Nacho Dean. The Sea Traveller

View on the Pragda STREAM site

Traversing mountains, jungles, deserts, and urban landscapes entirely on foot, naturalist Nacho Dean undertook an extraordinary journey to document the environmental impacts of climate change. Along the way, he witnessed the levels of plastic pollution on beaches and coastlines worldwide, turning his expedition into a call for urgent environmental action.

But his work was unfinished. In 2018, he launched the Nemo Expedition—a challenge to swim between the five continents, raising awareness of ocean conservation and the state of marine ecosystems. He wasn't a professional swimmer, but trained for over 2,500 kilometers, completing five intercontinental crossings over 24 months, with 90 hours of documented footage.

Dean’s remarkable expeditions have made him an advocate for sustainability. In 2016, he became the first Spaniard to walk around the world alone—an achievement only four individuals had accomplished. His work provides invaluable insights into the environmental crises we face.
