Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Tomer Heymann’s latest film is a deeply emotional work that follows an outcast teenager’s life-changing journey. Oren was adopted from Guatemala by an Israeli family when he was a baby. Long unable to find his place in society, the teenager has been subject to ridicule because of his communication difficulties, while at the same time dealing with recurring false diagnoses of mental illness. Oren decides to take up a small video camera and document his own life. He embarks on a quest back to the country of his birth to seek out his biological family in the hopes of better defining his own identity.

00:00:14.120 --> 00:00:20.320
There, at the end of the world,
woman, I keep all of our love,
00:00:20.440 --> 00:00:26.120
The love between us
I keep only for you
00:00:26.480 --> 00:00:32.200
There, at the end of the world.
00:00:33.560 --> 00:00:39.520
Because the love between us
tears my heart apart
00:00:40.360 --> 00:00:46.520
Because the love between us is wild
and more painful than anything
00:00:47.000 --> 00:00:53.760
There, there, across the sea,
I dream, woman, of all our love,
00:00:53.840 --> 00:00:56.520
A love that will live with us
in our house,
00:00:56.600 --> 00:00:59.480
I dream more and more.
00:00:59.920 --> 00:01:05.760
There, just there.
Across the sea.
00:01:06.880 --> 00:01:13.200
Because the love between us
tears my heart apart...
00:01:31.040 --> 00:01:32.240
Dad?
00:01:32.680 --> 00:01:34.800
I don't wanna come home!
00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:35.920
Just because!
00:01:36.200 --> 00:01:38.440
Suddenly it's important
to have me home
00:01:38.560 --> 00:01:42.440
after you sent me to boarding school?
Now you want me home on Friday?
00:01:42.680 --> 00:01:44.360
So important to you.
00:01:44.640 --> 00:01:47.400
No, I'm not on my meds
and I'm more focused than you are.
00:01:47.480 --> 00:01:50.040
I don't think I even need
those meds now
00:01:50.160 --> 00:01:51.920
because I'm pissed at you.
00:01:53.200 --> 00:01:55.520
That I have to go back
to that disgusting house.
00:01:56.200 --> 00:02:00.400
I'll sleep at the bus station till Sunday.
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:02.360
Bye.
00:02:03.120 --> 00:02:04.200
Moron.
00:02:13.840 --> 00:02:15.840
What a son of a bitch,
that dad is.
00:02:16.080 --> 00:02:18.000
Total son of a bitch.
00:02:39.760 --> 00:02:42.360
Wednesday is always a crappy day
for me.
00:02:42.680 --> 00:02:46.600
I don't know how to explain it,
I just suddenly get pissed.
00:02:48.120 --> 00:02:51.240
And that screws up my Thursday.
00:03:00.200 --> 00:03:03.440
I dunno. I have times when
I get in a shitty mood.
00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:06.360
I don't understand myself.
00:03:12.240 --> 00:03:15.160
First of all, whoever doesn't know me,
I'm Oren Levy.
00:03:17.280 --> 00:03:20.440
I want to be a film director.
00:03:23.880 --> 00:03:27.200
This is a class where we study
film once a week.
00:03:28.640 --> 00:03:34.920
We learn to shoot, direct, edit.
I write screenplays too.
00:03:48.160 --> 00:03:52.320
I feel it’s my escape from the boarding school.
From all the problems there.
00:03:52.400 --> 00:03:54.120
It's my refuge.
00:03:54.840 --> 00:04:00.240
It helps me release
aggression and anger.
00:04:03.200 --> 00:04:06.040
This camera, I think it's
a magic camera.
00:04:18.880 --> 00:04:19.920
Oren, are you here?
00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:22.240
Look, do you see this?
00:04:22.560 --> 00:04:24.280
The sugar, it's open.
00:04:24.800 --> 00:04:26.040
Are you even listening?
00:04:26.120 --> 00:04:27.640
Are you really listening to me?
00:04:27.800 --> 00:04:29.600
Why are your eyes red?
00:04:31.200 --> 00:04:32.960
Oren, I need you to listen for a minute.
00:04:33.120 --> 00:04:35.600
Ask him if he wants pizza,
to see if he's paying attention.
00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:36.800
Yes!
00:04:37.000 --> 00:04:38.560
Oren, there's sugar here…
00:04:38.760 --> 00:04:41.680
Dad is worried about ants.
-Okay.
00:04:42.360 --> 00:04:46.040
If you make yourself a hot drink,
00:04:46.080 --> 00:04:48.640
the kettle is broken, Oren.
00:04:49.000 --> 00:04:50.960
The kettle is broken.
-So, I should boil water?
00:04:51.040 --> 00:04:53.760
You should boil water. But Boiling water
isn't the problem.
00:04:53.840 --> 00:04:55.560
Fine, so get to the point already.
00:04:55.640 --> 00:04:58.680
The point is not to spill sugar everywhere.
-No problem.
00:04:58.760 --> 00:05:01.160
There is a problem!
-There's no problem!
00:05:10.880 --> 00:05:12.280
Let's burn this computer now.
00:05:13.240 --> 00:05:15.840
Burn it, make a bonfire on it.
00:05:16.400 --> 00:05:17.720
I'm gonna torch your computer.
00:05:17.960 --> 00:05:20.320
You're not torching it.
All of my work is on it.
00:05:20.320 --> 00:05:24.040
Everything I just uploaded got erased!
00:05:24.600 --> 00:05:25.320
Really?
00:05:25.560 --> 00:05:28.680
Because of that cheapskate
who won't buy a new computer.
00:05:28.760 --> 00:05:29.800
Oren...
00:05:30.400 --> 00:05:33.040
It's got to be there somewhere…
00:05:33.040 --> 00:05:35.960
He'll fix it! He'll buy me a computer...
00:05:36.080 --> 00:05:38.280
He'll shoot it all again.
Cheapskate!
00:05:38.360 --> 00:05:40.240
Maybe he isn't cheap,
he just doesn't have the money?
00:05:40.360 --> 00:05:42.640
I'm not rushing to spend a fortune,
00:05:42.640 --> 00:05:45.160
because of all of our expenses,
on you, for instance.
00:05:45.560 --> 00:05:48.360
It's erased.
What a son-of-a-bitch, this dad.
00:05:48.480 --> 00:05:51.640
Sorry, Oren,
I can't stand to hear you complaining.
00:05:51.720 --> 00:05:53.040
You can speak nicer.
00:05:53.240 --> 00:05:54.360
I speak very nicely.
00:05:54.440 --> 00:05:55.920
No.
-Yes, I do.
00:05:56.200 --> 00:05:57.760
Oren.
-What?
00:05:57.880 --> 00:05:59.560
Cool it, okay?
-You cool it.
00:06:00.400 --> 00:06:01.160
Jerk.
00:06:12.880 --> 00:06:13.840
Dvora.
-What?
00:06:13.960 --> 00:06:15.760
Maybe he still wants to come with us?
00:06:16.360 --> 00:06:17.760
Do you?
-No.
00:06:20.680 --> 00:06:21.480
Tzili.
00:06:23.680 --> 00:06:24.520
Tzili.
00:06:28.280 --> 00:06:30.080
What a cutie!
00:06:33.280 --> 00:06:34.480
Are you leaving?
00:06:36.760 --> 00:06:40.160
Are you ever leaving? -Yes.
-It's already five.
00:06:40.560 --> 00:06:44.240
Have you planned what to do
while you're here alone?
00:06:44.320 --> 00:06:47.680
I have to work on my script.
-Great.
00:06:47.800 --> 00:06:50.080
Why is Michal on the phone
with her friends?
00:06:50.760 --> 00:06:53.080
I don't like it.
00:06:58.720 --> 00:06:59.680
The nerve!
00:07:00.640 --> 00:07:01.560
What do you want?
00:07:01.720 --> 00:07:03.920
They have to leave
and you're chatting on the phone?
00:07:03.960 --> 00:07:05.280
She knows I'm ready.
00:07:05.600 --> 00:07:07.360
"She knows I'm ready…"
00:07:08.480 --> 00:07:09.800
Oren, lock up after us.
00:07:09.880 --> 00:07:13.240
Oren, please come help
us with the door. Oren!
00:07:13.360 --> 00:07:14.440
Fine.
00:07:14.480 --> 00:07:15.200
Bye.
00:07:15.320 --> 00:07:16.080
Bye-bye.
00:07:16.200 --> 00:07:18.200
Good day, Shabbat shalom.
00:07:19.800 --> 00:07:23.760
Oren, are you helping us with the door?
-Yes, I'm helping with the door.
00:07:23.760 --> 00:07:25.720
Bye, have fun.
-Bye!
00:07:25.720 --> 00:07:28.520
Look up when you say goodbye to me.
-Bye!
00:07:31.440 --> 00:07:34.080
What a pain in the ass.
-Oren!
00:07:34.320 --> 00:07:35.920
No, no, no, what?
00:07:35.920 --> 00:07:37.200
Open the door, say goodbye!
00:07:37.200 --> 00:07:39.200
Fine.
-Open it now.
00:07:39.200 --> 00:07:40.760
What a pain that dad is.
00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:43.880
Bye.
-Close it now.
00:07:52.720 --> 00:07:55.240
Okay, hi everyone at boarding school.
00:07:55.400 --> 00:08:00.800
What can I tell you guys?
I don't have so much to say.
00:08:04.520 --> 00:08:06.160
Here are all my memories.
00:08:09.440 --> 00:08:11.360
I was born in Guatemala.
00:08:12.240 --> 00:08:14.000
I figured it out at a young age
00:08:14.160 --> 00:08:18.760
because white parents with a brown kid
didn't make a lotta sense.
00:08:21.520 --> 00:08:23.600
What else can I tell you?
00:08:24.680 --> 00:08:26.360
I love clocks.
00:08:26.520 --> 00:08:30.160
I had a watch, a Breitling,
a real one…
00:08:30.280 --> 00:08:36.640
I lent it to my friend, he swore he’d return it
in a couple days, but he didn't.
00:08:36.640 --> 00:08:41.640
Maybe it's not true, but it's what
I remember. I was about 13 then.
00:08:46.480 --> 00:08:53.720
My mom is a teacher.
My dad is a biologist, which is a doctor.
00:08:53.720 --> 00:08:54.920
This is my annoying sister.
00:08:54.920 --> 00:08:59.360
They brought her from Guatemala too,
but from different parents.
00:09:01.520 --> 00:09:03.200
This is my room.
00:09:03.560 --> 00:09:08.360
I drew this during my hardest time,
because it comforted me.
00:09:11.440 --> 00:09:13.320
"Alonim – a shitty place"
00:09:13.960 --> 00:09:15.600
That was my first school.
00:09:15.800 --> 00:09:18.840
I was there for 2 days
and they kicked me out.
00:09:20.800 --> 00:09:24.800
And here I wrote:
I’m not going to any school or institution.
00:09:32.280 --> 00:09:35.040
And this is my dad,
Ehud Levy.
00:09:35.160 --> 00:09:38.240
I talk to him sometimes
when I'm here alone.
00:09:39.560 --> 00:09:41.240
"Ehud is a maniac".
00:09:55.120 --> 00:09:56.440
What did you say?
00:09:56.520 --> 00:09:58.640
I'm just laughing.
00:09:58.720 --> 00:10:02.000
Open the car. -What?
I wasn't talking about you.
00:10:02.280 --> 00:10:05.600
Let's get in the car,
I don't wanna fight.
00:10:06.040 --> 00:10:09.240
So why do you ensure we fight?
-I wasn't imitating you.
00:10:09.400 --> 00:10:12.040
Why can't we have fun together?
00:10:12.040 --> 00:10:14.360
We'll have fun,
open the car!
00:10:14.360 --> 00:10:16.040
When, at the restaurant?
00:10:16.160 --> 00:10:17.160
Enough...
00:10:17.240 --> 00:10:21.000
At the doctor's office?
00:10:21.080 --> 00:10:23.240
Was it nice
at the doctor's office?
00:10:23.280 --> 00:10:27.520
Dad, I wasn't nice,
I yelled at you, I admit.
00:10:27.520 --> 00:10:29.440
So it'll stop at the restaurant?
00:10:29.520 --> 00:10:33.200
It won't stop at the restaurant
I'll scream at you. Just open the car!
00:10:33.320 --> 00:10:34.920
When will this story end?
00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:36.760
It'll stop, okay?
-When?
00:10:36.760 --> 00:10:39.160
I don't give a fuck
when it stops.
00:10:40.680 --> 00:10:44.120
So you don't give a...?
-Fuck? -Yes.
00:10:44.600 --> 00:10:46.720
You took it too personally.
00:10:46.800 --> 00:10:49.120
Now you'll be offended for days.
00:10:51.560 --> 00:10:53.080
Fine, be offended.
00:10:55.520 --> 00:10:59.840
All I said was...
-I want to know
00:10:59.920 --> 00:11:02.320
where you're headed with
this way of behaving.
00:11:02.400 --> 00:11:04.640
I'm headed for delinquency, Dad.
00:11:04.760 --> 00:11:08.080
Where are you trying to end up?
-Nowhere!
00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:10.840
Someone who wants to be independent
00:11:10.840 --> 00:11:13.960
and then fights with people
who strengthen him.
00:11:14.080 --> 00:11:16.760
When I'm independent,
I won't talk to you so much.
00:11:17.000 --> 00:11:21.000
I want to be independent,
I don't want help from anyone.
00:11:23.080 --> 00:11:24.920
We'll part as friends.
00:11:25.200 --> 00:11:30.440
Thank you very much.
What an uplifting thing to say.
00:11:53.080 --> 00:11:57.640
Until he was 3, Oren didn't string
more than two words together.
00:11:57.720 --> 00:12:00.040
He didn't build sentences.
00:12:01.920 --> 00:12:03.920
Then one day,
00:12:04.160 --> 00:12:06.240
he had some stitches removed.
00:12:07.640 --> 00:12:11.000
A doctor, a nurse,
white gowns, a sterile room.
00:12:11.120 --> 00:12:13.840
All that scariness, all those instruments.
00:12:15.520 --> 00:12:17.320
And Oren says:
00:12:17.440 --> 00:12:21.320
"Doctor, please do it gently
so it doesn't hurt".
00:12:27.480 --> 00:12:31.040
It was an encouraging,
an empowering moment.
00:12:31.560 --> 00:12:35.840
There's more to the child
than what we see.
00:12:36.560 --> 00:12:38.840
What's the reason that
he can't let it out?
00:12:39.280 --> 00:12:41.520
But he has it.
00:12:48.800 --> 00:12:51.680
The second positive milestone
was when he was 8.
00:12:51.760 --> 00:12:54.000
It was a wintry day.
00:12:54.880 --> 00:12:59.520
Oren looks out and says:
"What a wonderful day it is today."
00:13:01.600 --> 00:13:04.840
"All the trees are blowing in the wind"
00:13:05.320 --> 00:13:07.920
"The dew is dripping from the leaves"
00:13:08.800 --> 00:13:12.320
"How can you refuse a day like this?"
00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:15.840
That's the poem,
which for me is a perfect poem.
00:13:16.400 --> 00:13:20.120
Including that the trees are blowing in the wind
and not the other way around.
00:13:22.640 --> 00:13:26.560
Those are wonderful moments
that you dream about.
00:13:27.360 --> 00:13:32.120
And the pain is that if Oren could
embrace that side of himself,
00:13:32.480 --> 00:13:36.800
it would have taken him
to wonderful places.
00:13:48.000 --> 00:13:49.440
Oren, see you later.
00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:52.680
Where is he?
00:13:52.760 --> 00:13:54.320
Bye, Dad!
-Oren!
00:13:54.440 --> 00:13:56.440
Keep me posted from the road.
-I don't have a phone.
00:13:56.560 --> 00:13:59.040
Please let me know when you get there.
Wait.
00:13:59.320 --> 00:14:00.520
Wait a minute.
00:14:00.640 --> 00:14:03.160
You'll take your meds...
-Yeah. -Wait!
00:14:03.320 --> 00:14:05.840
I want to get back to sleep.
-Diligently.
00:14:06.000 --> 00:14:08.920
The cream twice a day at first, then once...
-I know!
00:14:09.680 --> 00:14:10.440
Bye.
00:14:28.080 --> 00:14:29.600
I never dance.
00:14:32.080 --> 00:14:37.240
I want to start.
I want to meet some girls too.
00:14:38.720 --> 00:14:42.200
My dream was to go to a regular
school with a prom queen.
00:14:42.200 --> 00:14:47.320
A nerd, a cool guy, a geek...
It's just a dream, you know.
00:14:51.800 --> 00:14:58.240
I wanna try dining out at night,
going to clubs, dancing a little.
00:14:59.760 --> 00:15:04.520
It's part of the Asperger's,
it's hard to do things alone.
00:15:05.240 --> 00:15:07.520
But I'm trying.
00:15:30.120 --> 00:15:33.640
Okay, so this is my boarding school.
00:15:37.600 --> 00:15:42.440
It's a boarding school for kids
with mental problems.
00:15:50.560 --> 00:15:53.160
They're good kids,
we're good kids.
00:15:53.160 --> 00:15:56.200
But neither here or there.
00:15:57.240 --> 00:16:01.040
Not geniuses, but not idiots.
00:16:01.360 --> 00:16:07.240
That's how I define myself too.
Not a genius, but yes a genius.
00:16:07.840 --> 00:16:11.120
No one knows who I am.
00:16:12.560 --> 00:16:17.240
They defined me with all kinds
of stupid diagnoses.
00:16:18.280 --> 00:16:20.720
First it was cerebral epilepsy,
00:16:21.840 --> 00:16:23.400
dyslexia,
00:16:25.320 --> 00:16:29.920
I didn't like my body,
so they diagnosed me as bulimic.
00:16:33.720 --> 00:16:38.600
Then they diagnosed me as psychotic,
because I hurt myself.
00:16:41.560 --> 00:16:45.160
It's hard for me
to read facial expressions.
00:16:46.440 --> 00:16:49.800
In the end, they said
I had Asperger's.
00:16:51.040 --> 00:16:55.640
I don't think I have it,
but that's how I was diagnosed.
00:16:56.840 --> 00:17:00.520
On one hand I feel normal,
but on the other hand, no.
00:17:00.720 --> 00:17:03.240
On the other hand,
I think I'm not normal.
00:17:25.520 --> 00:17:27.560
I wanna get rid of it.
00:17:27.560 --> 00:17:30.440
What did you throw away?
-Pills. I hate this pill.
00:17:30.920 --> 00:17:33.000
Which pill is it?
-Etumin.
00:17:33.640 --> 00:17:34.760
I hate this pill.
00:17:35.320 --> 00:17:40.640
They give these pills to horses, to relax.
There's this story.
00:18:36.600 --> 00:18:44.360
Ok, before I play the song, it's my first time
doing this, so forgive me if I fail.
00:18:45.440 --> 00:18:47.760
Ok, Yaron?
-Yes.
00:18:48.680 --> 00:18:56.200
Yesterday's dreams
Are quivering flames
00:18:56.480 --> 00:19:03.760
All the darkness
can't extinguish them.
00:19:04.080 --> 00:19:12.160
On the discarded bed
the dreams whisper...
00:19:12.160 --> 00:19:16.040
Only dry flowers...
00:19:16.440 --> 00:19:18.520
You're going too fast again.
00:19:19.000 --> 00:19:20.720
I can't play like this,
you going too fast.
00:19:23.800 --> 00:19:25.400
I...
00:19:25.400 --> 00:19:28.040
Let's try again,
we'll all sing along with you.
00:19:28.080 --> 00:19:29.640
Can you sing with me?
00:19:29.640 --> 00:19:31.920
Yes.
-Do me this favor.
00:19:36.280 --> 00:19:43.200
Yesterday's dreams
Are quivering flames
00:19:43.480 --> 00:19:50.760
All the darkness
can't extinguish them.
00:19:51.040 --> 00:19:59.640
On the discarded bed
the dreams whisper,
00:19:59.800 --> 00:20:09.520
only dry flowers fade
between the pages.
00:20:16.640 --> 00:20:22.160
Hi sweetie! How are you?
-No hugs! No hugs.
00:20:22.160 --> 00:20:23.840
A hug?
- Not from you either.
00:20:23.840 --> 00:20:25.760
I'll chase after you
with a hug, watch out.
00:20:28.000 --> 00:20:31.240
Give it to me, so you have
a free hand, carefully.
00:20:31.280 --> 00:20:33.760
Hug your mom before I hug you.
00:20:33.760 --> 00:20:36.440
Whose is it?
-I don't know, not mine.
00:20:36.440 --> 00:20:40.120
I don't hug, Dad. Enough, no hugs.
Now I'm serious.
00:20:40.120 --> 00:20:42.560
High five?
- All right, good.
00:20:43.040 --> 00:20:46.840
I don't want to be touched.
I'm not a touching person.
00:20:49.160 --> 00:20:52.760
What did you make?
-A holiday meal.
00:20:54.320 --> 00:20:57.440
Mom, what's this chicken?
-Marinated chicken.
00:20:57.560 --> 00:21:00.840
Why always chicken?
Why not something else?
00:21:01.200 --> 00:21:02.600
Excuse me?
00:21:03.000 --> 00:21:04.000
There's salmon here.
00:21:04.160 --> 00:21:06.920
I don't like salmon.
-What?!
00:21:07.000 --> 00:21:10.200
You ruined another meal.
-You're welcome.
00:21:16.240 --> 00:21:18.040
Oren...
00:21:18.160 --> 00:21:20.040
Listen up.
-What, Mom?
00:21:20.560 --> 00:21:21.840
Today,
00:21:22.240 --> 00:21:23.720
3,000 years ago...
00:21:23.720 --> 00:21:25.000
I'm not interested.
00:21:25.440 --> 00:21:29.120
The exodus from Egypt again.
-The parting of the Red Sea.
00:21:30.040 --> 00:21:32.800
You think the bible really happened?
00:21:33.040 --> 00:21:34.920
Do I think the bible
really happened?
00:21:36.080 --> 00:21:36.600
Yes?
00:21:37.080 --> 00:21:39.440
Some of it. -You believe it?
-Yes.
00:21:39.800 --> 00:21:42.240
Just as the bible says about itself...
-Bye.
00:21:42.360 --> 00:21:43.360
Wait! Hey!
00:21:43.440 --> 00:21:45.400
Sit with us a minute.
-I don't want to sit with you
00:21:45.520 --> 00:21:46.720
Why not?
-Because.
00:21:47.080 --> 00:21:48.920
I have nothing to say to you.
00:21:49.200 --> 00:21:51.240
You asked Mom a fascinating question.
00:21:51.320 --> 00:21:53.200
But I don't have the strength
to hear it.
00:22:17.320 --> 00:22:20.320
I knew I'd be a mother
from an early age.
00:22:22.840 --> 00:22:28.240
When I tried to get pregnant I couldn't.
I was 40, Ehud was 41.
00:22:29.880 --> 00:22:34.360
We were too old
to adopt in Israel.
00:22:36.480 --> 00:22:38.760
We went to Guatemala.
00:22:39.440 --> 00:22:41.360
Oren was the first.
00:22:42.040 --> 00:22:46.240
We got him when he was
4 1/2 months old.
00:22:46.840 --> 00:22:52.000
And 16 months later
we got Michal.
00:22:54.280 --> 00:22:57.840
There were years of total happiness.
00:22:58.280 --> 00:23:01.040
It was heaven up to age 6.
00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:08.640
I enjoyed every day of motherhood,
but Oren's problems increased.
00:23:10.280 --> 00:23:12.040
He almost never cried.
00:23:12.080 --> 00:23:14.040
The child didn’t cry.
00:23:14.040 --> 00:23:16.040
Oren didn't cry.
00:23:18.360 --> 00:23:23.440
That was the first thing that worried me.
00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:31.760
Someone sent us to have
Oren diagnosed,
00:23:32.240 --> 00:23:36.520
and he determined that the child
was epileptic.
00:23:37.200 --> 00:23:44.040
And I read it, and I said to Ehud,
"Listen, what's written here isn't Oren".
00:23:44.360 --> 00:23:47.040
Let's get a second opinion.
00:23:48.000 --> 00:23:53.160
The second opinion was
with an epilepsy specialist.
00:23:53.160 --> 00:23:59.920
And she said that Oren
could be this, or that, or both.
00:23:59.920 --> 00:24:03.240
"But epilepsy? No way!"
00:24:06.600 --> 00:24:15.240
Oren was 6-7 years old and he was already
on psychiatric medication.
00:24:15.280 --> 00:24:20.240
I always think that we harmed
Oren too.
00:24:20.280 --> 00:24:25.240
Because we didn't know how
to care for him over the years.
00:24:25.240 --> 00:24:27.800
We increased the damage.
00:24:51.480 --> 00:24:52.360
Bye-bye.
00:24:52.680 --> 00:24:53.920
Bye.
-Good night.
00:25:16.480 --> 00:25:19.040
What a day.
-You're telling me?
00:25:19.200 --> 00:25:20.760
Want a cigarette?
-Of course.
00:25:23.000 --> 00:25:25.920
No, hang on.
Like in the movies.
00:25:30.720 --> 00:25:32.040
What about the script?
00:25:32.040 --> 00:25:34.840
You want me to write the script
that goes back in time?
00:25:34.840 --> 00:25:36.800
Yeah, it has to.
00:25:37.640 --> 00:25:40.400
We have to rebuild it,
and this time much better.
00:25:40.400 --> 00:25:41.760
We'll start tomorrow.
00:25:42.000 --> 00:25:43.640
We'll start tomorrow on the bus?
00:25:44.160 --> 00:25:47.440
But did you like the hospital scene?
-Yes.
00:25:48.280 --> 00:25:51.200
I was hospitalized from age 13.
00:25:53.000 --> 00:25:55.560
I was 14... in this ward.
00:25:56.320 --> 00:25:58.120
Did you have ECT?
-What's that?
00:25:58.480 --> 00:26:01.040
Electric shocks.
-No, not that.
00:26:02.520 --> 00:26:03.920
But one time…
00:26:04.800 --> 00:26:08.440
they injected me with a sedative.
-I had them lots of times.
00:26:09.040 --> 00:26:11.600
Everyone has his own problems.
00:26:14.160 --> 00:26:17.040
To be or not to be?
00:26:23.360 --> 00:26:25.560
To drink or not to drink?
00:26:25.880 --> 00:26:28.640
To smoke or not to smoke?
00:26:34.800 --> 00:26:37.600
Ofek!
Let's go to the Sea of Galilee.
00:26:38.880 --> 00:26:41.440
I'm going on a trip with Ofek
to the Sea of Galilee.
00:26:41.800 --> 00:26:44.360
This is the first time.
There's always a first time.
00:26:44.840 --> 00:26:48.360
What am I a little boy
who's not allowed to go on trips.
00:27:07.280 --> 00:27:09.640
Now what?
-Where do we go now?
00:27:09.840 --> 00:27:12.160
We need to go in that direction.
00:27:12.320 --> 00:27:14.840
Let's go,
we have a tight schedule.
00:27:16.320 --> 00:27:17.760
We're not hitchhiking,
come on.
00:27:17.840 --> 00:27:21.400
You want us to walk there
in the dark?
00:27:21.560 --> 00:27:22.920
I'm walking.
00:27:23.320 --> 00:27:24.360
Go, get run over.
00:27:24.720 --> 00:27:26.720
You can hitchhike.
We'll meet at the beach.
00:27:27.080 --> 00:27:28.560
You don't get it, do you?
00:27:29.000 --> 00:27:30.920
Okay, listen,
now I'm serious.
00:27:31.040 --> 00:27:33.760
I'm serious too.
I've done it a lot.
00:27:33.880 --> 00:27:36.240
If we don't get a ride
within 20 minutes, we're walking.
00:27:36.440 --> 00:27:38.720
Jeez, you're so annoying!
-Fine, Ofek.
00:27:38.800 --> 00:27:40.600
Hitching a ride
doesn't take 20 minutes.
00:27:40.680 --> 00:27:44.680
Ofek, we're both off our meds.
We can start fighting now, right?
00:27:44.840 --> 00:27:45.840
So fucking what?
00:27:46.040 --> 00:27:49.360
So let's not annoy each other so much.
00:27:49.480 --> 00:27:51.240
You're my best friend,
I listen to you.
00:27:51.320 --> 00:27:53.000
Hitch a ride and that's it.
00:28:06.440 --> 00:28:07.560
What a genius.
00:28:07.880 --> 00:28:09.640
Don't you get it?!
-Genius.
00:28:10.080 --> 00:28:12.160
I'm not a genius,
I just know stuff
00:28:12.320 --> 00:28:14.920
that you don't. You never
hitchhiked before. -Fine, Ofek.
00:28:22.200 --> 00:28:23.000
Moron.
00:28:24.160 --> 00:28:26.240
If you don't catch a ride
within 10 minutes,
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:28.840
I'm leaving.
-It won't take 10 minutes.
00:28:29.560 --> 00:28:32.240
I'm outta here.
-You wanna walk in the dark?
00:28:32.400 --> 00:28:33.440
Don't drive me crazy.
-Oren!
00:28:45.880 --> 00:28:49.120
I'm not friends with that Ofek anymore.
He annoys me.
00:28:49.240 --> 00:28:51.640
Who does he think he is,
my dad?
00:28:54.760 --> 00:28:58.040
What a shitty kid, I hate him.
00:29:56.120 --> 00:29:58.800
Do you forgive me?
-Whatever you say.
00:29:58.960 --> 00:30:00.880
Yes?
-Yes.
00:30:01.280 --> 00:30:03.520
Cool, gimme a fist .
00:30:03.840 --> 00:30:05.600
No, I never shake hands.
00:30:05.800 --> 00:30:08.560
A fist, not to shake hands.
00:30:10.320 --> 00:30:12.120
That works.
00:30:13.400 --> 00:30:15.400
I'm thinking about it.
-Talk.
00:30:15.440 --> 00:30:19.160
Why wouldn't he start
his journey here?
00:30:19.800 --> 00:30:22.080
Who?
-The main character.
00:30:22.200 --> 00:30:24.000
He fights with his friend.
00:30:28.120 --> 00:30:32.200
Oren, I really think we should
add a girl to the script.
00:30:33.200 --> 00:30:34.000
No?
00:30:34.440 --> 00:30:38.680
Like "Edward's Scissorhands".
-She falls in love with him?
00:30:38.680 --> 00:30:46.120
First she hates him,
but later she falls in love.
00:30:46.120 --> 00:30:48.360
Wow, I built a great script.
00:30:52.240 --> 00:30:57.200
- See what you got out of this fight?
A great synopsis.
00:30:57.200 --> 00:30:59.520
What do you say about that?
-Sounds great!
00:31:01.600 --> 00:31:05.800
Maybe we should fight more often.
00:31:33.440 --> 00:31:35.960
I got on the 11:30 bus.
00:31:36.560 --> 00:31:39.880
I sat down next to a soldier,
and she kept staring at me.
00:31:40.440 --> 00:31:44.480
I looked back at her,
and she kept looking at me.
00:31:45.400 --> 00:31:49.760
Only after she got off the bus,
I realized my zipper was open.
00:31:52.760 --> 00:31:55.600
After that, a strange girl
sat down next to me.
00:31:55.640 --> 00:31:59.880
In the end, I heard
she ran away from somewhere.
00:32:03.600 --> 00:32:06.120
That brought me back to the past.
00:32:08.880 --> 00:32:12.800
At my first boarding school,
some girl fell in love with me.
00:32:13.520 --> 00:32:16.120
I kissed her,
it was my first time.
00:32:16.240 --> 00:32:18.880
I was her boyfriend for
a couple months.
00:32:19.440 --> 00:32:22.600
She always had a boyfriend
while she was my girlfriend.
00:32:22.640 --> 00:32:25.600
But after that we met up
and she apologized.
00:32:26.000 --> 00:32:29.000
She was having a rough period.
00:32:29.960 --> 00:32:33.360
Everyone has problems.
I have problems too.
00:32:43.480 --> 00:32:45.280
Hey.
-How are you sweetie?
00:32:45.280 --> 00:32:48.080
Mom, take it,
Happy birthday.
00:32:48.080 --> 00:32:50.560
Don’t get sentimental.
00:32:50.560 --> 00:32:55.200
Give me a hug, two hugs,
I'll give one to Mom. Give me two.
00:32:55.200 --> 00:32:58.800
Now one for Mom.
Now I'm going to pass it to Mom.
00:32:58.840 --> 00:33:03.160
Dvora, it's from Oren.
00:33:03.160 --> 00:33:05.400
OK.
-OK.
00:33:05.440 --> 00:33:07.600
Oren, next time it's you.
-Fine.
00:33:07.640 --> 00:33:09.600
You're a big boy,
you can do it.
00:33:12.480 --> 00:33:14.960
Mik, did you say hello to Oren?
-Mik...
00:33:20.840 --> 00:33:22.120
Mik.
00:33:28.480 --> 00:33:34.560
There, at the end of the world,
woman, I save all of our love.
00:33:34.640 --> 00:33:40.360
The love between us
I save only for you.
00:33:40.440 --> 00:33:46.800
There, only there,
at the end of the world.
00:33:48.480 --> 00:33:50.080
Listen...
00:33:50.080 --> 00:33:55.120
Do you hear?
-You know I can't really listen.
00:33:55.120 --> 00:33:57.760
Play it, ok.
00:34:01.240 --> 00:34:04.400
There, just there,
across the sea...
00:34:13.400 --> 00:34:15.560
Mom, when are we going?
00:34:21.200 --> 00:34:23.200
You can't enter her room
without permission.
00:34:23.280 --> 00:34:25.560
What do you want?
-When are we going?
00:34:28.400 --> 00:34:30.800
Are you filming me?
-Yes.
00:34:33.160 --> 00:34:35.600
Dad, the movie begins.
00:34:38.080 --> 00:34:41.760
Mom, let's go to the cemetery,
where Grandpa and Grandma are buried.
00:34:41.760 --> 00:34:45.120
I want to shoot you
for my filmmaking class.
00:35:01.800 --> 00:35:03.000
What are you doing?
00:35:03.560 --> 00:35:04.280
Mom!
00:35:04.760 --> 00:35:05.880
I'm walking on the pipe.
00:35:06.120 --> 00:35:07.480
Why are you walking on the pipe?
00:35:07.720 --> 00:35:10.000
That's what I did
in my childhood.
00:35:13.280 --> 00:35:15.360
Mom, I'm scared!
00:35:16.960 --> 00:35:20.200
You'll fall and we'll
take you to the hospital.
00:35:34.040 --> 00:35:36.640
You know what I remember, Mom?
-What?
00:35:36.720 --> 00:35:41.760
Once after Grandma Batia died,
you said "I have no parents."
00:35:41.960 --> 00:35:43.800
And dad hugged you.
00:35:44.400 --> 00:35:45.560
You remember that?
00:35:47.600 --> 00:35:51.480
You two meant so much to her,
so much.
00:35:52.480 --> 00:35:54.800
They probably thought
I'd be the perfect kid, right?
00:35:54.880 --> 00:35:58.000
I think that everyone
has an aspiration
00:35:58.120 --> 00:36:00.160
To have a perfect child,
00:36:00.360 --> 00:36:02.880
knowing that it'll never happen.
00:36:03.240 --> 00:36:04.480
Mom.
-What?
00:36:05.240 --> 00:36:07.800
Where do you think we'll bury
you and Dad?
00:36:34.680 --> 00:36:37.000
This place helps me think.
00:36:39.040 --> 00:36:43.520
It's possible that my biological mother
might not be alive.
00:36:45.720 --> 00:36:48.720
I think I should go now,
before she dies.
00:36:49.160 --> 00:36:53.200
Something in my head tells me that.
Maybe it's fate.
00:36:54.880 --> 00:36:59.160
I want to know about myself.
Who am I? What am I?
00:37:00.280 --> 00:37:02.600
I have to go there.
00:37:10.840 --> 00:37:12.960
Mom.
-What?
00:37:13.000 --> 00:37:16.800
What about the trip to Guatemala?
Have you thought about it?
00:37:17.480 --> 00:37:22.200
I want to go there. It's not a dream...
-Can you explain why you want to go?
00:37:22.200 --> 00:37:24.720
No, I can't,
I just have to.
00:37:25.080 --> 00:37:29.800
Suppose you meet the woman
who gave birth to you, Oren.
00:37:29.840 --> 00:37:32.680
And she wants to hug you.
-No!
00:37:32.680 --> 00:37:34.600
Or kiss you.
-No.
00:37:34.600 --> 00:37:37.120
Or touch you.
-No.
00:37:38.000 --> 00:37:41.520
No one can touch me.
I'm a monk.
00:37:43.200 --> 00:37:46.760
Do I have sisters? Brothers?
-We don't remember.
00:37:46.840 --> 00:37:49.600
Maybe it's written in the documents.
-OK.
00:37:49.720 --> 00:37:52.480
And also, things changed
in the last 19 years.
00:37:52.560 --> 00:37:57.800
We don't know the situation of
the woman who gave birth to you.
00:37:58.200 --> 00:38:01.800
She's in her early forties.
Something like 42, 43.
00:38:01.960 --> 00:38:10.480
How do you know?
-Because her ID is in the adoption file.
00:38:10.480 --> 00:38:13.800
Show me her ID.
-We'll show you, but not today.
00:38:13.840 --> 00:38:16.200
Why not?
-Because it's not here.
00:38:16.240 --> 00:38:18.800
How did you see it if it's not here?
00:38:18.800 --> 00:38:24.560
You have a secret place. You open it, close it,
but you don't want to tell me.
00:38:33.720 --> 00:38:34.800
Hello
00:38:37.280 --> 00:38:38.040
Hello
00:38:40.440 --> 00:38:41.360
Hello
00:38:42.040 --> 00:38:44.200
Hello Mom.
-Hello sweetie.
00:38:44.480 --> 00:38:46.680
Don't call me sweetie.
00:38:52.400 --> 00:38:56.400
I'll never forget his first outburst.
00:38:59.600 --> 00:39:02.320
He was a happy, pleasant child
before that.
00:39:02.480 --> 00:39:07.200
He was smiling, calm, not aggressive.
Then he had an hour when he was full of rage
00:39:13.120 --> 00:39:20.320
It's like he wanted
to hit us, he cursed...
00:39:20.760 --> 00:39:27.000
We were frightened.
In retrospect, rightfully so.
00:39:29.560 --> 00:39:32.520
It was very difficult to see the contrast
00:39:32.520 --> 00:39:38.200
between how much we supported him
and his incredible anger.
00:39:38.240 --> 00:39:43.200
In those moments
he was against everything.
00:39:48.960 --> 00:39:53.320
Your child is suddenly
a different child.
00:40:31.640 --> 00:40:33.400
Is that me?
00:40:34.200 --> 00:40:35.000
Yes?
00:40:35.240 --> 00:40:36.560
-That's you, kiddo.
00:40:36.560 --> 00:40:39.200
My real name is Carlos de la Rosa?
00:40:41.520 --> 00:40:44.360
Here's more ...
Actually it's the same picture.
00:40:44.560 --> 00:40:46.600
Here's a picture of
the biological mother.
00:40:46.600 --> 00:40:49.760
Henriqueta.
This is her picture 19 years ago.
00:40:50.680 --> 00:40:52.880
It scares me,
she looks just like me.
00:40:53.680 --> 00:40:55.360
She looks like you?
-Yes.
00:40:55.840 --> 00:40:58.600
I like my face,
but it's sorta strange on a girl.
00:40:58.680 --> 00:41:01.720
But look, she has a long chin.
You don't.
00:41:01.960 --> 00:41:05.360
Because I'm fat.
See, like this.
00:41:06.960 --> 00:41:07.680
Right?
00:41:09.120 --> 00:41:12.320
You understand that she
can't read or write...
00:41:12.320 --> 00:41:15.880
That's why she signed with a fingerprint.
00:41:15.960 --> 00:41:19.080
Whoa, is she retarded?
-No.
00:41:19.080 --> 00:41:22.000
How many people in Guatemala
can read or write?
00:41:22.080 --> 00:41:23.880
Her living conditions prevented it.
00:41:23.960 --> 00:41:26.120
Do you think she has Asperger's too?
00:41:26.280 --> 00:41:28.320
-Good question. I don't know.
00:41:28.520 --> 00:41:30.000
We'll ask her.
00:41:30.200 --> 00:41:35.000
She told him she was pregnant
two months after she found out.
00:41:35.720 --> 00:41:38.160
And he didn't accept it.
00:41:38.840 --> 00:41:41.200
So, and...?
-And he disappeared.
00:41:42.080 --> 00:41:44.400
That's not my father.
00:41:45.520 --> 00:41:47.200
That's not my father.
00:41:47.600 --> 00:41:51.400
She must've come to the conclusion
that she had to give you up for adoption.
00:41:51.440 --> 00:41:53.320
Anyone would have done it.
00:41:53.320 --> 00:41:57.080
I understand her.
It's okay with me.
00:41:59.680 --> 00:42:02.960
You know one thing,
they aren't my parents.
00:42:03.040 --> 00:42:04.600
You're my parents.
00:42:04.800 --> 00:42:06.680
Sweetie.
00:42:17.680 --> 00:42:20.760
Yes.
-Hi. So...
00:42:20.840 --> 00:42:23.720
Do you have vodka?
00:42:45.000 --> 00:42:47.600
Do you want to hear
the truth about my adoption file?
00:42:47.640 --> 00:42:51.160
My biological mother's name is Henriqita,
something like that.
00:42:51.240 --> 00:42:52.560
Did you see her picture?
-Yes.
00:42:52.560 --> 00:42:53.960
There's a picture of her?
-Yes.
00:42:54.280 --> 00:42:55.760
In the adoption file?
-Yes.
00:42:56.480 --> 00:42:58.480
I'm afraid that...
00:42:58.480 --> 00:43:03.600
Suddenly you'll think
I'm not related to you,
00:43:03.680 --> 00:43:06.560
and you’ll push me further away,
because you have biological siblings.
00:43:06.640 --> 00:43:11.600
It's normal that I'm worried about
you knowing you have other siblings.
00:43:11.680 --> 00:43:15.200
You'll always be my real sister.
00:43:15.440 --> 00:43:21.000
The only thing I know is the woman
who gave birth to me is called Teresa.
00:43:21.440 --> 00:43:23.080
It totally confused me.
00:43:23.080 --> 00:43:25.160
Who knows what'll happen
to me if I find out more?
00:43:28.080 --> 00:43:30.800
"Adoption file: Michal"
00:43:35.960 --> 00:43:38.600
I always said that opening
my file was a big deal.
00:43:38.760 --> 00:43:42.880
But I thought it would be ok.
Nothing would happen.
00:43:43.120 --> 00:43:46.880
There will be a name,
a reason, that's it.
00:43:47.160 --> 00:43:50.960
But no, now that it's here,
00:43:51.320 --> 00:43:53.000
It seems like the...
00:43:53.280 --> 00:43:55.560
scariest thing ever.
00:43:56.440 --> 00:43:58.360
I don't know why
it seems so much more.
00:43:58.480 --> 00:44:00.280
She didn't get the chance
to connect with you
00:44:00.440 --> 00:44:02.680
emotionally, but she's connected.
00:44:02.840 --> 00:44:04.800
I know, I understand,
but that's what bothers me.
00:44:04.960 --> 00:44:07.880
That's exactly what bothers me.
-What bothers you about it?
00:44:08.360 --> 00:44:11.960
That I don't know what I want from her.
00:44:12.600 --> 00:44:14.800
You don't understand what it's like,
00:44:14.880 --> 00:44:17.600
you don't know what I want
more than seeing her.
00:44:17.680 --> 00:44:19.800
Or to be there,
even if she doesn't want to meet.
00:44:20.040 --> 00:44:25.360
I told you, I've always been
preoccupied with how I look
00:44:25.520 --> 00:44:27.600
and how I don't look Israeli.
00:44:27.680 --> 00:44:30.400
And I look like Israeli?
-Yes,
00:44:30.600 --> 00:44:34.320
do people speak to you in English
or think you're from the Philippines
00:44:34.320 --> 00:44:38.200
or China or Japan?
Every time. It's annoying.
00:44:38.640 --> 00:44:44.320
People calling me a shiksa (non-Jewish), Mom,
you don't know how painful it is.
00:44:44.320 --> 00:44:45.760
It's not about how you look.
00:44:45.760 --> 00:44:48.200
It's not about how I look,
because I look so Israeli?!
00:44:48.320 --> 00:44:50.560
I was born on a kibbutz,
my name is Miriam and I'm Israeli!
00:44:50.640 --> 00:44:52.280
I just thought about how you dress.
00:44:52.360 --> 00:44:55.280
That's what you think,
but you're wrong.
00:44:55.400 --> 00:44:57.280
Okay, but it seems natural to me...
00:44:57.400 --> 00:44:59.600
I could be wrong.
00:44:59.600 --> 00:45:01.280
Michal, please don't cry.
00:46:18.400 --> 00:46:21.520
The trip to Guatemala
is getting closer.
00:46:22.480 --> 00:46:25.600
There's a guy named Andreas
that my parents found in Guatemala,
00:46:25.640 --> 00:46:30.600
he'll help me and Michal
find our families.
00:46:35.600 --> 00:46:37.280
Hi, Oren, good morning!
00:46:37.280 --> 00:46:38.200
Good morning!
00:46:38.520 --> 00:46:39.720
I'm a journalist,
00:46:39.960 --> 00:46:45.200
so I actually have worked
on the issue of adoption for many years.
00:46:45.760 --> 00:46:50.160
I did meet your mother,
she's very excited, very happy to see you.
00:46:50.480 --> 00:46:52.000
She want to see me?
00:46:52.960 --> 00:46:54.200
She want to see me?
00:46:54.520 --> 00:46:55.160
She wants to see you very much.
00:46:55.160 --> 00:46:55.960
She wants to see you very much.
00:46:56.120 --> 00:46:57.800
She's very excited
about that idea.
00:46:59.440 --> 00:47:02.280
She got really emotional too,
00:47:02.400 --> 00:47:04.520
she started to cry a little bit and yes,
00:47:04.560 --> 00:47:07.120
she would really,
really like to get to know you.
00:47:07.240 --> 00:47:11.960
She was very emotional
about the news I gave her
00:47:12.080 --> 00:47:14.880
that you are okay,
that you have a nice family,
00:47:15.000 --> 00:47:17.400
that you live in Israel,
all that was new to her,
00:47:17.440 --> 00:47:19.400
she didn't know anything about you.
00:47:20.360 --> 00:47:26.320
How many brothers and sisters
and father and mother I have? I don't know.
00:47:27.160 --> 00:47:28.760
You just have one mother,
00:47:29.640 --> 00:47:33.400
you have also just one father,
let me see...
00:47:34.680 --> 00:47:38.000
Your father and Henriqueta,
they have four children.,
00:47:38.400 --> 00:47:41.520
Your older brother looks
very much like you.
00:47:41.640 --> 00:47:43.880
Yes?
-Very similar to you, yes.
00:47:44.120 --> 00:47:46.120
He has Facebook?
00:47:47.560 --> 00:47:53.080
I doubt it, no. I would think none of them
ever uses the computer.
00:47:53.160 --> 00:47:56.000
Very poor lifestyle.
00:47:56.880 --> 00:48:02.000
One question, you have
a photo of my mother?
00:48:02.360 --> 00:48:04.680
Yes, I did several photos.
00:48:04.760 --> 00:48:06.200
You can send me?
00:48:06.400 --> 00:48:09.320
Yes, I will send it to you.
You'll see all of them soon.
00:48:10.000 --> 00:48:11.520
OK.
00:48:11.520 --> 00:48:17.600
I'm really excited... I very...
to see the photos.
00:49:34.520 --> 00:49:37.760
Welcome. You made it.
I'm happy.
00:49:38.440 --> 00:49:40.600
Oren, great.
00:49:40.840 --> 00:49:43.480
We saw each other
on the internet
00:49:44.120 --> 00:49:46.600
so we know
each other somewhat.
00:49:47.120 --> 00:49:50.760
Now the people of the taxi are waiting
and we have to get in there
00:49:51.360 --> 00:49:53.800
and then we go off to my house.
00:49:54.000 --> 00:49:56.120
Oren will be with me,
in my car.
00:49:56.240 --> 00:49:57.520
Okay, great.
00:49:57.800 --> 00:50:00.400
Let's go Levy.
00:50:02.960 --> 00:50:05.400
Wow, this is Guatemala.
00:50:05.560 --> 00:50:08.360
Well, you have been here before,
it's not the first time.
00:50:08.520 --> 00:50:11.520
Yes, but I don't remember anything.
00:50:12.560 --> 00:50:14.160
You're filming me.
-Yes.
00:50:14.800 --> 00:50:15.800
I'm doing movie
00:50:15.960 --> 00:50:21.320
for all my friends at
the therapeutic boarding school.
00:50:21.680 --> 00:50:23.680
I'm from the cool guys.
00:50:23.800 --> 00:50:25.880
You are the cool guy in
the boarding school?
00:50:25.960 --> 00:50:29.520
I'm doing very trouble
and my teacher...
00:50:29.680 --> 00:50:31.680
You get into trouble a lot?
-Yes.
00:50:32.120 --> 00:50:34.080
Why is that?
You shouldn't.
00:50:36.520 --> 00:50:38.360
I'm doing trouble, but...
00:50:38.360 --> 00:50:44.320
I thought it would be a good idea that my son
gets to know you to learn a little more English,
00:50:44.320 --> 00:50:51.680
but now that you say you are a troublemaker,
I'm not sure I want my son to get to know you.
00:51:11.840 --> 00:51:13.320
My Mom.
00:51:15.880 --> 00:51:17.880
This is her home.
00:51:20.440 --> 00:51:23.080
My mother sells tortillas.
00:51:24.280 --> 00:51:26.520
I love tortillas.
00:51:33.520 --> 00:51:36.720
I thought my mother
probably wasn't alive.
00:51:37.720 --> 00:51:39.800
But here, a surprise.
00:51:56.680 --> 00:51:59.600
This is the production team.
Sergio.
00:52:03.680 --> 00:52:07.280
It's beautiful, isn't it?
I love it.
00:52:15.440 --> 00:52:17.600
What should I tell Henriqueta?
00:52:18.040 --> 00:52:19.720
You should tell her
00:52:20.160 --> 00:52:22.000
that...
00:52:22.240 --> 00:52:25.200
That you don't know how to feel.
00:52:25.960 --> 00:52:29.120
We all have feelings, but we don't
always know what to do with them.
00:52:29.280 --> 00:52:29.960
Okay.
00:52:30.080 --> 00:52:32.200
Do you understand the difference?
-I sure do.
00:52:32.320 --> 00:52:33.160
Great.
00:52:33.480 --> 00:52:37.600
That's the first thing you can tell her
because you don't know what to feel.
00:52:37.960 --> 00:52:39.600
Now,
00:52:40.800 --> 00:52:42.600
you should definitely tell her
00:52:42.800 --> 00:52:46.000
that if she has something
she wants to tell you
00:52:46.120 --> 00:52:48.680
or ask you,
she should do it.
00:52:49.080 --> 00:52:50.960
It also helps, right?
-Yes.
00:52:51.320 --> 00:52:55.480
Then you can have a conversation
about the issues she brings up.
00:52:55.680 --> 00:52:57.080
Right?
-Yeah.
00:52:59.160 --> 00:53:02.480
But there's one very important thing
you need to think about, my son.
00:53:02.600 --> 00:53:04.880
To put on deodorant?
00:53:07.600 --> 00:53:09.400
I didn't think of that.
00:53:11.080 --> 00:53:13.800
I'm sure, Oren...
I'm 1000% sure
00:53:14.200 --> 00:53:16.880
that she'll want to touch you.
00:53:18.080 --> 00:53:20.360
It's not only natural for everyone,
00:53:21.400 --> 00:53:25.400
it's even more natural for someone
who carried you in her stomach.
00:53:25.480 --> 00:53:26.280
Okay.
00:53:26.400 --> 00:53:28.960
You were born from within her,
you were inside her.
00:53:30.480 --> 00:53:31.320
All right.
00:53:31.400 --> 00:53:33.840
Let her do that, Oren.
-I'll let her.
00:53:38.320 --> 00:53:41.880
When you're alone with Henriqueta,
00:53:42.600 --> 00:53:45.880
It's very important
to talk to her about...
00:53:47.720 --> 00:53:50.960
about the Asperger's.
-No, I don't want to.
00:53:53.480 --> 00:53:54.880
Okay, all right.
00:53:55.720 --> 00:54:01.360
It annoys me that you say
"Tell Henriquita about the Asperger's."
00:54:01.480 --> 00:54:05.520
It doesn't interest me and I don't
want to talk about it.
00:54:05.800 --> 00:54:08.160
You're trying to repress it,
00:54:08.240 --> 00:54:11.000
not to embrace what
you're about to encounter.
00:54:11.120 --> 00:54:13.360
I'm not talking to her
about the Asperger's, okay?
00:54:14.040 --> 00:54:16.880
Yes. All right.
00:54:18.840 --> 00:54:21.160
Oren, I'm trying to reach you, really.
00:54:21.240 --> 00:54:25.800
Don't reach me that way
because you won't get anywhere.
00:54:33.640 --> 00:54:34.800
There we go.
00:54:43.360 --> 00:54:46.800
What else will happen on this
lousy trip?
00:54:59.200 --> 00:55:04.600
I know I'm impatient but it's on purpose.
It's how I test them.
00:55:10.080 --> 00:55:15.800
I wanna see how much they love me.
But I'm not sure about that.
00:55:17.600 --> 00:55:21.520
I used to think I was a narcissist
but I'm not.
00:55:22.600 --> 00:55:25.880
In my opinion if someone
was defining me,
00:55:25.880 --> 00:55:29.800
they'd define me as a
happy and complicated person.
00:55:30.240 --> 00:55:32.800
Happy because I always
laugh with people,
00:55:32.840 --> 00:55:36.600
Complicated, because sometimes
I don't find myself.
00:55:49.240 --> 00:55:51.120
Mom, ignore me.
00:55:52.240 --> 00:55:54.800
Why are you crying?
-Don't film me.
00:55:55.200 --> 00:55:56.320
Mom, why are you crying?
00:55:56.400 --> 00:55:58.400
Oren, she doesn't want you
to film her crying.
00:55:59.240 --> 00:56:00.600
Okay.
00:56:00.960 --> 00:56:03.120
I want to film you
because you're important.
00:56:03.360 --> 00:56:05.120
Mom, why are you crying?
00:56:06.040 --> 00:56:06.960
Mom...
00:56:06.960 --> 00:56:10.600
Wait, I need to think
what to answer you.
00:56:11.960 --> 00:56:15.480
Next time try not to take
everything so seriously, like me.
00:56:16.680 --> 00:56:18.960
It'll be okay in the end.
00:56:24.240 --> 00:56:26.600
Do it, once.
-I don't know how to hug.
00:56:26.640 --> 00:56:31.160
Oren, please do it, once.
-Mom enough, don't be dramatic.
00:56:31.160 --> 00:56:34.600
OK, enough. -You OK?
-Yes.
00:56:34.600 --> 00:56:41.000
Now slap my face.
-No, I want to give you a kiss, not a slap.
00:56:41.040 --> 00:56:44.320
Mom, do not be dramatic.
I hate when you're dramatic.
00:56:56.920 --> 00:57:03.800
From the beginning, he was a child
with different ways of communicating.
00:57:07.000 --> 00:57:09.400
Oren is a master at hiding things.
00:57:09.520 --> 00:57:11.120
That's his greatest expertise.
00:57:15.200 --> 00:57:19.360
Among other things,
he hides his love for me.
00:57:20.160 --> 00:57:22.520
When he was a child, I was his world.
00:57:22.840 --> 00:57:28.680
At some point he started pushing
the world and me away.
00:57:29.720 --> 00:57:34.800
He wouldn't let me be close to him.
00:57:36.880 --> 00:57:39.960
I couldn't hug him, kiss him, touch him.
00:57:40.760 --> 00:57:43.280
It's hard to be with Oren.
00:57:43.600 --> 00:57:48.160
I only exist for his needs and wishes.
00:57:48.160 --> 00:57:52.560
I exist, but he doesn't see me.
There’s no reciprocity.
00:57:53.760 --> 00:57:56.160
I want Oren's love.
00:57:56.640 --> 00:58:00.400
I want him to see me.
He never saw me.
00:59:43.280 --> 00:59:44.960
Oren.
-What?
00:59:45.120 --> 00:59:49.000
I'm reliving the moment
when they opened the door,
00:59:49.400 --> 00:59:54.480
and out came a fluffy,
blue and white blanket
00:59:55.080 --> 00:59:58.200
with a woman behind it
00:59:58.480 --> 01:00:01.080
and she opens it and Oren is in it.
01:00:01.080 --> 01:00:04.000
It's a moment I'll never forget.
-Yes.
01:00:04.040 --> 01:00:07.800
You looking at us, looking at your hands,
your big watchful eyes,
01:00:08.200 --> 01:00:12.000
with the sweetest face in the world.
01:00:12.400 --> 01:00:17.160
That moment...
-I understand.
01:00:17.160 --> 01:00:22.400
In that moment Ehud and Dad Ehud
are two people... -Right.
01:00:22.720 --> 01:00:27.560
Ehud is a small part of Ehud the Dad.
An unforgettable moment.
01:00:27.720 --> 01:00:29.600
Is it hard for you
to come here too?
01:00:29.720 --> 01:00:31.400
Why?
-I don't know.
01:00:31.400 --> 01:00:34.400
It's difficult,
but it's also moving
01:00:34.440 --> 01:00:38.160
Moving.
-Difficult and moving.
01:00:38.800 --> 01:00:41.360
But not only because it's difficult.
01:00:41.360 --> 01:00:42.720
Sweetie.
01:00:43.520 --> 01:00:45.880
OK, that's it.
01:00:48.280 --> 01:00:50.520
Mom cried too, you know?
01:00:50.520 --> 01:00:53.200
Good.
Do you expect us to be indifferent?
01:01:06.120 --> 01:01:07.000
Hello.
01:01:07.600 --> 01:01:08.360
Hello.
01:01:10.960 --> 01:01:13.480
I am... I am...
01:01:17.440 --> 01:01:19.000
I am, I am...
01:01:19.280 --> 01:01:21.880
I am too Guatemali.
-You are from Guatemala?
01:01:21.880 --> 01:01:24.760
I am, I am...
01:01:25.880 --> 01:01:27.320
I am from here,
01:01:27.320 --> 01:01:28.960
but I don't speak Spanish.
01:02:01.080 --> 01:02:04.960
Everyone says it's my
coming of age journey.
01:02:07.200 --> 01:02:11.400
In every movie I've seen
like this on TV, adoption journeys,
01:02:11.400 --> 01:02:14.880
the protagonist makes the journey alone.
Not with his family.
01:02:15.000 --> 01:02:18.600
I want to try it too.
I'm already a big boy.
01:02:21.520 --> 01:02:27.280
Dad, is it ok with you if I go alone to
meet my biological mother?
01:02:27.400 --> 01:02:30.680
You've got the right to.
01:02:31.280 --> 01:02:32.520
Sure.
-Yes?
01:02:32.640 --> 01:02:33.880
It'll be good for you.
01:02:33.960 --> 01:02:35.800
In the meantime,
go alone with Michal.
01:02:35.800 --> 01:02:38.880
And you'll come tomorrow.
-We'll join you later.
01:02:39.840 --> 01:02:44.480
I think it's a great idea
for you and her to be alone.
01:02:44.480 --> 01:02:46.520
Great.
01:02:47.600 --> 01:02:48.600
Bye Mom.
01:02:50.480 --> 01:02:51.000
Bye.
01:02:51.240 --> 01:02:52.960
Sweetie...
- You look smart.
01:02:54.080 --> 01:02:55.880
Only good things are
going to happen to you.
01:02:55.880 --> 01:02:57.720
You don't look smart.
01:02:58.200 --> 01:03:00.880
Now comes the big hug and...
01:03:01.200 --> 01:03:02.600
perfect.
01:03:02.960 --> 01:03:04.520
Close...
01:03:04.800 --> 01:03:08.720
Good, bye bye, see you tomorrow.
-Kiss. Bye.
01:03:09.960 --> 01:03:11.200
Enough.
01:03:11.960 --> 01:03:14.000
Enough, a hug and that's it.
01:03:15.120 --> 01:03:19.400
Wish me luck, good luck to you too.
-Bye.
01:03:36.840 --> 01:03:42.960
I don't know whether to call her "Mom",
"Hola, Mama Teresa", "Hola".
01:03:43.520 --> 01:03:45.320
Whatever comes out.
01:03:45.320 --> 01:03:46.720
I don't know what I want.
01:04:37.840 --> 01:04:39.400
My daughter.
01:05:03.480 --> 01:05:06.800
Hello.
-Hello, welcome.
01:05:08.760 --> 01:05:11.080
Welcome.
-Hello.
01:05:23.200 --> 01:05:24.960
Nice to meet you.
01:05:30.520 --> 01:05:34.000
Forgive me, my love,
I'm excited.
01:05:34.000 --> 01:05:35.520
It's OK.
01:05:37.720 --> 01:05:40.520
I'm very happy.
01:05:40.600 --> 01:05:42.960
Thank you, darling.
01:05:44.880 --> 01:05:49.880
It's very moving for us.
01:05:50.680 --> 01:05:55.880
Sorry for the state I'm in here.
-It's all fine.
01:05:56.040 --> 01:06:01.720
God knows that I love all my family.
01:06:03.000 --> 01:06:08.520
I'm also a responsible person,
a working man.
01:06:08.800 --> 01:06:11.000
I'm a working man, yes.
01:06:28.280 --> 01:06:29.400
We're almost there.
01:06:29.680 --> 01:06:31.520
Just another two kilometers.
01:06:31.720 --> 01:06:33.000
Yes?
-Yes.
01:06:33.520 --> 01:06:34.480
Okay.
01:06:34.560 --> 01:06:36.160
Are you ready?
-Yes, yes.
01:06:38.440 --> 01:06:40.320
I'm thinking about
what I should say to her.
01:06:40.720 --> 01:06:42.760
I don't know,
I can't think of anything.
01:06:43.480 --> 01:06:47.320
And it's strange to think
I was supposed to grow up here.
01:06:48.240 --> 01:06:49.880
That could've been my house.
01:06:52.080 --> 01:06:55.080
At 15 I would’ve been married
to a Guatemalan woman
01:06:55.080 --> 01:06:57.320
and by now I would've
already been a father
01:06:59.320 --> 01:07:02.080
Imagine if she were my wife.
01:07:02.600 --> 01:07:05.160
I'd live with her,
her name would be Carlolita
01:07:05.240 --> 01:07:07.800
and we'd have a dog
named Jorgarana.
01:07:09.240 --> 01:07:11.560
We'd have a kid named Brian
01:07:12.240 --> 01:07:15.040
and we'd live in a place like this,
here.
01:07:16.400 --> 01:07:19.200
Maybe it would've been better,
maybe I would've done well here.
01:07:19.480 --> 01:07:23.000
But my Asperger's would've gotten
in the way without me knowing what it was.
01:07:23.640 --> 01:07:25.400
You think you'd have
Asperger's here too?
01:07:25.720 --> 01:07:26.800
I don't know.
01:07:28.040 --> 01:07:30.760
Your Asperger's is congenital
or socially generated?
01:07:30.960 --> 01:07:32.480
Socially generated, I think.
01:07:32.560 --> 01:07:34.800
I was rejected as a child.
01:07:35.080 --> 01:07:38.760
Kids hated me because of
the color of my skin.
01:07:39.120 --> 01:07:40.360
That's it.
01:07:53.400 --> 01:07:57.400
You know Henriqueta?
Barerra de la Rosa?
01:07:57.960 --> 01:07:58.520
No?
01:07:59.400 --> 01:08:03.880
You know Henriqueta?
Barerra de la Rosa?
01:08:04.480 --> 01:08:05.800
Yes?
01:08:06.440 --> 01:08:07.800
Henriqueta.
01:08:13.800 --> 01:08:14.880
Hello.
01:08:24.160 --> 01:08:25.280
No?
01:08:34.160 --> 01:08:35.200
Thank you.
01:08:36.040 --> 01:08:38.360
Mommy, my mommy.
01:08:40.960 --> 01:08:41.760
Thank you.
01:08:59.040 --> 01:08:59.880
Hello.
01:09:06.000 --> 01:09:06.880
Hello.
01:09:25.600 --> 01:09:29.320
He can only speak English.
01:09:30.760 --> 01:09:33.880
I am your mother.
-Yes, Henriqueta.
01:09:34.040 --> 01:09:35.520
Henriqueta.
01:09:37.040 --> 01:09:40.880
I gave you up for adoption
because I'm poor.
01:09:41.040 --> 01:09:44.200
I have nothing to feed my children.
01:09:44.800 --> 01:09:48.080
Thank God you went to good hands.
01:09:49.920 --> 01:09:51.760
I love you with all my heart.
01:09:52.560 --> 01:09:53.600
Okay.
01:09:54.320 --> 01:09:56.000
Mario.
- Mario.
01:09:56.000 --> 01:09:57.920
Jorge.
- Jorge.
01:09:57.920 --> 01:09:59.560
Paola.
- Paola.
01:09:59.560 --> 01:10:02.560
Berne, and Vanessa.
- Vanessa.
01:10:02.560 --> 01:10:04.280
Yes.
- Yes.
01:10:27.080 --> 01:10:29.520
Jerusalem, Israel.
01:10:40.440 --> 01:10:43.120
Mario, help to pass it on please.
01:10:48.480 --> 01:10:50.520
It brings luck
01:10:54.160 --> 01:10:57.120
How do you say "Where's my dad?"
01:10:58.680 --> 01:11:02.960
Where is my father?
01:11:03.320 --> 01:11:04.960
Where does he live?
01:11:05.800 --> 01:11:09.400
That way, on Cogarte beach.
01:11:09.800 --> 01:11:15.800
I don't know that place.
When he left me with the children.
01:11:15.800 --> 01:11:18.560
He didn't help at all.
01:11:18.760 --> 01:11:22.880
We survived because I sell tortillas.
01:11:23.240 --> 01:11:29.640
Truth is, his father
threw me out on the street.
01:11:29.960 --> 01:11:32.560
At ten o'clock at night.
He had eye problems
01:11:32.600 --> 01:11:37.560
I said the baby had eye problems. He told me
to leave and that the baby wasn't his.
01:11:37.640 --> 01:11:39.080
He is his father.
01:11:41.080 --> 01:11:45.600
Is it possible to take him
to visit his father tomorrow?
01:11:46.160 --> 01:11:52.120
My dad said that if ever Carlos will come,
he wants to meet him.
01:11:52.160 --> 01:11:55.440
Your father said
he'd like to meet you.
01:11:56.120 --> 01:11:57.440
OK.
01:11:58.320 --> 01:11:59.360
Fine.
01:12:17.600 --> 01:12:21.120
Jorge.
- Jorge.
01:12:25.640 --> 01:12:26.880
Jorge.
01:12:28.480 --> 01:12:31.320
Jorge.
Jorge?
01:12:34.280 --> 01:12:35.560
Jorge.
01:13:13.320 --> 01:13:19.560
Son, it's sink to wash clothes,
to bathe.
01:13:19.840 --> 01:13:22.760
This is where I cook.
This is my kitchen.
01:13:24.880 --> 01:13:30.120
This is the kitchen, in order to eat.
Yes, yes, yes.
01:13:31.960 --> 01:13:36.760
It's a shower for the family members.
01:13:36.760 --> 01:13:38.200
Ah, OK.
01:13:40.160 --> 01:13:46.600
It's a toilet.
- Toilet?
01:13:50.520 --> 01:13:54.800
This is where Vanessa
and Paola sleep,
01:13:54.800 --> 01:13:56.400
Vanessa, Paola?
- Yes.
01:13:56.600 --> 01:13:58.960
And Varna and Noel here.
01:13:58.960 --> 01:14:01.200
Jorge sleeps here.
01:14:02.120 --> 01:14:04.480
OK.
OK.
01:14:04.720 --> 01:14:05.480
Jorge.
01:14:05.600 --> 01:14:06.480
OK.
01:14:07.520 --> 01:14:11.400
The singer:
Sasi Keshet, Israel.
01:14:15.040 --> 01:14:21.240
There, at the end of the world,
woman, I keep all of our love,
01:14:21.360 --> 01:14:27.040
The love between us
I keep only for you
01:14:27.400 --> 01:14:32.360
There, at the end of the world.
01:14:34.120 --> 01:14:40.440
Because the love between us
tears my heart apart
01:14:40.760 --> 01:14:47.080
Because the love between us is wild
and more painful than anything
01:14:47.080 --> 01:14:48.600
Bye.
01:14:54.040 --> 01:15:01.280
There, at the end of the world,
01:15:01.360 --> 01:15:06.440
woman, I keep all of our love.
01:15:06.520 --> 01:15:11.120
The love between us
01:15:11.240 --> 01:15:16.600
I keep only for you
01:15:16.680 --> 01:15:25.320
There, at the end of the world.
01:15:28.880 --> 01:15:33.760
Because the love between us
01:15:33.840 --> 01:15:38.400
tears my heart apart
01:15:38.880 --> 01:15:44.080
Because the love between us
01:15:44.360 --> 01:15:49.080
is wild and more painful
than anything
01:15:49.200 --> 01:15:50.840
There, there...
01:15:51.040 --> 01:15:56.120
There, across the sea,
01:15:56.280 --> 01:16:01.080
I dream, woman, of all our love,
01:16:01.320 --> 01:16:05.880
A love that will live with us,
in our house,
01:16:06.200 --> 01:16:12.240
I dream more and more.
01:16:13.480 --> 01:16:19.520
There, just there.
Across the sea.
01:16:55.440 --> 01:16:58.120
He's changing his clothes
and coming out.
01:16:59.240 --> 01:17:00.640
He'll be right here.
01:17:21.800 --> 01:17:25.400
Carlos, hello.
-Mario.
01:17:34.680 --> 01:17:37.800
I'm very happy to meet you,
to know you.
01:17:37.800 --> 01:17:42.280
I don't know if you consider
me your father,
01:17:42.760 --> 01:17:45.120
But I'm very happy that you came.
01:17:45.480 --> 01:17:48.280
I want to hug you again, my son.
01:17:50.600 --> 01:17:52.880
I don't know what to say.
01:17:56.360 --> 01:17:59.520
Tell him I'm accepting him
as my father, yes.
01:18:00.200 --> 01:18:01.920
Translate for him please.
01:18:02.760 --> 01:18:06.640
He says he can't deny it,
it's from his heart.
01:18:06.640 --> 01:18:11.920
He accepts you as his father.
01:18:15.560 --> 01:18:17.400
Yes, yes.
01:18:24.880 --> 01:18:28.880
I had problems with his mother.
01:18:28.880 --> 01:18:32.800
One day I saw her
come without the baby.
01:18:33.920 --> 01:18:42.120
I asked her what she did,
she said she gave him to someone.
01:18:42.920 --> 01:18:47.320
When you have a new woman,
the previous one tries to annoy you.
01:18:47.360 --> 01:18:51.520
And it puts all kinds of
bad thoughts in your mind.
01:18:51.520 --> 01:18:54.280
So, I let it go.
01:19:09.920 --> 01:19:14.680
The baby was sick,
and he said it wasn't his son.
01:19:15.760 --> 01:19:25.120
Sometimes, because of other women
you don't know what you're doing.
01:19:25.160 --> 01:19:28.720
Your thoughts get mixed up.
01:19:29.280 --> 01:19:32.200
He's not connected to me anymore.
01:19:32.600 --> 01:19:34.480
He has another woman,
01:19:34.480 --> 01:19:37.600
and he abandoned his children
because of her.
01:19:39.920 --> 01:19:43.400
Ask him, how many
kids he has.
01:19:44.040 --> 01:19:46.600
In total, how many children do you have?
01:19:46.920 --> 01:19:52.000
In total, I have…
01:19:52.800 --> 01:19:54.520
Four, five, six...
01:19:55.120 --> 01:19:57.920
Ten children...
01:19:59.600 --> 01:20:02.720
Ask him if I can
shoot him to my movie.
01:20:03.240 --> 01:20:07.080
I want to show this moment
to my friends.
01:21:20.680 --> 01:21:22.120
Thanks.
01:21:22.120 --> 01:21:24.080
Yes my son, it's OK.
01:21:29.640 --> 01:21:32.400
Cool Daddy, cool Dad.
01:21:33.160 --> 01:21:34.640
Cool Dad.
01:22:10.240 --> 01:22:11.320
Jorge.
01:22:36.480 --> 01:22:38.880
Father.
-Hello.
01:22:40.760 --> 01:22:42.720
What's up?
-OK.
01:22:43.240 --> 01:22:46.200
How are you?
01:22:46.200 --> 01:22:48.520
Okay, are you sitting here?
-Oren.
01:22:48.520 --> 01:22:51.840
I don't want to hug you.
01:22:51.840 --> 01:22:53.800
I want to sit near you.
01:22:56.520 --> 01:22:58.880
What happened
when you met them?
01:22:58.920 --> 01:23:01.520
They were all sitting in a row
at the house,
01:23:01.600 --> 01:23:05.880
they stood up, she ran towards me
and hugged me and said,
01:23:05.920 --> 01:23:08.920
"I was poor,
that's why I couldn't raise you."
01:23:09.200 --> 01:23:12.040
She said that my father also thought
they were too poor,
01:23:12.080 --> 01:23:15.480
and the best thing was to
give me up for adoption.
01:23:15.600 --> 01:23:17.720
And you know what happens after that,
they regret it.
01:23:17.800 --> 01:23:19.600
Who's their father?
-My father.
01:23:19.600 --> 01:23:21.680
Who is he?
-He lives nearby.
01:23:21.680 --> 01:23:25.280
Really? -Yes, you know what happens,
they regret it.
01:23:25.280 --> 01:23:28.600
They regretted it big time,
but it was too late.
01:23:28.680 --> 01:23:31.080
Do you want to see him?
-I already saw him.
01:23:31.200 --> 01:23:33.080
What?
-He's a cowboy, you know,
01:23:33.160 --> 01:23:37.280
he wears this gold belt,
not real gold,
01:23:37.480 --> 01:23:39.840
his shirt open down to here, jeans.
01:23:39.960 --> 01:23:42.320
Cool jeans and boots.
01:23:42.640 --> 01:23:45.960
He asked me "are you willing to forgive me
and see me as a father?”
01:23:46.120 --> 01:23:48.080
That's what he said to you?
-Yes.
01:23:49.120 --> 01:23:51.720
I was indifferent towards him,
but that'll change now.
01:23:52.480 --> 01:23:55.280
Did you answer him?
-Yes.
01:23:55.760 --> 01:23:57.640
I told him that
I still see him as a father,
01:23:58.160 --> 01:24:00.840
I don't know if it was right
to say that.
01:24:22.160 --> 01:24:24.120
Hello.
-Hello.
01:24:24.680 --> 01:24:26.320
Hello How are you?
- Hello.
01:24:29.640 --> 01:24:31.840
Henriqueta,
Mama Dvora.
01:24:32.040 --> 01:24:33.040
Hello.
01:24:42.840 --> 01:24:45.040
The moment we knew
he's going to be...
01:24:45.520 --> 01:24:47.240
with us, our son,
01:24:48.920 --> 01:24:50.640
our world changed.
01:24:52.480 --> 01:24:52.720
We wanted very much children
01:24:52.760 --> 01:24:55.720
We wanted very much children
01:24:56.400 --> 01:24:58.480
and we couldn't.
01:24:58.960 --> 01:24:59.680
So...
01:25:00.400 --> 01:25:03.680
the great gift
that we got from you
01:25:04.320 --> 01:25:05.680
that you wanted to...
01:25:07.120 --> 01:25:08.920
to give him this chance
01:25:10.360 --> 01:25:15.240
and in the situation that
you were in at that time,
01:25:15.640 --> 01:25:16.600
it was...
01:25:17.640 --> 01:25:20.080
totally difficult for you and...
01:25:20.080 --> 01:25:26.000
we are happy that... so happy...
our life... clearly changed.
01:25:26.080 --> 01:25:31.600
I had nowhere to go
and I got confused.
01:25:31.840 --> 01:25:34.920
I gave up my son.
Then I regretted it and wanted him back
01:25:35.080 --> 01:25:37.520
but I couldn't
because I already signed.
01:25:37.680 --> 01:25:39.840
Yes, I already signed.
01:26:48.920 --> 01:26:54.320
I had another boy, who was killed
by a car, he was 11.
01:26:54.680 --> 01:26:58.720
I wish he could've met
his brother Carlos
01:26:58.960 --> 01:27:01.480
but he didn't live
to see this moment.
01:27:02.280 --> 01:27:09.240
And that is my suffering.
I do not mind living in such poverty.
01:27:09.560 --> 01:27:13.120
But I would like my child
to be here with me.
01:27:26.920 --> 01:27:30.640
Do you want us to go to the cemetery?
01:27:30.640 --> 01:27:30.720
Do you want us to go to the cemetery?
01:27:44.240 --> 01:27:46.800
It's a weird feeling
01:27:49.600 --> 01:27:52.320
Because I can't cry now.
01:27:55.840 --> 01:27:58.600
I'm emotionally shut down, I know.
01:28:03.840 --> 01:28:10.520
Even at the memorial for my friend Zahi,
who was killed in a car accident,
01:28:11.960 --> 01:28:15.280
everyone cried except me.
01:29:04.120 --> 01:29:05.800
My condolences.
01:29:15.960 --> 01:29:18.280
I don't understand.
01:29:20.720 --> 01:29:26.320
I thought I'd never see Carlos again
and here he is alive
01:29:26.400 --> 01:29:28.720
and my other son is dead.
01:30:24.920 --> 01:30:31.200
I've directed movies since I was 13,
it's my escape.
01:30:31.520 --> 01:30:36.080
I escape to the imagination,
I create things.
01:30:38.240 --> 01:30:41.520
I discovered that I can be normal,
without any problems.
01:30:43.520 --> 01:30:46.080
I feel like I don't have Asperger's.
01:30:49.680 --> 01:30:54.800
I'm a normal person, I'm not all
the labels you've put on me.
01:30:56.520 --> 01:30:59.280
I am not.
01:31:03.480 --> 01:31:08.400
I'm happy with myself. The question is
are they happy with me too?
01:32:40.680 --> 01:32:42.080
Synopsis.
01:32:43.480 --> 01:32:46.720
Oren, a 19-year-old guy,
studying at a boarding school.
01:32:48.320 --> 01:32:53.000
Oren had a girlfriend years ago,
one day she disappeared.
01:32:53.840 --> 01:32:58.040
The last thing he remembers is her hair.
She had curly hair.
01:32:58.720 --> 01:33:04.920
One day he comes across a girl,
he's sure he's met her before.
01:33:05.120 --> 01:33:12.520
But he doesn't know she's just an illusion.
She isn't real.
01:33:13.760 --> 01:33:20.920
One wintry day, he discovers he's dreamt it all.
He's 49. A widower.
01:33:21.360 --> 01:33:26.240
He overcomes his problems,
and that's how the movie ends.
