Welcome to the Symbiocene

Welcome to the Symbiocene

What can humans learn from nature? Environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht is certain that a new era awaits us: the Symbiocene. The term comes from the word symbiosis, the long-term coexistence of two or more organisms of different species. The Symbioscene is an era in which people, nature and technology find a new balance and benefit from each other's existence. Researchers and artists such as Jalila Essaïdi, Lucas de Man and Iza Awad are working on new materials that originate from nature and can also be absorbed by nature. They come up with surprising examples such as the use of silkworms, mycelium and kombucha to make clothes or build houses. Welcome to the Symbiocene.
