Our Demand

View on the Pragda STREAM site

In 1991, the young Wichí man Miguel Ángel Lorenzo picked up a Hi8 video camera and, with humor and sensitivity, began documenting life in his community. Together with his neighbors, he filmed journeys through the forest, visits to nearby homes, school events, archaeological explorations, and even the arrival of a judge — all part of the evidence for a legal case the Wichí had been pursuing since 1986.

Directed by Daniela Seggiaro, Our Demand is constructed from these images, episodes, and everyday moments, revealing how Indigenous protagonists communicate to the white world the significance of the forest, their language, and communal life — essential pillars of their ongoing struggle for territory and recognition.
