Michael Thomasson has devoted his life to video games. It’s been his passion and his obsession for more than three decades. He owns over 11,000 unique game titles for more than 100 different systems. His collection is so large, in fact, that it's currently recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. But now, with his mother sick and facing an enormous mortgage, Michael must put his collection up for sale and hope someone will pay enough to cover his costs.

 00:00:04.250 --> 00:00:06.542
 My father had his passion
 which was fishing.

 00:00:07.834 --> 00:00:10.583
 He recognized my passion pretty early.

 00:00:10.584 --> 00:00:14.541
 I don\'t know if he ever understood
 it but he always respected it.

 00:00:14.542 --> 00:00:18.292
 He was a tough man, but he had compassion.

 00:00:20.542 --> 00:00:21.875
 He thought of three kids if

 00:00:21.876 --> 00:00:25.458
 anybody was ever going to really
 strike it rich, or make it big,

 00:00:25.459 --> 00:00:27.829
 it was gonna be me.

 00:00:27.830 --> 00:00:29.542
 I want to make my pop proud.

 00:00:33.917 --> 00:00:36.166
 According to Guinness
 Book of World Records,

 00:00:36.167 --> 00:00:39.416
 I have the largest collection
 of video games in the world.

 00:00:39.417 --> 00:00:42.167
 In the galaxy.

 00:00:55.959 --> 00:00:58.625
 I have over 11,000
 distinctly different games.

 00:00:58.626 --> 00:00:59.542
 All unique.

 00:00:59.543 --> 00:01:02.583
 And over 108 game systems.

 00:01:02.584 --> 00:01:05.458
 Where it all originally stems from?

 00:01:05.459 --> 00:01:08.416
 I\'m not, I’m not totally sure.

 00:01:08.417 --> 00:01:10.958
 Little compulsive, I don\'t know.
 I don\'t know.

 00:01:10.959 --> 00:01:14.458
 Why do I have 20 Pac-Mans?

 00:01:14.459 --> 00:01:18.916
 Well, there\'s something wrong and twisted
 in the back of my head, I guess.

 00:01:18.917 --> 00:01:21.249
 Here’s Pac-Man for the Atari 5200.

 00:01:21.250 --> 00:01:25.291
 Here’s Ms. Pac-Man for the Atari 5200.
 Waka waka.

 00:01:25.292 --> 00:01:27.833
 Here’s Ms. Pac-Man for the Atari 7800.

 00:01:27.834 --> 00:01:28.459
 Ms. Pac-Man.

 00:01:28.459 --> 00:01:28.959
 Pac-Man.

 00:01:28.959 --> 00:01:29.417
 Pac-Man.

 00:01:29.418 --> 00:01:30.829
 Pac-Man.

 00:01:30.830 --> 00:01:31.709
 I’ve bought Pac-Man twenty times over

 00:01:31.710 --> 00:01:34.458
 and even though its the exact
 same game in every platform,

 00:01:34.459 --> 00:01:35.750
 I keep buying it.

 00:01:35.751 --> 00:01:39.829
 I\'ve had hundreds of different
 joysticks in my life.

 00:01:39.830 --> 00:01:41.829
 But I have to say this is my favorite one.

 00:01:41.830 --> 00:01:44.291
 It’s the Epyx and it was
 mostly made for the Atari

 00:01:44.292 --> 00:01:47.419
 but you could also use it for Commodore
 computers and everything else.

 00:01:47.420 --> 00:01:50.333
 But if you listen,

 00:01:50.334 --> 00:01:51.875
 it has microswitches in it.

 00:01:51.876 --> 00:01:56.999
 It’s crazy noisy but it’s super accurate.

 00:01:57.000 --> 00:02:03.419
 Every time I hear that, my
 heart thumps a little, right?

 00:02:03.420 --> 00:02:05.333
 Kind of like a first love.

 00:02:05.334 --> 00:02:06.709
 It’s great.

 00:02:07.250 --> 00:02:10.333
 Suddenly, coin video games
 are turning up all over

 00:02:10.334 --> 00:02:15.750
 the country, in supermarkets, barbershops,
 doctors’ offices, bookstores,

 00:02:15.751 --> 00:02:21.249
 even at the jury room at the municipal
 court house in San Jose, California.

 00:02:21.250 --> 00:02:23.333
 Well, naturally we have some questions.

 00:02:23.334 --> 00:02:25.249
 Where do these games come from?

 00:02:25.250 --> 00:02:27.249
 What effect do they have on the players?

 00:02:27.250 --> 00:02:30.249
 And what happens when they
 appear in our communities?

 00:02:30.250 --> 00:02:31.666
 To get some answers,

 00:02:31.667 --> 00:02:33.167
 let’s go to the source.

 00:02:35.830 --> 00:02:39.291
 Summer of \'78 I was living
 in Lexington, Kentucky.

 00:02:39.292 --> 00:02:44.208
 My brother and sister and I jumped on our
 bicycles and rode to the Dairy Queen.

 00:02:44.209 --> 00:02:47.791
 And there\'s this huge hulking
 box in the center of the room.

 00:02:47.792 --> 00:02:50.626
 People are all gathered around it.

 00:02:52.667 --> 00:02:54.708
 I see a little glimpse of something moving.

 00:02:54.709 --> 00:02:55.959
 I don\'t know what it is.

 00:02:57.125 --> 00:02:59.334
 I squirm my way through

 00:03:01.375 --> 00:03:05.709
 and I see the Space Invaders.

 00:03:09.417 --> 00:03:11.666
 I didn\'t realize it was
 interactive at the time.

 00:03:11.667 --> 00:03:13.750
 Like there\'s a person there
 and everybody\'s watching it.

 00:03:13.751 --> 00:03:14.626
 And I\'m like,

 00:03:14.627 --> 00:03:16.542
 what kind of TV show is this?

 00:03:17.542 --> 00:03:19.499
 That was the eureka moment.

 00:03:19.500 --> 00:03:21.292
 Whoa, this isn\'t a television!

 00:03:22.626 --> 00:03:25.333
 This person is controlling it,

 00:03:25.334 --> 00:03:27.459
 interacting with it.

 00:03:30.125 --> 00:03:31.458
 Every young kid of the 80s

 00:03:31.459 --> 00:03:32.709
 played games.

 00:03:34.500 --> 00:03:36.660
 You couldn’t get away from them.
 They were everywhere.

 00:03:38.626 --> 00:03:42.420
 You\'d walk into an arcade and
 it wasn\'t just the kids.

 00:03:43.542 --> 00:03:45.823
 You\'d have the businessmen in
 their suits and their ties.

 00:03:47.542 --> 00:03:48.334
 You\'d have the moms

 00:03:48.335 --> 00:03:50.250
 that are just coming
 from the grocery stores.

 00:03:51.917 --> 00:03:55.917
 It was the golden age in
 the video game industry.

 00:03:59.876 --> 00:04:01.958
 I’m going to get more coins than you.

 00:04:01.959 --> 00:04:04.166
 Papa, stop, don’t! Papa, don’t!

 00:04:04.167 --> 00:04:05.792
 Okay I’ll leave you some.

 00:04:06.500 --> 00:04:07.708
 Go get ‘em!

 00:04:07.709 --> 00:04:10.499
 Jumpsy, wumpsy, little calumpsy!

 00:04:10.500 --> 00:04:11.334
 Good job.

 00:04:11.335 --> 00:04:13.124
 Look. I’m up.

 00:04:13.125 --> 00:04:14.583
 Get up there, OK?

 00:04:14.584 --> 00:04:19.166
 Playing a game it can take me to a
 place that I normally can’t visit.

 00:04:19.167 --> 00:04:24.420
 I can be an astronaut or I can
 be a doctor, a race car driver.

 00:04:26.459 --> 00:04:28.208
 In some ways it’s an escape.

 00:04:28.209 --> 00:04:29.708
 Here he comes. See if you can whack him.

 00:04:29.709 --> 00:04:30.709
 It fulfills fantasy.

 00:04:30.710 --> 00:04:32.333
 Papa. I can’t. I can’t.

 00:04:32.334 --> 00:04:33.542
 Good clean fun.

 00:04:35.542 --> 00:04:38.166
 Get out of the way. Go get him. Go get him.
 Get out of the way.

 00:04:38.167 --> 00:04:39.917
 Oh, no!

 00:04:41.375 --> 00:04:44.333
 I\'ve always been careful to make sure that

 00:04:44.334 --> 00:04:48.499
 my interest in games doesn\'t
 interfere with my personal life.

 00:04:48.500 --> 00:04:49.792
 Too much.

 00:04:52.375 --> 00:04:53.916
 I love you, honey. You’re a good girl.

 00:04:53.917 --> 00:04:55.583
 You too.

 00:04:55.584 --> 00:04:57.666
 Now I lay me down to sleep,

 00:04:57.667 --> 00:04:59.999
 I pray to God my soul for God to keep.

 00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:04.875
 May angels watch me through the night.
 And keep me safe till morning light.

 00:05:04.876 --> 00:05:06.291
 God bless:

 00:05:06.292 --> 00:05:07.750
 Aunt Trixie.

 00:05:07.751 --> 00:05:08.709
 Trixie.

 00:05:08.710 --> 00:05:10.916
 And Pappa.

 00:05:10.917 --> 00:05:12.625
 Georgia.

 00:05:12.626 --> 00:05:13.626
 Me.

 00:05:13.627 --> 00:05:16.291
 Anna.

 00:05:16.292 --> 00:05:19.583
 Stuffed animals.

 00:05:19.584 --> 00:05:22.208
 Goodnight, Pappa.

 00:05:22.209 --> 00:05:23.417
 Goodnight, Anna.

 00:05:25.917 --> 00:05:28.124
 I always make sure I
 have my daughter in bed.

 00:05:28.125 --> 00:05:29.833
 And my wife’s in bed.

 00:05:29.834 --> 00:05:33.208
 And if I still got energy left in me,

 00:05:33.209 --> 00:05:36.626
 I’ll play some games.

 00:05:37.292 --> 00:05:39.709
 Oh, no, no!

 00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:49.124
 I\'m in Homosassa, Florida
 visiting my mother.

 00:05:49.125 --> 00:05:53.708
 Right now her kidney numbers are
 stabilized so she’s doing good.

 00:05:53.709 --> 00:05:55.750
 So excited to see you

 00:05:55.751 --> 00:05:57.959
 You look good.

 00:06:00.830 --> 00:06:02.958
 God, I forget how tall you are.

 00:06:02.959 --> 00:06:03.959
 I’m still tall.

 00:06:03.959 --> 00:06:04.626
 I know it.

 00:06:04.627 --> 00:06:05.916
 It’s all on you.

 00:06:05.917 --> 00:06:08.666
 Hi, Derby. How are you, Derby?

 00:06:08.667 --> 00:06:10.958
 He’s so happy to see you.

 00:06:10.959 --> 00:06:12.625
 Give me kisses.

 00:06:12.626 --> 00:06:17.416
 I can’t stand up very long.

 00:06:17.417 --> 00:06:19.583
 Excuse the mess.

 00:06:19.584 --> 00:06:23.166
 I figured you all wouldn’t
 be here until eight or nine.

 00:06:23.167 --> 00:06:25.958
 I get here every couple of months

 00:06:25.959 --> 00:06:29.499
 and every time I leave I always wonder
 if it\'s going to be the last time.

 00:06:29.500 --> 00:06:32.124
 It’s probably going to still be too tall.

 00:06:32.125 --> 00:06:33.750
 Well, it’s not too bad.

 00:06:33.751 --> 00:06:34.667
 It’s still too tall.

 00:06:34.668 --> 00:06:35.875
 Pull this off.

 00:06:35.876 --> 00:06:38.374
 They sure are pretty.

 00:06:38.375 --> 00:06:42.829
 Pretty flowers for a pretty mom.

 00:06:42.830 --> 00:06:44.708
 My mom, she doesn\'t have Alzheimer’s

 00:06:44.709 --> 00:06:48.124
 but she has some oxygen issues
 and with the the kidney failure

 00:06:48.125 --> 00:06:50.708
 sometimes she has Alzheimer’s type systems.

 00:06:50.709 --> 00:06:51.292
 And you’re going to put

 00:06:51.293 --> 00:06:54.916
 vodka and tonic water in it?

 00:06:54.917 --> 00:06:56.541
 Yes, ma’am. I know what you want.

 00:06:56.542 --> 00:06:57.708
 Ice, too.

 00:06:57.709 --> 00:07:01.829
 And ice, yes. Not a lot of ice.
 Just a cube or two.

 00:07:01.830 --> 00:07:04.625
 I’ll fill it to the top with ice.

 00:07:04.626 --> 00:07:09.124
 I know what you like.

 00:07:09.125 --> 00:07:10.875
 I need you out of the way
 so I can do the dishes.

 00:07:10.876 --> 00:07:13.124
 You’re a pain.

 00:07:13.125 --> 00:07:18.166
 The best pain you got. And
 you got a lot of pains.

 00:07:18.167 --> 00:07:19.333
 You’re right.

 00:07:19.334 --> 00:07:21.249
 Here. I’ll bring this for you.

 00:07:21.250 --> 00:07:24.208
 You just…you OK?

 00:07:24.209 --> 00:07:25.625
 I’m OK.

 00:07:25.626 --> 00:07:27.458
 Your cane is right there to your right.

 00:07:27.459 --> 00:07:29.834
 I know.

 00:07:38.500 --> 00:07:43.833
 As a mom I\'m very proud of
 him because of who he is

 00:07:43.834 --> 00:07:46.333
 but of the games that
 doesn\'t impress me much.

 00:07:46.334 --> 00:07:49.708
 They\'re just games to me.

 00:07:49.709 --> 00:07:53.625
 So that doesn\'t matter to
 me one way or the other

 00:07:53.626 --> 00:07:57.917
 but if thats what he loves,
 I think that\'s wonderful.

 00:07:59.709 --> 00:08:02.792
 I’m kind of limping around.
 I’ve got a big butt.

 00:08:04.792 --> 00:08:07.791
 Step up.

 00:08:07.792 --> 00:08:12.791
 Wow. Look at the sun
 coming in to that room.

 00:08:12.792 --> 00:08:14.999
 Oh, gosh.

 00:08:15.000 --> 00:08:17.791
 I got to go lay down.

 00:08:17.792 --> 00:08:23.000
 My dad set her up for success and he saved
 well for when after he passed away.

 00:08:23.667 --> 00:08:28.791
 The original idea was a new home which
 is smaller would be paid for in full

 00:08:28.792 --> 00:08:30.499
 with the old home after it sold

 00:08:30.500 --> 00:08:32.666
 and then give her money to live on.

 00:08:32.667 --> 00:08:35.333
 But we kind of got in an
 unexpected situation,

 00:08:35.334 --> 00:08:37.166
 the whole housing market crashed

 00:08:37.167 --> 00:08:39.875
 and of course Florida got hit the hardest.

 00:08:39.876 --> 00:08:43.499
 We sold the old house at a huge loss.

 00:08:43.500 --> 00:08:47.625
 So instead of paying off the house in
 full and giving her money to live on,

 00:08:47.626 --> 00:08:49.916
 it gave her a mortgage instead.

 00:08:49.917 --> 00:08:52.583
 Oh, would you make me a drink?
 A drink-drink?

 00:08:52.584 --> 00:08:55.666
 No, you just had a drink.

 00:08:55.667 --> 00:08:58.625
 Well, I’d like another one.

 00:08:58.626 --> 00:09:02.583
 Well, I bet you would.

 00:09:02.584 --> 00:09:05.416
 How about some milk instead? And
 a little lunch to go with it?

 00:09:05.417 --> 00:09:07.374
 Uh-uh.

 00:09:07.375 --> 00:09:08.708
 No?

 00:09:08.709 --> 00:09:13.829
 No, I’ll wait till dinner.

 00:09:13.830 --> 00:09:14.830
 OK.

 00:09:17.125 --> 00:09:21.625
 He doesn’t like me drinking.

 00:09:21.626 --> 00:09:24.291
 Two drinks are my limit usually.

 00:09:24.292 --> 00:09:28.583
 And tis is just my second one, so.

 00:09:28.584 --> 00:09:31.875
 It helps my back so much.

 00:09:31.876 --> 00:09:35.791
 Two drinks and my back
 eases off a little bit.

 00:09:35.792 --> 00:09:38.374
 Well there was a commercial on TV,

 00:09:38.375 --> 00:09:41.541
 the question was, are you
 going to outlive your money?

 00:09:41.542 --> 00:09:45.419
 And my mom looked at me and she
 goes that\'s, that’s me isn\'t it?

 00:09:45.420 --> 00:09:50.829
 I said it might be but we\'re okay right now

 00:09:50.830 --> 00:09:54.416
 and we need to make some
 moves and make some changes

 00:09:54.417 --> 00:09:56.625
 to make sure that that doesn\'t happen.

 00:09:56.626 --> 00:09:59.124
 Before my father passed away,

 00:09:59.125 --> 00:10:02.541
 I\'m pretty sure he asked my older
 brother to look after mom.

 00:10:02.542 --> 00:10:05.333
 He\'s been very valiant at that

 00:10:05.334 --> 00:10:08.583
 at a lot of personal expense
 on him and his family.

 00:10:08.584 --> 00:10:12.458
 I don’t feel like I’m pulling my weight.

 00:10:12.459 --> 00:10:14.541
 I don’t feel like I’ve been doing enough.

 00:10:14.542 --> 00:10:20.791
 I only have one mother and she
 won\'t be around much longer.

 00:10:20.792 --> 00:10:24.249
 So now I’m selling the collection.

 00:10:24.250 --> 00:10:28.419
 And I don\'t want to be the guy that says I can\'t
 get off work or I can\'t afford to get there.

 00:10:28.420 --> 00:10:30.833
 Or I can\'t afford to get there.

 00:10:30.834 --> 00:10:36.374
 So I can do it with this.
 So I\'m going to do it.

 00:10:36.375 --> 00:10:42.417
 Hopefully somebody buys it.

 00:10:50.626 --> 00:10:51.459
 My name is Mike Kennedy

 00:10:51.460 --> 00:10:55.419
 and I\'m founder of video gaming
 auction site gamegavel.com.

 00:10:55.420 --> 00:10:57.340
 We’re the only gaming
 auction site in the world.

 00:11:01.751 --> 00:11:03.791
 So Michael contacted me

 00:11:03.792 --> 00:11:06.708
 seeing if i\'d be interested in
 running this auction for him.

 00:11:06.709 --> 00:11:09.499
 He had some questions, of course.

 00:11:09.500 --> 00:11:12.708
 What benefits might he
 have listing the auction

 00:11:12.709 --> 00:11:14.626
 with us versus a big site like eBay.

 00:11:15.667 --> 00:11:17.208
 One of the things we try to do

 00:11:17.209 --> 00:11:20.834
 is to verify all of the bidders.

 00:11:21.420 --> 00:11:24.791
 You know, it’s exciting for somebody
 that operates a smaller site to,

 00:11:24.792 --> 00:11:29.750
 you know, have somebody put as high
 profile auction on your site as this

 00:11:29.751 --> 00:11:32.250
 which, is I mean, is as high
 profile as you get, frankly.

 00:11:34.667 --> 00:11:36.666
 So I’m logging in to GameGavel.

 00:11:36.667 --> 00:11:39.333
 It’s for auctions for gamers and geeks.

 00:11:39.334 --> 00:11:42.708
 This collection consists
 of all 10,607 games

 00:11:42.709 --> 00:11:45.999
 that were verified by the Guinness Book of
 World Records during the official count

 00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:48.625
 performed on December 3, 2012

 00:11:48.626 --> 00:11:52.416
 as well as 400 plus more games
 that I’ve acquired since.

 00:11:52.417 --> 00:11:54.625
 In total over 11,000 games.

 00:11:54.626 --> 00:11:59.166
 Guinness did not count duplicates so
 every game is unique with no repeats.

 00:11:59.167 --> 00:12:02.208
 And I am also including the
 actual Guinness certificate.

 00:12:02.209 --> 00:12:06.626
 Go crazy.

 00:12:20.375 --> 00:12:22.999
 And finally, I just read about
 this guy here in New York

 00:12:23.000 --> 00:12:25.416
 who was selling the world’s
 largest video game collection

 00:12:25.417 --> 00:12:28.541
 which has 11,000 games.

 00:12:28.542 --> 00:12:31.708
 He doesn’t really want to sell it but he
 needs some way to pay for his divorce.

 00:12:31.709 --> 00:12:32.791
 We have a great show.

 00:12:32.792 --> 00:12:34.374
 No way.

 00:12:34.375 --> 00:12:38.416
 The Oculus Rift creator, you’re
 talking about the gentleman

 00:12:38.417 --> 00:12:41.458
 that is creating the new VR headset,

 00:12:41.459 --> 00:12:45.541
 that just got bought out by,
 who are they working with now?

 00:12:45.542 --> 00:12:48.374
 Oculus Rift, Facebook.

 00:12:48.375 --> 00:12:51.999
 And he’s considering buying the world’s largest
 game collection that’s up for auction?

 00:12:52.000 --> 00:12:53.750
 I have not seen that anywhere.

 00:12:53.751 --> 00:12:57.420
 If you could forward that to
 me, that would be amazing.

 00:12:58.751 --> 00:12:59.751
 I am, I am

 00:12:59.752 --> 00:13:03.875
 shaking, I am shaking right now
 with the news you just told me.

 00:13:03.876 --> 00:13:05.333
 If he’s in fact in the running,

 00:13:05.334 --> 00:13:08.333
 one, that let’s me that my collection is
 going to go to a good home and be respected.

 00:13:08.334 --> 00:13:12.829
 And that means a lot to me.

 00:13:12.830 --> 00:13:15.125
 And two, that means
 everything is going to be OK.

 00:13:18.125 --> 00:13:22.834
 I want this collection to go to
 somebody that appreciates it.

 00:13:26.292 --> 00:13:30.292
 And I’d like to think that the person
 that buys it, keeps growing it.

 00:13:33.542 --> 00:13:37.419
 Maybe he can take it farther
 than I can take it.

 00:13:37.420 --> 00:13:38.917
 Because I have to stop.

 00:14:16.959 --> 00:14:18.791
 Hey, Mike.

 00:14:18.792 --> 00:14:20.666
 See the auction ended.

 00:14:20.667 --> 00:14:24.249
 Surprised to see no
 movement at all at the end.

 00:14:24.250 --> 00:14:27.829
 So hope this guy is the real deal.

 00:14:27.830 --> 00:14:33.333
 I don\'t see his contact information
 or how to contact him.

 00:14:33.334 --> 00:14:36.374
 So, I guess I need to hear
 from you for the next step.

 00:14:36.375 --> 00:14:42.374
 So, if you could send me an email or
 contact me that would be fantastic.

 00:14:42.375 --> 00:14:43.708
 Thank you so much.

 00:14:43.709 --> 00:14:44.830
 Bye.

 00:14:45.667 --> 00:14:48.750
 Going to feel a whole lot more real
 when I start putting games in boxes.

 00:14:48.751 --> 00:14:52.916
 See the shelves empty one-by-one
 until 11,000 of them are gone.

 00:14:52.917 --> 00:14:54.875
 That’s going to be the hard part

 00:14:54.876 --> 00:14:57.708
 when I’m touching the games
 that I’m getting rid of.

 00:14:57.709 --> 00:15:00.000
 Then it’s going to seem more real.

 00:15:08.751 --> 00:15:10.875
 I think my dad, he‘d be very proud.

 00:15:10.876 --> 00:15:14.000
 That I was able to pull it off.

 00:15:16.375 --> 00:15:18.249
 I miss him.

 00:15:18.250 --> 00:15:21.500
 My biggest fan.

 00:15:23.250 --> 00:15:25.419
 Did you make this?

 00:15:25.420 --> 00:15:26.791
 Yeah.

 00:15:26.792 --> 00:15:29.458
 Happy Father’s Day. Will
 you read this to me?

 00:15:29.459 --> 00:15:30.459
 And it says, love–

 00:15:30.460 --> 00:15:31.666
 Love, Anna.

 00:15:31.667 --> 00:15:33.583
 Anna, that’s you.

 00:15:33.584 --> 00:15:36.583
 I’m filled with a lot
 of emotions right now.

 00:15:36.584 --> 00:15:38.499
 It’s refreshing.

 00:15:38.500 --> 00:15:40.499
 It\'s like I\'ve walked in to a new room.

 00:15:40.500 --> 00:15:42.124
 I don\'t know where its going to lead me,

 00:15:42.125 --> 00:15:48.374
 what’s going to happen but new
 chapter in a new book, right?

 00:15:48.375 --> 00:15:50.666
 I’m sure I’ll be reading
 the old books again.

 00:15:50.667 --> 00:15:52.542
 Books being video games, of course

 00:15:57.667 --> 00:16:00.875
 I\'ll buy my favorites
 back and I\'ll be playing.

 00:16:00.876 --> 00:16:03.541
 I don\'t think this is going to be the end

 00:16:03.542 --> 00:16:06.999
 of Michael Thomasson.

 00:16:07.000 --> 00:16:10.999
 I want my daughter and my
 wife, my brother to know that

 00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:14.419
 I will do anything for them.

 00:16:14.420 --> 00:16:17.292
 I don\'t have anything bigger to give.

 00:16:20.500 --> 00:16:22.666
 You never know the quality of the people

 00:16:22.667 --> 00:16:24.791
 that are going to be bidding
 on something like this.

 00:16:24.792 --> 00:16:27.291
 We thought the guy that won it was legit.

 00:16:27.292 --> 00:16:28.666
 He said he was legit.

 00:16:28.667 --> 00:16:32.875
 And, you know, come to find
 out soon after, he wasn’t.

 00:16:32.876 --> 00:16:35.334
 What do you do?

 00:16:37.000 --> 00:16:41.666
 There was a lot of time spent and
 effort on many people’s parts

 00:16:41.667 --> 00:16:44.499
 to promote this auction.

 00:16:44.500 --> 00:16:47.708
 To tell the story of this auction.

 00:16:47.709 --> 00:16:50.420
 It was just kind of a big waste of time.

 00:16:51.292 --> 00:16:52.209
 I spent

 00:16:52.210 --> 00:16:54.625
 years setting this up.

 00:16:54.626 --> 00:16:56.124
 Had a very meticulous,

 00:16:56.125 --> 00:16:59.124
 well thought out, well
 structured and organized plan.

 00:16:59.125 --> 00:17:03.125
 I was trying to be the
 hero for a lot of people.

 00:17:11.209 --> 00:17:14.420
 I was just filled with a sadness.

 00:17:16.917 --> 00:17:19.541
 I don\'t think when he made his bid that

 00:17:19.542 --> 00:17:22.708
 he would realize some of the possible
 ramifications that could come from this.

 00:17:22.709 --> 00:17:24.419
 He\'s hurting people.

 00:17:24.420 --> 00:17:27.666
 As a result I\'ve been having
 conversations with my brother.

 00:17:27.667 --> 00:17:31.499
 We\'re hoping my mom could die in her home.

 00:17:31.500 --> 00:17:33.124
 That may not be the case now.

 00:17:33.125 --> 00:17:35.375
 We\'re talking about moving
 her into an apartment.

 00:17:42.500 --> 00:17:45.249
 And with her not being able to
 fully comprehend and understand

 00:17:45.250 --> 00:17:49.459
 what\'s going on in the world its
 going to be a difficult thing to do.

 00:17:51.917 --> 00:17:54.829
 And even after she\'s there
 she\'s not going to understand

 00:17:54.830 --> 00:17:56.374
 why she\'s there or how she got there.

 00:17:56.375 --> 00:17:59.374
 So it’s going to be a
 continuous battle to deal with.

 00:17:59.375 --> 00:18:03.542
 And this is just one circumstance
 because of his actions.

 00:18:15.459 --> 00:18:19.791
 I could be a lot more bitter about
 what\'s happened with the auction

 00:18:19.792 --> 00:18:22.792
 than I am and some days I am.

 00:18:27.626 --> 00:18:30.583
 It’s tough to forgive.

 00:18:30.584 --> 00:18:32.750
 He did it and then it ended for him

 00:18:32.751 --> 00:18:35.167
 but it keeps going everyday for us.

 00:18:37.500 --> 00:18:40.416
 I like to think that what
 he did wasn\'t malicious.

 00:18:40.417 --> 00:18:47.374
 Maybe maybe he can find in his
 heart to apologize some day.

 00:18:47.375 --> 00:18:50.999
 I guess its okay to fail as
 long as I tried to do my best

 00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:54.625
 and I know that I\'ve done that so
 I\'m not going to have any regrets.

 00:18:54.626 --> 00:18:58.499
 This is just one more hill to
 climb and we’ll get to the top

 00:18:58.500 --> 00:19:01.416
 and we’ll walk back down the other side.

 00:19:01.417 --> 00:19:02.542
 Let me rest for a second.

 00:19:13.667 --> 00:19:17.291
 I’ll race you.

 00:19:17.292 --> 00:19:19.542
 Here’s boxes. Here’s boxes.

 00:19:21.459 --> 00:19:23.333
 Two points.

 00:19:23.334 --> 00:19:26.833
 Can you do it? Try throwing it in the back.
 Here, catch.

 00:19:26.834 --> 00:19:28.876
 Good catch. Good thing that’s not heavy.

 00:19:34.417 --> 00:19:37.292
 You’re little brother’s got some news.

 00:19:38.209 --> 00:19:41.374
 I sold the game collection.

 00:19:41.375 --> 00:19:47.208
 It actually sold on mom’s birthday
 which I thought was a miraculous sign.

 00:19:47.209 --> 00:19:52.791
 But still waiting for all the contracts
 but this time should be legit,

 00:19:52.792 --> 00:19:57.541
 I got a large deposit put down, so.

 00:19:57.542 --> 00:20:00.499
 I’d be very surprised with
 that if it doesn’t happen.

 00:20:00.500 --> 00:20:06.750
 Well, the buyer wants the total to
 remain private between him and me

 00:20:06.751 --> 00:20:11.829
 so I’m not revealing that number
 to you or anybody else but

 00:20:11.830 --> 00:20:14.499
 it’s enough, it’s enough to
 do what needs to be done.

 00:20:14.500 --> 00:20:18.875
 You know I did this for my
 own family and help mom,

 00:20:18.876 --> 00:20:21.958
 but I’m tired of my
 sister living in squalor

 00:20:21.959 --> 00:20:25.374
 and I’ve been thinking a lot and
 that house you were looking at,

 00:20:25.375 --> 00:20:27.667
 I think I’d like to buy it for ya’.

 00:20:28.792 --> 00:20:30.792
 What’s that?

 00:20:32.709 --> 00:20:38.829
 I can barely understand you
 over your tears, girl.

 00:20:38.830 --> 00:20:40.291
 You’re very welcome.

 00:20:40.292 --> 00:20:48.292
 And, don\'t thank me yet
 but we’ll get there. OK?

 00:20:49.167 --> 00:20:51.374
 Love you, sis.

 00:20:51.375 --> 00:20:54.667
 Goodnight. Bye.

 00:21:05.375 --> 00:21:08.833
 We’re going to access the
 situation with my mother.

 00:21:08.834 --> 00:21:10.124
 We need to make

 00:21:10.125 --> 00:21:14.334
 sure that she’s as comfortable as
 can be while she’s still with us.

 00:21:18.830 --> 00:21:20.208
 It’ll be nice to know that I can

 00:21:20.209 --> 00:21:23.049
 pay the mortgage without worrying
 where the money’s going to come from.

 00:21:31.167 --> 00:21:33.750
 I was happy and excited that it sold

 00:21:33.751 --> 00:21:37.499
 and I could do good and my heart
 kind of sank, too because

 00:21:37.500 --> 00:21:38.667
 all the games got to go.

 00:21:51.209 --> 00:21:53.333
 It’s going to be hard
 walking back in that room

 00:21:53.334 --> 00:21:55.167
 with it being empty.

 00:22:03.292 --> 00:22:05.958
 I don\'t know. I don\'t know
 how I’m supposed to feel.

 00:22:05.959 --> 00:22:09.125
 I don\'t know how to describe how I feel.

 00:22:15.584 --> 00:22:19.419
 It’s good that there’s an ending.

 00:22:19.420 --> 00:22:20.917
 That makes me happy.
