In a remote village grappling with the unresolved trauma of multiple disappearances, four villagers decide to organize a festival to honor their town’s patron saint, hoping the celebration will finally bring an end to their years of mourning. They believe that if the saint is pleased, their collective grief will be alleviated, and the pain of their lost loved ones will be symbolically buried. Despite facing numerous challenges, the villagers persevere, driven by faith and hope. However, when one of the four organizers suffers a devastating accident, they fear this could be a bad omen—a sign that the patron saint may not wish to intervene in their suffering after all.
The film explores the fine line between faith and superstition, and the complex interplay between cultural rituals, collective memory, and the search for closure in the aftermath of profound loss.

00:03:05.167 --> 00:03:08.083
Prologue
00:03:45.542 --> 00:03:47.542
I don’t think my hand can...
00:03:47.708 --> 00:03:49.208
What!
00:03:49.417 --> 00:03:51.417
Our patron saint will be hands tied.
00:03:53.500 --> 00:03:55.500
Yours, your hand cousin.
00:03:56.542 --> 00:03:59.042
He might want
another administrator’s hand
00:03:59.292 --> 00:04:01.625
Yours will be...
00:04:19.750 --> 00:04:21.375
Yours, let’s see mommy...
00:04:21.542 --> 00:04:23.750
Yours, he might want your hand
00:04:33.458 --> 00:04:35.875
Patron saint might be asleep.
00:04:37.833 --> 00:04:41.250
Patron saint, we want to honor you
with a chant...
00:04:41.458 --> 00:04:44.333
We’ll throw a big party for you
patron saint...
00:04:44.750 --> 00:04:47.417
and you’ll be happy...
00:04:48.792 --> 00:04:50.792
bless us...
00:04:51.458 --> 00:04:55.833
Patron saint, we’re here
to honor you...
00:04:56.000 --> 00:04:58.500
we’re fully devoted...
00:04:58.958 --> 00:05:01.667
we’ve come for your blessing...
00:05:01.833 --> 00:05:06.292
Patron saint, we’re here
to honor you...
00:06:59.208 --> 00:07:03.208
Chapter I
Flowers for the patron
00:08:20.458 --> 00:08:24.458
Look Isaquita,
this year might be beautiful...
00:08:28.208 --> 00:08:33.208
You\'ll see. The patron will
send us some rain.
00:08:37.500 --> 00:08:39.333
Leandrita, sweetie...
00:08:39.500 --> 00:08:45.750
Please, collect the nicest flowers
for his party.
00:08:48.292 --> 00:08:53.333
We must treat the patron
like a bride, sweetie.
00:15:35.833 --> 00:15:37.292
Black roads....
00:15:45.083 --> 00:15:47.083
the ground is covering...
00:15:48.500 --> 00:15:50.500
lands...
00:15:53.333 --> 00:15:55.333
stars disappear...
00:16:02.042 --> 00:16:04.042
the spotlight...
00:16:04.917 --> 00:16:07.083
the spotlight...
00:16:08.458 --> 00:16:10.708
the spotlight...
00:16:12.417 --> 00:16:14.417
my house goes away...
00:16:15.167 --> 00:16:17.417
my house goes away...
00:16:19.792 --> 00:16:21.875
my house goes away...
00:19:56.250 --> 00:20:00.458
Chapter II
A cloak for the patron
00:20:54.958 --> 00:20:56.958
Remember, cousin?
00:20:59.333 --> 00:21:02.708
On the eve of the patron saint festival.
00:21:04.792 --> 00:21:07.917
It went bang! bang! bang!
00:21:08.750 --> 00:21:10.375
It wasn\'t my time.
00:21:10.542 --> 00:21:13.333
I don\'t know how I made it.
00:21:14.708 --> 00:21:16.708
Ok, quiet!
00:21:19.083 --> 00:21:21.167
Quiet!, quiet!
00:21:21.458 --> 00:21:23.458
You’ll look pretty!
00:22:01.958 --> 00:22:05.375
They stole Avicha\'s cows and sheep.
00:22:08.042 --> 00:22:10.375
Remember, mommy?
00:22:18.958 --> 00:22:20.958
She, stupidly, try to
follow...
00:22:30.208 --> 00:22:32.667
We just heard screams Mommy!
00:22:36.417 --> 00:22:38.208
Silly Avicha, wow!
00:23:49.708 --> 00:23:52.792
Leandrita\'s parents were ill.
00:23:53.000 --> 00:23:55.542
Yet, they were taken to the hill.
00:24:06.708 --> 00:24:10.000
They might be on their second honeymoon.
00:24:38.375 --> 00:24:40.417
It looks beautiful, mommy!
00:24:40.792 --> 00:24:42.792
The patron will look so handsome!
00:26:16.250 --> 00:26:24.500
They\'d blindfold me and then drown me
tied to a board...
00:26:27.875 --> 00:26:32.458
I was almost vanished mommy.
I was told knitting is bad.
00:26:36.542 --> 00:26:40.833
Nobody knits anymore.
Even my son wants to go to Lima.
00:26:46.333 --> 00:26:50.167
Surely, the patron has saved me
to knit his cloak.
00:30:11.750 --> 00:30:18.208
Chapter III
Music for the patron
00:31:16.833 --> 00:31:19.125
We sing to celebrate you, patron,
00:31:19.708 --> 00:31:21.708
your sweet light will guide us.
00:31:25.792 --> 00:31:27.292
We sing to celebrate you, patron,
00:31:27.458 --> 00:31:29.375
your sweet light will guide us.
00:31:32.417 --> 00:31:35.542
We sing to celebrate you, patron,
00:31:36.125 --> 00:31:38.042
your sweet light will guide us.
00:31:41.917 --> 00:31:45.042
We sing to celebrate you, patron,
00:31:45.250 --> 00:31:47.167
your sweet light will guide us.
00:37:50.208 --> 00:37:52.542
Speak! Speak!
00:37:56.708 --> 00:37:59.042
Speak, Avicha! Yes, yes speak...
00:37:59.333 --> 00:38:01.958
Yes, speak Avicha...
Do it, Avicha!
00:38:13.708 --> 00:38:16.375
We had a merry Christmas
00:38:16.708 --> 00:38:20.083
in my parents\' house,
00:38:20.250 --> 00:38:22.958
this time I brought a guinea pig,
00:38:23.125 --> 00:38:26.125
and my Mateo is slaughtering the ram,
00:38:26.292 --> 00:38:28.958
we might slaughter a turkey next year.
00:38:32.792 --> 00:38:37.625
Bravo, Avicha, bravo,
well done Avicha, hooray, hooray!
00:39:07.125 --> 00:39:11.375
Speak! Speak!
00:43:54.583 --> 00:43:57.333
Three hoorays for the patron saint!
00:44:16.042 --> 00:44:21.375
Chapter IV
Mass for the patron
00:50:17.250 --> 00:50:19.042
-Welcome.
-Thanks.
00:50:19.875 --> 00:50:22.833
Good morning, father.
00:50:31.208 --> 00:50:33.208
Welcome.
00:50:36.208 --> 00:50:38.208
Hello, father.
00:51:04.667 --> 00:51:08.875
We sing to celebrate you,
00:51:09.042 --> 00:51:11.042
your sweet light will guide us.
00:51:12.375 --> 00:51:16.583
We sing celebrate to you,
00:51:16.750 --> 00:51:18.750
your sweet light will guide us.
00:51:19.542 --> 00:51:23.917
Your word we\'ll listen,
and your blessing we\'ll pray,
00:51:24.458 --> 00:51:27.833
to get rid of this mourning.
00:51:28.458 --> 00:51:32.833
Your word we\'ll listen,
and your blessing we\'ll pray,
00:51:33.167 --> 00:51:35.542
to get rid of this mourning.
00:51:40.958 --> 00:51:44.625
I confess to almighty God,
00:51:44.625 --> 00:51:46.625
to the patron saint
00:51:46.792 --> 00:51:48.625
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
00:51:48.792 --> 00:51:50.625
that I have sinned through my own fault,
00:51:50.792 --> 00:51:53.333
in my thoughts and words.
00:51:57.792 --> 00:51:59.625
In what I have done,
00:52:00.250 --> 00:52:02.083
and in what I have failed to do.
00:52:06.250 --> 00:52:08.208
For you alone are the Holy one...
00:52:09.208 --> 00:52:11.042
you alone are the Lord...
00:52:12.042 --> 00:52:14.625
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ...
00:52:16.542 --> 00:52:18.625
with the Holy Spirit...
00:52:19.917 --> 00:52:22.875
in the glory of God the Father...
00:52:24.125 --> 00:52:28.833
Glory, glory, hallelujah...
00:52:29.000 --> 00:52:33.625
Glory, glory, hallelujah...
00:52:39.333 --> 00:52:44.125
in the name of God.
00:52:46.000 --> 00:52:49.000
Today we are celebrating our dear
patron saint Santiago,
00:52:49.375 --> 00:52:53.708
we must honor him
as the major Saint he is.
00:52:53.875 --> 00:52:57.458
Santiago was Jacob, Zebedeo\'s son.
00:52:57.750 --> 00:53:03.583
He was one of the first disciples to shed
blood and die for Jesus.
00:53:04.542 --> 00:53:08.542
Santiago was beheaded during
the persecutions against the Christians,
00:53:08.708 --> 00:53:11.667
commanded by the King of Judah.
00:53:11.833 --> 00:53:15.500
We cannot forget that he was one of the three
00:53:15.667 --> 00:53:18.542
closest disciples to Jesus Christ.
00:53:18.708 --> 00:53:23.167
Apostle Santiago was not only present in two of
the most important moments of the Messiah,
00:53:23.333 --> 00:53:26.625
the transfiguration at Mount Tabor,
00:53:26.792 --> 00:53:29.542
and the prayer at
the Garden of Olives,
00:53:30.667 --> 00:53:35.125
but was also part of a limited group of
witnesses
00:53:35.292 --> 00:53:38.958
of his last miracle:
00:53:39.125 --> 00:53:44.208
his appearance, once risen,
at Lake Tiberias.
00:53:45.708 --> 00:53:52.833
After Christ\'s death; Santiago,
passionate and impulsive as he was,
00:53:53.208 --> 00:53:58.958
joined the initial group
of the Early Church of Jerusalem
00:53:59.208 --> 00:54:05.708
and, in his evangelizing work, he was
allocated the Spanish mainland.
00:54:05.875 --> 00:54:09.250
Santiago was the patron saint
of the Peninsula.
00:54:09.417 --> 00:54:12.917
A warrior who would eventually become
00:54:13.083 --> 00:54:15.250
the icon of Christian fight
00:54:15.417 --> 00:54:21.750
and one of the most powerful catholic
representatives until now.
00:54:21.917 --> 00:54:25.417
He was called \"the riding horror\".
00:54:27.375 --> 00:54:32.125
On Lucas, chapter 9,
versicles 51 to 56
00:54:32.833 --> 00:54:36.333
when Jesus tried to enter a
Samaritan town,
00:54:36.500 --> 00:54:40.000
he was rejected by the locals.
00:54:41.042 --> 00:54:43.958
Dismayed by their apathy,
00:54:44.125 --> 00:54:49.792
his disciple, Santiago, the Elder,
our patron saint,
00:54:50.000 --> 00:54:54.375
whom we honor today, and
whose blessing we implore, proposed:
00:54:54.542 --> 00:55:00.708
\"Lord, shall we make fire rain from
heaven to terminate them?\".
00:55:04.000 --> 00:55:09.542
We pray to you for the health of our beloved
Pilgrim Pope, the cardinal, the bishops
00:55:09.708 --> 00:55:13.125
and all the deceased Llaquiskayans:
00:56:02.667 --> 00:56:06.458
We pray to you now, almighty lord,
00:56:06.625 --> 00:56:09.792
and God of all the holy powers,
00:56:09.958 --> 00:56:11.792
we kneel before you,
00:56:11.958 --> 00:56:16.583
to send us the Holy Spirit over
these offerings,
00:56:17.792 --> 00:56:24.375
Evidence that this bread is the true
body of our Lord Jesus Christ
00:56:24.542 --> 00:56:29.083
and this chalice is the
Blood of Jesus Christ,
00:56:30.792 --> 00:56:37.167
may all these believers and people
get the life and resurrection,
00:56:37.333 --> 00:56:43.333
their sins forgiven, and
their souls and bodies saved.
00:56:45.375 --> 00:56:51.042
We offer this sacrifice to Jesus Christ,
in communion with the whole church.
00:56:54.708 --> 00:56:56.542
Rest in peace.
00:56:57.750 --> 00:57:00.292
Blessing.
00:57:00.958 --> 00:57:02.792
Rest in peace.
00:57:05.875 --> 00:57:07.708
Rest in peace.
00:57:09.125 --> 00:57:11.500
May our patron saint ease your pain.
00:57:12.042 --> 00:57:13.333
Rest in peace.
00:57:13.500 --> 00:57:15.333
Blessing.
00:57:16.333 --> 00:57:17.625
Rest in peace.
00:57:19.292 --> 00:57:20.583
Rest in peace.
00:57:22.750 --> 00:57:24.667
May our patron saint ease your pain.
00:57:25.083 --> 00:57:26.375
Rest in peace.
00:57:28.875 --> 00:57:30.708
Blessing.
00:57:31.625 --> 00:57:32.958
Rest in peace.
00:57:35.125 --> 00:57:36.833
Rest in peace.
00:57:37.417 --> 00:57:39.792
May our patron saint ease your pain.
00:57:40.125 --> 00:57:41.833
Rest in peace.
00:57:43.500 --> 00:57:44.125
Blessing.
00:57:44.333 --> 00:57:46.042
Rest in peace.
00:57:47.375 --> 00:57:49.083
Rest in peace.
00:57:49.750 --> 00:57:52.125
May our patron saint ease your pain.
01:01:06.625 --> 01:01:11.250
Chapter V
Complaints for the patron
01:06:16.833 --> 01:06:20.375
Epilogue
01:08:15.083 --> 01:08:16.917
Giddy up horse!
01:08:19.500 --> 01:08:21.500
Giddy up horse!
01:08:35.125 --> 01:08:37.125
Oh, spooky!
01:09:37.083 --> 01:09:39.083
Oops, got him!
01:10:36.250 --> 01:10:37.667
Take him down!
01:10:37.833 --> 01:10:40.292
Three, two, one...now!
01:10:49.042 --> 01:10:51.042
There\'s nothing left.
01:11:10.250 --> 01:11:13.583
Mine came from back there
01:11:13.792 --> 01:11:16.125
Mine went really far.
01:11:17.958 --> 01:11:19.958
Mine got to the platform.
01:11:20.750 --> 01:11:22.750
How do we pull that?
01:11:27.208 --> 01:11:29.208
Mine got to the second platform.
