Grooming, directed and co-written by Pablo Destito, is a powerful Argentinian film that tackles the urgent issue of online sexual predation of children and adolescents, commonly known as grooming. Released with the support of UNICEF Argentina and Canal Encuentro, the film premiered on November 13, 2020, aligning with Argentina’s National Day Against Grooming.
Blending documentary realism with narrative storytelling, Grooming centers on a 13‑year‑old girl seeking affection who begins an exchange via a mysterious message box. Her curiosity draws her into a manipulative digital relationship with a stranger.
The film features dramatized performances by Constanza Agüero, Lucía Bargados, and Martin López Carzolio, and includes scenes filmed in collaboration with the Ballet Contemporáneo del Teatro San Martín during Argentina’s COVID-19 lockdown.
With a disruptive aesthetic treatment, it proposes a nonstigmatizing look on technology, through Hip Hop culture and contemporary dance.
