Filmmaker Efthymia Zymvragaki intertwines her personal history with the story of Ernesto, a man grappling with the cycles of violence he has experienced and perpetuated. Seeking to exorcize his trauma through cinema, Ernesto invites Efthymia to adapt his autobiographical novel into a film. Their collaboration becomes an exploration of violence, accountability, and healing, as Ernesto confronts his role as both victim and perpetrator, and Efthymia revisits her own painful past rooted in her childhood on the island of Crete.

When a tragic turn of events leads to Ernesto’s death by suicide, the project transforms into an intimate and poetic autopsy of the heritage of violence across genders and generations. Blending candid reenactments, archival materials, and poetic visuals of sun-drenched landscapes, Zymvragaki weaves together their stories, confronting themes of identity, forgiveness, and the longing for home.
