.520
Because you were so close,
he was angry at her?
00:47:08.720 --> 00:47:11.400
Yes. Every time I was going there.
00:47:11.720 --> 00:47:14.120
That's why I couldn't go anymore.
00:47:17.960 --> 00:47:19.920
To protect her, in the end.
00:47:20.640 --> 00:47:25.080
I don't know if it's to protect her,
but I was scared.
00:47:25.280 --> 00:47:27.960
Well, the problems were coming
because of you.
00:47:28.160 --> 00:47:31.000
In fact, when I left Afghanistan,
00:47:31.560 --> 00:47:33.040
it was...
00:47:34.480 --> 00:47:39.600
It was my main concern.
00:47:40.240 --> 00:47:42.520
I wanted to head off,
to not see that.
00:47:43.760 --> 00:47:46.880
The day I left, I didn't tell her.
00:47:47.200 --> 00:47:49.080
It was winter and...
00:47:51.080 --> 00:47:52.360
I got away.
00:47:56.320 --> 00:47:58.120
You didn't say goodbye?
00:47:58.920 --> 00:48:02.560
When you had talked about leaving
and she was quite ok with it?
00:48:03.800 --> 00:48:09.440
But I was sure that if I told her,
she would have disagreed outright.
00:48:09.640 --> 00:48:12.720
She surely would have locked me up.
00:48:13.880 --> 00:48:16.480
It would have been too hard
for her to bare.
00:48:16.680 --> 00:48:18.560
She wouldn't have let you go.
00:48:18.760 --> 00:48:21.280
So you couldn't say goodbye.
00:48:28.040 --> 00:48:30.640
There was a time
when I was like you
00:48:30.840 --> 00:48:35.080
Despite my troubles,
I'm standing on my two feet
00:48:35.280 --> 00:48:38.120
Prey for me to make it out
00:48:39.040 --> 00:48:42.040
Prey for me to get better
00:48:42.840 --> 00:48:45.880
Don't blame me
00:48:46.640 --> 00:48:49.560
Don't close your door
00:48:50.360 --> 00:48:53.960
Yes, I'm living day to day,
from a squat to another
00:48:54.280 --> 00:48:57.720
I sing so people would look at me
and just say hello briefly
00:49:16.880 --> 00:49:20.800
We will have
the presidential election results
00:49:21.000 --> 00:49:23.280
at 8 pm with first estimates.
00:49:23.480 --> 00:49:26.560
But before then,
we will have turnout rate estimates
00:49:26.880 --> 00:49:28.840
twice today,
at midday, and at 5 pm.
00:49:29.040 --> 00:49:32.240
We know the turnout
is a crucial aspect of this vote,
00:49:32.440 --> 00:49:35.840
and it will give clues
about this crucial day.
00:49:36.040 --> 00:49:37.720
We close down
this election chapter
00:49:38.040 --> 00:49:41.680
with the footage
of a polling station.
00:49:43.200 --> 00:49:46.320
In Afghanistan,
it is another national mourning day.
00:49:46.520 --> 00:49:48.800
The country is paying tribute
to the soldiers
00:49:49.000 --> 00:49:52.160
killed during an attack
on their base in Mazar-e-Sharif.
00:49:52.360 --> 00:49:54.880
Taliban insurgents
conducted the attack.
00:49:55.080 --> 00:49:57.200
Officially,
about 100 people were killed
00:49:57.400 --> 00:50:01.200
but this number may rise even more.
00:50:01.520 --> 00:50:02.600
Good morning, Mrs.
00:50:02.800 --> 00:50:04.400
Here. And your envelope.
00:50:04.600 --> 00:50:06.560
- Thank you.
- You're welcome.
00:50:09.040 --> 00:50:10.240
Perfect,
00:50:10.800 --> 00:50:12.280
here is your envelope.
00:50:22.280 --> 00:50:23.480
Good morning.
00:50:25.800 --> 00:50:28.200
- Sign here, at the bottom right.
- Here?
00:50:31.120 --> 00:50:33.560
Fine.
So, this is for you.
00:50:33.760 --> 00:50:36.760
Take the voting papers,
and the envelope.
00:50:43.400 --> 00:50:45.840
760. Jafari Ghorban.
00:50:46.040 --> 00:50:48.240
That's it.
The ballot in the box.
00:50:49.480 --> 00:50:51.840
- He voted.
- Thank you very much.
00:51:42.080 --> 00:51:43.240
Hi Ghorban.
00:51:48.640 --> 00:51:49.920
The "Barcelonese"!
00:51:50.600 --> 00:51:52.960
You put your glasses on, so chic!
00:51:53.280 --> 00:51:55.920
The fatter we get,
the slimmer you get!
00:51:56.600 --> 00:51:58.640
You got your residence permit?
00:51:58.840 --> 00:52:01.000
- My card? I got it.
- Yes, your ID card!
00:52:02.400 --> 00:52:03.480
It's in my coat.
00:52:04.560 --> 00:52:06.320
- Can you show it to me later?
- Yes.
00:52:06.520 --> 00:52:10.360
- You can see he's happy.
- He became a young European.
00:52:10.680 --> 00:52:12.280
His nose is getting straight!
00:52:14.880 --> 00:52:17.320
He's wearing glasses.
Soon, he'll have a motorbike!
00:52:18.200 --> 00:52:21.720
Since he's wearing glasses,
he's more serious.
00:52:22.720 --> 00:52:24.520
Look at me, Ghorban.
So serious!
00:52:28.040 --> 00:52:29.920
You don't look like the picture.
00:52:30.320 --> 00:52:31.880
Isn't it your brother?
00:52:42.880 --> 00:52:44.160
Congratulations.
00:53:12.120 --> 00:53:14.800
17, 08, 85,
00:53:15.560 --> 00:53:16.480
19...
00:53:20.680 --> 00:53:22.960
I think there may be
too many people.
00:53:23.840 --> 00:53:26.280
It doesn't work. It works but...
00:53:57.320 --> 00:53:59.680
Yes, I passed!
00:54:01.640 --> 00:54:03.800
Yes, it's written: admission!
00:54:05.160 --> 00:54:06.360
Admission!
00:54:14.280 --> 00:54:16.440
Wait, I'm calling my teacher.
00:54:32.160 --> 00:54:33.920
It makes me want to dance!
00:54:36.600 --> 00:54:38.360
It's been a while I haven't.
00:54:38.600 --> 00:54:40.560
You don't know how to dance anyway.
00:54:56.600 --> 00:54:59.200
When the music sounds,
sounds, sounds, sounds
00:54:59.400 --> 00:55:01.080
It never cheats
00:55:03.040 --> 00:55:04.560
When the music is good
00:55:06.200 --> 00:55:07.960
When the music is loud
00:55:09.760 --> 00:55:12.720
I don't care, at all
00:55:12.920 --> 00:55:15.720
About these chains hanging on me
00:55:16.480 --> 00:55:19.520
I run away, I forget
00:55:19.720 --> 00:55:23.840
I offer myself a parenthesis,
a break
00:55:24.560 --> 00:55:26.320
I'm walking alone
00:55:27.280 --> 00:55:29.680
Without witnesses, with no one
00:55:30.720 --> 00:55:34.280
My steps are echoing,
I'm walking alone
00:56:04.720 --> 00:56:06.160
Look at your eyes!
00:56:07.080 --> 00:56:09.000
- Why?
- Their color!
00:56:09.800 --> 00:56:11.560
Compare with mine!
00:56:13.840 --> 00:56:15.560
It's the same color.
00:56:15.760 --> 00:56:17.840
They are a bit green.
00:56:48.720 --> 00:56:50.880
- I soiled your scarf.
- It's fine.
00:57:18.880 --> 00:57:20.600
- We get down here?
- Yes.
00:57:22.160 --> 00:57:24.560
The road is bad. With holes.
00:57:29.640 --> 00:57:31.720
Speed up!
00:58:01.480 --> 00:58:03.320
It's a small house, it seems.
00:58:04.760 --> 00:58:06.760
- Is that one your house?
- Yes.
00:58:13.880 --> 00:58:16.000
- Can we go up, Mister Nader?
- Up? No.
00:58:16.200 --> 00:58:17.600
Let's get down here.
00:58:33.520 --> 00:58:35.840
My son.
May I sacrifice for you!
00:59:00.280 --> 00:59:01.520
How are you, Aziza?
00:59:02.280 --> 00:59:03.320
Hello.
00:59:09.640 --> 00:59:10.760
How are you, Mum?
00:59:10.960 --> 00:59:12.560
I'm good, my son.
00:59:16.200 --> 00:59:17.880
What are you doing?
00:59:20.040 --> 00:59:23.240
- Don't you remember your house?
- No.
00:59:23.440 --> 00:59:26.160
You've become a stranger,
you have no memories.
00:59:26.360 --> 00:59:27.880
It's mean to say that!
00:59:28.080 --> 00:59:29.840
You have no memories!
00:59:30.040 --> 00:59:33.040
- It's been ten years.
- No, it's been eleven years.
00:59:33.240 --> 00:59:35.160
Even so! It's not normal.
00:59:35.760 --> 00:59:37.920
You've become a stranger.
00:59:39.040 --> 00:59:41.000
Mummy, stop.
00:59:45.480 --> 00:59:47.920
It's no big deal,
I've stayed the same.
00:59:48.120 --> 00:59:49.640
This is your house?
00:59:51.360 --> 00:59:53.200
I can't remember, Mummy.
00:59:57.360 --> 00:59:59.120
Aziza, here is your cellphone.
00:59:59.760 --> 01:00:02.000
With headphones inside.
01:00:03.000 --> 01:00:05.280
There is a charger, a phone charger.
01:00:05.480 --> 01:00:07.000
And your cellphone as well.
01:00:07.600 --> 01:00:09.560
Mummy, I didn't know
what else to bring.
01:00:09.760 --> 01:00:12.520
So I bought painkillers.
01:00:16.520 --> 01:00:18.360
Here, look, this is for you.
01:00:20.000 --> 01:00:23.040
This one is mine, I give it to you.
01:00:27.440 --> 01:00:29.080
This is for you, Mehrab.
01:00:32.240 --> 01:00:33.880
And a pen...
01:00:34.080 --> 01:00:36.000
And toothpaste for you.
01:00:36.720 --> 01:00:38.920
And a toothbrush.
01:00:39.120 --> 01:00:41.440
Brush your teeth every morning, ok?
01:00:48.240 --> 01:00:49.280
Here, Sorhab.
01:00:52.560 --> 01:00:55.480
Mum, here is everything.
Look at what's left.
01:00:55.680 --> 01:00:57.640
You can give things to relatives.
01:00:57.840 --> 01:01:00.440
Creams and perfumes.
01:01:00.640 --> 01:01:04.080
It can be for the family,
to grandfather, grandmother...
01:01:15.200 --> 01:01:18.240
I brought nothing for my stepfather.
He will get angry.
01:01:19.560 --> 01:01:22.120
I have nothing for you stepfather.
You'll get upset.
01:01:22.320 --> 01:01:25.120
I didn't know his size.
01:01:28.120 --> 01:01:29.480
Give him a perfume
01:01:29.680 --> 01:01:33.840
and I will go to the village
to get him something.
01:01:45.840 --> 01:01:49.720
- I don't get it.
- Don't put your finger on it.
01:01:49.920 --> 01:01:52.040
Like that.
Push here with your finger.
01:01:55.960 --> 01:01:57.080
It's good?
01:01:58.280 --> 01:01:59.240
Sima!
01:02:04.320 --> 01:02:05.320
Sima, don't laugh.
01:02:05.520 --> 01:02:07.000
Don't laugh Sima.
01:02:07.760 --> 01:02:08.800
Open your eyes.
01:02:11.600 --> 01:02:12.600
Stop.
01:02:12.800 --> 01:02:14.360
Don't make her laugh.
01:02:17.280 --> 01:02:20.600
- Daddy is making me laugh.
- I said nothing.
01:02:20.800 --> 01:02:22.880
Children,
behave well for the picture.
01:02:29.280 --> 01:02:30.520
There are mosquitos.
01:02:30.720 --> 01:02:33.960
Put the scarf on your face.
01:02:34.440 --> 01:02:35.520
On my face?
01:02:35.720 --> 01:02:38.200
Put it to protect from the dust.
01:02:38.400 --> 01:02:40.400
- Do you know how to?
- No.
01:02:40.920 --> 01:02:42.160
Come, I'll do it.
01:02:42.480 --> 01:02:44.920
You can put it on this way...
01:02:46.000 --> 01:02:47.760
This scarf is full of holes!
01:02:47.960 --> 01:02:48.920
It's fashion!
01:02:52.200 --> 01:02:54.520
- You look like a Taliban!
- What's he doing?
01:02:57.560 --> 01:03:00.800
Look, you can put it this way.
01:03:01.600 --> 01:03:03.360
Yes, it's better.
01:03:06.040 --> 01:03:08.280
Like that, it's too long.
01:03:08.480 --> 01:03:11.840
No, Mum. It's fine, look.
01:03:12.040 --> 01:03:14.120
In France, it's that way.
01:03:16.600 --> 01:03:19.480
Thanks Mum.
Come, I'll give you a kiss.
01:03:19.840 --> 01:03:21.920
I haven't kissed my mother yet!
01:03:24.160 --> 01:03:25.760
My dear son.
01:04:10.520 --> 01:04:12.400
What is this farm style?
01:04:12.600 --> 01:04:14.280
Show him.
01:04:14.480 --> 01:04:15.800
Here, like that.
01:04:17.840 --> 01:04:19.440
The belt is not well.
01:04:26.680 --> 01:04:27.680
Let's go.
01:04:40.400 --> 01:04:41.880
Do you have a knife?
01:04:42.920 --> 01:04:45.480
The knife!
You didn't bring the knife.
01:05:08.120 --> 01:05:09.480
It's done?
01:05:14.040 --> 01:05:15.600
You killed it easily!
01:05:25.120 --> 01:05:27.520
This sheep is
very important to them.
01:05:27.720 --> 01:05:30.040
We believe in that.
01:05:30.240 --> 01:05:32.240
In the name of God.
01:05:32.440 --> 01:05:35.320
We sacrificed it
in the name of God, to bless it.
01:05:35.520 --> 01:05:37.320
Listen.
01:05:37.520 --> 01:05:40.600
We sacrificed a rooster for you
each year.
01:05:41.080 --> 01:05:42.640
Once a year?
01:05:42.840 --> 01:05:45.280
But I wasn't here to eat it.
01:05:54.520 --> 01:05:56.480
Listen,
I did the prayer of sacrifice.
01:05:56.800 --> 01:06:02.440
I prayed a lot for you,
and respected the tradition.
01:06:02.640 --> 01:06:04.880
I prayed several times a day.
01:06:06.040 --> 01:06:11.160
I asked God to forgive me
for not having been a good mother.
01:06:11.920 --> 01:06:14.680
When you were babies,
I took care of you.
01:06:14.880 --> 01:06:16.080
But you left.
01:06:16.280 --> 01:06:18.480
I pray God so he accepts it.
01:06:18.680 --> 01:06:21.480
It worked. I moved forward
thanks to your prayers.
01:06:28.120 --> 01:06:29.880
And your mosque is finished?
01:06:30.880 --> 01:06:33.560
No, the roof is still missing.
01:06:33.760 --> 01:06:37.080
How long for?
It's well done, in mud.
01:06:37.280 --> 01:06:38.480
It's in mud, yes.
01:06:38.680 --> 01:06:42.880
It's the way, here.
There is no engineer.
01:06:43.080 --> 01:06:45.160
A bit of plaster, and here it is.
01:06:47.800 --> 01:06:50.160
- Do you pray?
- No.
01:06:51.440 --> 01:06:53.120
What can I say.
01:06:53.720 --> 01:06:56.080
Did you give up your religion?
01:06:56.280 --> 01:06:58.360
No, I pray once a year.
01:06:59.960 --> 01:07:01.240
Once a year!
01:07:01.440 --> 01:07:03.080
You have to pray correctly.
01:07:03.280 --> 01:07:06.000
No, once a year is good enough.
01:07:17.320 --> 01:07:18.800
- He will cry.
- Who?
01:07:19.000 --> 01:07:21.960
Your grandfather never cries!
01:07:22.160 --> 01:07:24.160
Your granddaddy won't cry.
01:07:24.360 --> 01:07:26.440
Yes, that's him!
01:08:19.080 --> 01:08:22.480
Sorhab, go forward
to tell them we're coming.
01:08:23.120 --> 01:08:25.040
Go warn them.
01:08:27.960 --> 01:08:29.560
Your grandfather is not home.
01:08:29.760 --> 01:08:31.880
- Their door is closed.
- We'll find them.
01:08:41.640 --> 01:08:43.640
There were trees here?
01:08:44.680 --> 01:08:46.640
It's so small!
01:08:46.840 --> 01:08:49.440
When I was little,
it seemed so big, auntie!
01:08:49.640 --> 01:08:51.600
You were so small, that's why.
01:08:53.040 --> 01:08:54.280
Ok, let's go.
01:08:54.480 --> 01:08:55.400
Don't we wait?
01:08:55.600 --> 01:08:57.000
Ok, let's get inside.
01:09:19.160 --> 01:09:21.480
- Who is he?
- It's a picture of your father.
01:09:21.680 --> 01:09:22.920
My father?
01:09:25.760 --> 01:09:28.000
I can't remember his face!
01:09:32.400 --> 01:09:34.880
Thanks, sweet auntie.
01:09:44.160 --> 01:09:45.920
Do you have a tissue
for your tears?
01:09:46.120 --> 01:09:47.880
Me? I don't cry.
01:09:49.120 --> 01:09:51.360
You'll see,
you will have heart ache.
01:09:51.560 --> 01:09:53.960
No, my heart is made of stone.
01:09:54.280 --> 01:09:55.680
I never cry.
01:09:56.680 --> 01:10:00.040
Without a heart of stone,
I would never have reached France.
01:10:08.160 --> 01:10:09.480
Hello, Granma.
01:10:10.680 --> 01:10:15.360
My dear Ghorban, you abandoned us.
01:10:16.120 --> 01:10:19.360
Why did you abandon us?
01:10:21.080 --> 01:10:25.840
When you left,
our life was shattered.
01:10:26.960 --> 01:10:30.320
Our little Ghorban. Where was he?
01:10:31.320 --> 01:10:34.520
Our little Ghorban,
what would we become?
01:10:34.920 --> 01:10:36.520
Dear Ghorban.
01:10:36.720 --> 01:10:41.600
Your grandfather and I
were left alone.
01:10:43.640 --> 01:10:46.720
Our little Ghorban, where was he?
01:10:46.920 --> 01:10:48.760
Enough, stop crying.
01:10:50.280 --> 01:10:54.200
Let me cry with my little Ghorban.
01:11:20.960 --> 01:11:21.960
Hello.
01:11:22.160 --> 01:11:23.440
How are you?
01:11:24.000 --> 01:11:25.920
Are you fine?
01:11:31.040 --> 01:11:33.920
- How are you Grandpa?
- Good, thank God. Sit here.
01:11:34.120 --> 01:11:36.080
- I'll sit there.
- In the light.
01:11:37.480 --> 01:11:40.400
- How are you?
- Good. What about you?
01:11:40.600 --> 01:11:42.200
Son, you're so skinny!
01:11:42.400 --> 01:11:44.000
- It's your fault!
- Sorry?
01:11:44.200 --> 01:11:46.680
He says it's your fault!
01:11:47.240 --> 01:11:48.880
I think a lot about you!
01:11:49.080 --> 01:11:53.600
Really?
By God, why are you so skinny?
01:11:59.080 --> 01:12:01.200
Son, I heard
01:12:01.520 --> 01:12:04.960
you had gone abroad,
like your brother before you.
01:12:05.280 --> 01:12:08.120
So I called relatives.
01:12:08.320 --> 01:12:10.560
People from the village.
01:12:11.640 --> 01:12:14.720
I called and asked:
01:12:15.680 --> 01:12:17.040
"Where are they?"
01:12:18.160 --> 01:12:19.600
They answered:
01:12:19.800 --> 01:12:23.240
"Why do you ask that question?
01:12:23.720 --> 01:12:26.720
"Your grandchildren drowned at sea,
01:12:26.920 --> 01:12:29.000
"like the neighbor's orphans."
01:12:30.280 --> 01:12:33.080
I couldn't bare that.
01:12:33.280 --> 01:12:37.480
I never spoke about it
to your mother.
01:12:38.240 --> 01:12:41.760
I knew her heart would explode
01:12:41.960 --> 01:12:44.800
if I told her.
01:12:45.440 --> 01:12:47.960
That was the news, son.
01:12:48.160 --> 01:12:50.880
We looked for you, looked, looked.
01:12:51.200 --> 01:12:54.120
"Where is our little boy?
Did he really drown at sea?
01:12:54.320 --> 01:12:57.720
"Did he reach a foreign country
or not?"
01:12:58.600 --> 01:13:00.480
That was it, son.
01:13:00.680 --> 01:13:05.840
How much money we spent
to find your number.
01:13:08.000 --> 01:13:09.160
Did you find it?
01:13:09.360 --> 01:13:12.960
One day, when I went to the village,
01:13:13.440 --> 01:13:17.440
your mother was happy
because you had just called her.
01:13:18.080 --> 01:13:20.160
- Were you happy too?
- What?
01:13:20.360 --> 01:13:22.880
- Were you happy too?
- Of course, I was!
01:13:23.080 --> 01:13:26.360
Who wouldn't be?
You were so small
01:13:27.280 --> 01:13:28.840
when I took care of you.
01:13:29.160 --> 01:13:32.160
Whether good or bad,
we were together!
01:13:32.520 --> 01:13:34.040
Isn't it true?
01:13:34.480 --> 01:13:38.360
I'm the one who raised you,
whether good or bad.
01:13:41.640 --> 01:13:44.040
Now you know what to do.
01:13:44.240 --> 01:13:47.000
You see that your grandpa
can't work anymore.
01:13:47.200 --> 01:13:50.120
I won't let you down grandpa.
01:13:50.680 --> 01:13:53.280
Your grandson is alive,
he will help you.
01:13:53.480 --> 01:13:57.560
May God grant you
a long and healthy life.
01:13:57.880 --> 01:14:00.240
Anyway,
I'm reaching the end of my life.
01:14:10.880 --> 01:14:13.080
We have to speak
about something else.
01:14:14.640 --> 01:14:16.320
We need to find you a woman.
01:14:16.520 --> 01:14:17.720
- For me?
- Yes.
01:14:17.920 --> 01:14:19.880
No, Grandpa, after my studies.
01:14:20.080 --> 01:14:21.840
You must choose before you're done!
01:14:22.040 --> 01:14:24.600
Ok, if you find someone before that,
then yes.
01:14:26.800 --> 01:14:27.800
Son,
01:14:28.120 --> 01:14:32.080
I will organize a meeting
with the daughter of...
01:14:32.280 --> 01:14:33.440
Rasul, yes?
01:14:33.640 --> 01:14:34.960
Rasul's daughter.
01:14:35.440 --> 01:14:37.640
Not her, grandpa,
01:14:37.840 --> 01:14:40.920
I don't know her.
She seems pretentious.
01:14:41.120 --> 01:14:42.120
It's complicated.
01:14:42.480 --> 01:14:44.360
She's a beautiful girl.
01:14:45.080 --> 01:14:47.840
I told her if she wasn't promised
to someone else,
01:14:48.040 --> 01:14:49.800
I had a very nice grandson.
01:14:50.560 --> 01:14:53.320
Well,
I don't know if she's still single.
01:14:55.680 --> 01:14:59.000
Grandpa,
you approach girls like that!
01:14:59.200 --> 01:15:00.240
Yes.
01:15:00.840 --> 01:15:04.680
I thought it could
become useful one day.
01:15:04.880 --> 01:15:06.440
No worries.
01:15:06.760 --> 01:15:09.120
But let me first go back to France.
01:15:11.560 --> 01:15:15.720
When you left,
we suffered from loneliness.
01:15:15.920 --> 01:15:17.720
We were alone.
01:15:17.920 --> 01:15:21.400
There was just your grandma, and me.
01:16:07.800 --> 01:16:09.920
Wake up for the meal,
01:16:10.720 --> 01:16:12.800
to eat a bite.
01:16:13.640 --> 01:16:15.640
I prepared spaghetti.
01:16:15.840 --> 01:16:17.160
- What?
- Spaghetti.
01:16:17.360 --> 01:16:19.640
- Do you have spaghetti, here?
- Do you like it?
01:16:19.840 --> 01:16:21.240
Where do you get them?
01:16:21.440 --> 01:16:23.600
Me? At the market.
01:16:25.240 --> 01:16:27.000
I forgot to buy sodas.
01:16:30.040 --> 01:16:32.240
I forgot sodas.
01:16:32.800 --> 01:16:34.400
- Do you want some?
- No.
01:16:37.520 --> 01:16:38.960
Come on, wake up.
01:16:46.240 --> 01:16:48.680
Put your head down on my knees.
01:16:50.760 --> 01:16:53.160
You're acting like a small child,
like a baby.
01:16:53.360 --> 01:16:54.560
I'm not anymore.
01:16:54.760 --> 01:16:57.800
For me, you will always be small.
I'm your mother.
01:16:58.000 --> 01:17:00.320
When I was small, you weren't there.
01:17:00.520 --> 01:17:02.560
But I loved you.
01:17:03.440 --> 01:17:05.400
And you left.
01:17:05.600 --> 01:17:08.120
Thank God, you managed to study,
01:17:08.320 --> 01:17:10.320
and become someone.
01:17:10.520 --> 01:17:12.960
But it hurt me when you left.
01:17:13.280 --> 01:17:15.440
It was your fault, not mine.
01:17:16.640 --> 01:17:19.280
- Wasn't it?
- No, and not mine either.
01:17:20.280 --> 01:17:22.920
It wasn't my fault.
I was left alone.
01:17:38.320 --> 01:17:39.520
Are you crying?
01:17:42.640 --> 01:17:44.800
You will never understand.
01:17:45.600 --> 01:17:49.960
I suffered so much.
01:17:55.360 --> 01:17:56.400
Don't cry.
01:17:56.600 --> 01:17:58.800
Your brother told me:
"It's your fault."
01:17:59.000 --> 01:18:01.200
But I had no place to go to.
What to do?
01:18:02.560 --> 01:18:04.720
Your grandfather was furious.
01:18:09.760 --> 01:18:12.680
And you said:
"That's it. My mother remarried,
01:18:12.880 --> 01:18:14.200
"she abandoned us.
01:18:14.800 --> 01:18:16.400
"And we are suffering."
01:18:19.320 --> 01:18:20.680
Get up.
01:18:29.160 --> 01:18:30.520
Why are you crying?
01:18:34.200 --> 01:18:37.360
You said:
"That's it. My mother remarried..."
01:18:37.560 --> 01:18:39.400
What do I know, Mummy.
01:18:39.600 --> 01:18:42.640
That is your problem, not mine!
01:18:45.320 --> 01:18:50.600
You said:
"That's it. My mother remarried.
01:18:50.800 --> 01:18:53.640
"She's having food
and we're starving."
01:18:56.000 --> 01:18:58.640
But you were adult,
and we were so small.
01:18:58.840 --> 01:19:02.440
You were the adult,
you should have thought about it.
01:19:02.640 --> 01:19:05.160
I did,
but it didn't change anything.
01:19:06.000 --> 01:19:11.680
You were young at the time,
you thought only about remarrying.
01:19:11.880 --> 01:19:15.800
My grandfather was inhuman.
He was illiterate.
01:19:16.480 --> 01:19:19.800
Your grandfather insisted.
It was war.
01:19:20.000 --> 01:19:22.880
Your uncle forced us.
01:19:24.360 --> 01:19:28.600
I was told to leave with relatives
01:19:29.840 --> 01:19:34.680
and I refused to abandon you.
01:19:35.640 --> 01:19:39.680
They hit us with their weapons.
01:19:39.880 --> 01:19:42.000
I was scared they would kill you.
01:19:46.120 --> 01:19:48.880
It wasn't his fault either.
01:19:50.640 --> 01:19:52.000
It was nobody's fault.
01:19:52.200 --> 01:19:54.280
All this is because of your uncle...
01:19:54.480 --> 01:19:57.720
Mummy, it wasn't your fault,
it was mine.
01:19:58.720 --> 01:20:00.400
It was your uncle's fault.
01:20:01.680 --> 01:20:02.920
Enough, cousin, enough!
01:20:03.800 --> 01:20:06.280
He's saying it was my fault!
01:20:06.480 --> 01:20:08.760
Auntie,
I didn't say it was her fault.
01:20:08.960 --> 01:20:11.760
I said it's everybody's fault.
01:20:11.960 --> 01:20:15.920
Everyone, including my uncle...
01:20:16.840 --> 01:20:19.120
What could a young woman do?
01:20:20.200 --> 01:20:24.040
It's ok, enough,
it's a thing from the past.
01:20:24.520 --> 01:20:27.200
Yes, past is past, let's forget.
01:20:35.600 --> 01:20:37.800
Why are you telling old stories?
01:20:38.000 --> 01:20:42.240
I was sleeping,
I didn't say anything.
01:20:42.440 --> 01:20:44.800
Yes, it's not your fault,
you're innocent.
01:20:45.000 --> 01:20:47.000
You did nothing. Nothing.
01:20:47.200 --> 01:20:48.200
Nothing.
01:20:51.880 --> 01:20:54.000
How are you? Come here.
01:20:55.120 --> 01:20:57.000
It's your mother who's crying.
01:20:57.320 --> 01:20:58.680
Why did she cry?
01:20:58.880 --> 01:21:01.240
She remembered her past.
01:21:01.920 --> 01:21:03.680
She cries for nothing.
01:21:07.440 --> 01:21:09.880
Don't make her sad. Comfort her.
01:21:11.080 --> 01:21:14.120
Because of you, she's gotten old.
She's broken.
01:21:14.320 --> 01:21:16.600
Can't you see how she's become?
01:21:17.120 --> 01:21:19.560
When you come,
you should comfort her.
01:21:20.600 --> 01:21:22.640
Otherwise we will lose her.
01:22:07.400 --> 01:22:09.160
Here's your mother's life.
01:22:10.760 --> 01:22:12.360
I'm proud of it.
01:22:12.760 --> 01:22:14.920
No, we are proud of you!
01:22:58.960 --> 01:23:01.720
Go wake up this child.
Why is he not waking up?
01:23:07.160 --> 01:23:09.120
Why not?
01:23:10.160 --> 01:23:11.840
He has nothing to do or what?
01:24:23.600 --> 01:24:25.280
Ghorban is still sleeping?
01:24:30.040 --> 01:24:31.920
When I left, he was.
01:24:33.400 --> 01:24:38.280
The small bulbs
01:24:38.480 --> 01:24:41.360
are breaking my back.
01:24:42.000 --> 01:24:44.440
Yes, we have to harvest them too.
01:24:44.640 --> 01:24:46.920
By God, even if there's no sap.
01:25:06.320 --> 01:25:09.560
My hands are so cold
that I can barely move them.
01:25:26.600 --> 01:25:30.680
Dear love, do not think
01:25:30.880 --> 01:25:34.240
About the year to come
01:25:34.520 --> 01:25:39.320
What did you do with my heart?
01:25:41.600 --> 01:25:45.240
I will never forget
01:25:45.440 --> 01:25:49.240
What you did with my heart?
01:25:53.480 --> 01:25:54.600
Hello.
01:25:55.360 --> 01:25:56.840
Do you harvest opium?
01:25:57.560 --> 01:25:58.520
How are you?
01:25:58.840 --> 01:26:00.320
How much is left?
01:26:00.520 --> 01:26:03.960
These in the front
and some more on the side.
01:26:04.840 --> 01:26:06.600
How much longer?
01:26:06.800 --> 01:26:09.000
An hour or two.
01:26:09.480 --> 01:26:11.880
- An hour or two.
- No, less.
01:26:12.080 --> 01:26:15.480
You make the children
work too much for the opium.
01:26:15.680 --> 01:26:17.160
We have no choice.
01:26:17.360 --> 01:26:21.320
We suffer a lot
and we'll sell it off.
01:26:22.160 --> 01:26:23.160
And for what?
01:26:23.360 --> 01:26:27.680
There, a kilo is sold a million.
01:26:28.440 --> 01:26:30.200
And it's not a million afghanis!
01:26:30.400 --> 01:26:32.520
Can you bring a kilo back?
01:26:32.720 --> 01:26:34.840
No, if they catch me,
I'll go to jail.
01:26:35.600 --> 01:26:37.160
I won't last 10 years in jail.
01:26:37.360 --> 01:26:39.360
In Iran, they would hang you!
01:26:39.560 --> 01:26:41.280
Yes, they would.
01:26:43.040 --> 01:26:44.520
Aziza, are you cold?
01:26:46.400 --> 01:26:48.760
Why don't you wear better shoes?
01:26:48.960 --> 01:26:51.440
These shoes
are not meant for working.
01:26:55.080 --> 01:26:56.720
I have sneakers.
01:26:56.920 --> 01:26:59.040
- Why don't you wear them?
- Don't know.
01:26:59.240 --> 01:27:01.360
Look how you're harvesting opium.
01:27:01.560 --> 01:27:02.920
Look at your hands.
01:27:05.080 --> 01:27:06.440
I'm standing on your feet.
01:27:06.640 --> 01:27:09.200
Put your shoes under
not to wet your feet.
01:27:10.520 --> 01:27:12.960
You left a foot in the grass.
01:27:13.680 --> 01:27:15.000
Put the other one here.
01:27:28.400 --> 01:27:29.760
It hurts me...
01:27:31.080 --> 01:27:32.720
to see them like that.
01:27:52.400 --> 01:27:54.240
After all, I'm not dead.
01:27:54.440 --> 01:27:55.760
I am here,
01:27:55.960 --> 01:27:57.400
and I will help them.
